I'll pick Saturday at 3 PM Eastern for the first "how will this storm affect the election?" story.

There was already talk about it this morning on 'Morning Joe', that power outages could last that long if there is a snow event associated with it.

I expect to see a gazillion FEMA workers and vehicles on the road this weekend.

And Rudy Guiliani on talk shows tellin how he would take control if he were President of the East Coast.

Conventional wisdom goes, natural disasters help incumbents, while prison riots hurt. But then, snow sucks for the incumbent.

is it even a serious possibility that the election could be postponed if there are wide power outages? surely unprecedented, but then again, it sounds like so is this storm.

I liked the earlier models that had it tracking out to sea. It appears it's "only" going to be a tropical storm by Tuesday.

add to that the winter storm and cold front coming in from the northwest and the full moon tides - it could get ugly.

The funny thing is, the further south the storm hits, say in Delaware or NJ, the more likely that the northern regions will see snow. If it hits in New England, it will be rain inland.

is that because of the timing of the cold front?

I'd love to see this thing ramble straight up into the Chesapeake Bay (or up whatever that Bay between NY and NJ is called and into the Long Island Sound for that matter). Either looks possible from the wide cone of uncertainty.

My wife and I are trying to sell a house in the southwestern part of PA. We live in the northeastern part of the state. My hope is that the water stays out of the basement in Western PA. If that happens, I'd even tolerate a few days without power here.

When you post something like this, next time say "Boo-Ya" so you're automatically put on ignore.

But seriously folks. It's interesting how the long range forecasts I check still have less than an inch of snow any place in PA, and not even a 1/2 inch of rain. I realize by typing this it will change and tomorrow's long range forecast for early next week will be ...

    Rain: See Genesis 7:1 - 8:22:

    Snow: See Revelation 1:1 - 22:21"

It will be a Rutgers University fail when the streets flood and I'll still have to walk a mile to class. Should be interesting.

I know this is wrong, but I'm insanely jealous.

We have almost no interesting weather here.

I'll take boring over the potential bad shit we'll have to deal with if this storm gets ugly.

And that's why I said it was wrong to feel that way. I suspect that much of this is hype from a media desperate to talk about anything that isn't an election.

Oh sure, this bitch is gonna take a left into NJ. Can't it just hit Staten Island head on and do everyone a big favor?
