I'm not fussed over the result, certainly hope Holman's injury isn't serious... when he and Bresc came off the sting in attack understandably died. Some of the boys even seemed to lack any determination which was strange. Still not sold with Wilkshire at RM. Same goes for Davidson at LB but that's very early days and I think Zullo is injured. Needless to say Carney needs to be phased out very soon. I'm happy to see McGowan persisted with as a sub. Then there were quality no-shows like Ruka, Herd, McKay and Cahill. Hopefully Troisi and Leckie can make big impacts for their clubs in the coming months and earn their call-ups. I'll watch the game over again to make a proper judgement on Jedinak and Valeri but I'm becoming concerned. Well played by Scotland though, some good stuff in there and I don't think they had their strongest mix either.
Sports City Stadium, Beirut, Lebanon Kick-off 8:30pm EEST (3:30am AEST) Squad announced for this game and WCQ vs Jordan on 11 Sept: No sign of that broom...
So Luke DeVere must be injured. Dam wanted to see him play for the Aussie NT. http://www.theroar.com.au/2012/08/30/lebanon-leave-out-for-socceroos-hopefuls/ EDIT: Yep, just found out that Luke was left out of Gyeongnam's last match due to hamstring problems.
Well- here's news. http://www.smh.com.au/sport/football/scot-free-wavering-herd-gets-the-axe-20120829-2514f.html
Yeah, bit of a mess there. Iirc Herd's last withdrawal was pretty dubious, don't know about the other two. If Holger has reason to think he's ducking this he's within his rights not to call up. That said, it would be pretty disastrous if he went haggis on us over this.
Why would anyone choose by their own choice to represent Scotland who have been to 1 World Cup & 1 Euros in the past 20 years? If he chooses them, he must't be the full quid.
Which is why daddy dearest pops up to say it isn't so. http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/news/1118485/Herd-'shell-shocked'-by-Oseick-snub
Socceroos beat Lebanon 3-0 Tim Cahill and then Matt McKay found the back of the net within three minutes midway through the first half before Archie Thompson netted late to seal Australia's first triumph since February McKay netted his first international goal http://news.smh.com.au/breaking-news-sport/socceroos-beat-lebanon-30-20120907-25hy0.html
Alternate Match Report http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/s...on-3-0-in-beirut/story-e6frfg8x-1226466937620 Only thing of note was this:
I'm still trying to come to terms with how we actually lost to Scotland. And to honest, if he's thinking about it, then piss him off.
i liked what i saw, mckay got bullied physically here and there but his combination with bresciano allow us to spread the play and keep the ball so much more better than when either one of jedinak or valeri(or both!) are playing kruse is becoming a really good player and rukavytsya had his moments but needs to get involved more
We really don't have any up and coming CBs playing regularly besides him. Shane Lowry at Millwall probably deserves a call-up but I'm not sold on him. I have a sick feeling Holger is going to stick with Spiranovic in the foreseeable future. Not good enough.
Spiranovic has talent. He's worth persisting with. I like DeVere too. I'd like to see both brought through the side. We lack mobility in defence currently.
This is not confirmed yet, but it seems like we are most likely calling up only Domestic players. That means that players like Park Chu-Young, Ki Sung-Yong, Lee Chung-Yong, Son Heung-Min and other Euro-based Korean players wont be called up for this friendly. I assume Australia are calling up mainly domestic players and those in Asia as well....maybe?
Korea's squad for the friendly GK: Jung Sung-Ryong (Suwon) Kim Young-Kwang (Ulsan) DF: Hwang Suk-Ho (Hiroshima), Kim Ki-Hee (Al Sailiya), Jung In-Hwan (Incheon), Kim Young Kwon (Guangzhou Evergrande) Kim Chang-Soo (Busan) Choi Jae-Soo (Suwon), Shin Kwang-Hoon (Pohang) MF: Hwang Jin-Sung (Pohang), Lee Seung-Gi (Gwangju), Kim Hyung-Beom (Daejeon), Ha Dae-Sung (Seoul), Ko Myong-Jin (Seoul), Park Jong-Woo (Busan), Lee Keun-Ho (Ulsan) FW: Lee Dong-Guk (Jeonbuk), Kim Shin-Wook (Ulsan)
