Now that Shane is gone, I'm looking forward to this season more than I would have if he were still around...
Really? Shane was one of the only two compelling characters for me. I'm undecided about watching season 3. Leaning toward no.
I never actually read the comic, and seeing the screencap of that OP youtube video just spoiled a part of season 3 for me. Not that I wasn't half expecting it to happen though.
Same here, as much as I've thought that they've done a relatively poor job with the show up to this point I'm actually looking forward to seeing how they handle the prison arc. I am disappointed that they killed Dale already, but I look forward to seeing how Michonne fits in.
That makes two of us. Shane was my favorite character because he brought so much tension within the group. It won't be the same without him.
If they stay at all true to the comics (which they deviated from considerably for season two), the action at the prison should be beyond brutal. I somehow doubt they will take it quite that far though.
Yeah, this season could be amazing if they do it right. They will be no shortage of tension. It doesnt seem like there is going to be any living prisoners in the prison though so that removes some of the tension right away.
Sooooo... the premiere was pretty intense. Seems like they were trying to compensate for the relative inaction of last season with all the zombie-killing that many have clamored for.
Great season opener, the prison is a fantastic setting for many reasons: - it will take a while to clean it out block by block -supplies -survivors= no way you can trust them as they're in there for a reason, whether being a rapist/murderer -potentially a fire attracking moth like raiders
Yeah they almost or did go a bit overboard showing nearly every zombie killed. I still enjoyed it. This should be a great season.
I want the zombie disease to make them all lose their short term memories so they start to look for Sophia again!!!!!
If you're a DISH Network subscriber, no need to decide - no AMC, after all (Mrs. Ismitje is none too happy about this).
The wordless opening scene was well done. I'm loving that the series has jumped quite a few months ahead and we're now seeing a hardened motley crew of survivors. I could of done without the girls singing the longest song in the world but other than that they've set the season up rather nicely.
I didn't mind the song. I think it highlighted how long they have gone without any reference to their old lives. My guess is that's the first song or any type of comfort they've had since it hit the fan.
I hope Hershel makes it - one of my favorite characters. Great episode, and i love Ricks new fuck you attitude.
I think Herschel will make it or at least I hope he does. If he doesnt, having the baby is going to be even more problematic than it already is. I have to wonder if the baby is going to survive the birth. It just seems like a lot of trouble for this show and I am not sure if I want the show wasting time on that storyline.
Apparently they knew that would be a major hook, because they gave us nothing about Michonne. Disappointing, actually. Sort of pathetic that it took them 6 or 7 months to find it when they were but several hundred yards from it at the end of season two. Yeah, my friends (where I go to watch TV) switched to DirecTV just because of that. After being on DISH for 16 years. I don't want the show wasting anymore time on Lori. Though the notion that she and Rick are no longer talking, after 6+ months, is pretty interesting.
I suppose the ultra-visceral season premiere was meant as a reaction to the criticism of the show having become too slow and dull in season two. It was a pleasant surprise to see that the inmates storyline was kept intact. Though how true they will stay to the source material in that regard is another matter. With them killing off Sophia in season two, it appears as if Beth will now fill the role vacated by her in regard to her relationship with Carl.
My recording ended as soon as Rick finished hacking Herschel's leg. What happened after that? Oh and I hope that baby chews Lori from the inside out, I absolutely despise her. The actress doesn't help either.
