Hypothetically, if teams were placed in the following cities, what team names would you come up with? It doesn’t have to be the traditional Americanized version which is the city followed by a nickname, as it can follow the European model which uses names derived from historical references, figures, years, etc. Please be creative. Albany Albuquerque Atlanta Denver/Colorado Dayton El Paso Memphis New Orleans Ottawa Pittsburgh Sacramento San Antonio San Diego Syracuse
Some are serious and some are not. You figure out which are which... Albany Small Markets ShouldaTakenaLeftAt Albuquerque FC Atlanta Silverbacks Denver/Colorado Whatdoyameanwealreadyhaveateam?! Dayton Mapdots Old El Paso SC Memphis Blues or Memphis Rivermen New Orleans Jazz (does the NBA still own the rights?) -or- Mardi Gras FC FC Ottawa Pittsburgh Riverhounds Sacramento City San Antonio Scorpions San Diego Torpedoes Syracuse CT (College Town)
I'm only going to name teams that have the reasonable chances of being in MLS within the next 10 years New Mexico Chiles Atlanta Zombies Denver/Colorado rapids(yeah they are not an MLS team anymore) Memphis Electric AS Ottawa Pittsburg Fortress FC Sacramento Couger FC San Antonio scorpions San Diego Sockers
This thread is getting pretty hilarious and we're only on page 1! And please do. I'm always down to see new ideas for crests/kits. Speaking of which... Ottawa Royals FC (sweet crest/kit design: http://www.cansoc.org/showthread.php?42703-Ottawa-NASL-Logo-amp-Jersey-Concept) New Orleans Jesters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Orleans_Jesters)
Wow, those are some good looking kits. After my Milwaukee Bucks looked awful in urple and green I never thought I would see a team look good in it again. I mean seriously, it even lowered my views on the Harlequins jerseys.
some serious, some not ... Albany Senators Albuquerque Q's Atlanta Underground Denver Omlettles Dayton Wrights El Paso Axtalans Memphis Ribs New Orleans Hurricanes Ottawa Otters Pittsburgh Inclines Sacramento Tomatoes San Antonio Riverwalkers San Diego Top Guns Syracuse Cruisers
As in railroad? If so, then wow that is good. If not, explain please. LMFAO Absolutely brilliant! Even better than Denver! Too soon. Too soon.
Gonna try and go as Euro as possible to see if I can get some funny ones, maybe one or two decent ones. Getting all info from almighty Wikipedia. Albany and Hudson SC-The Corning's Club Deportivo Albuquerque or Albuquerque City-The Dukes Olympic Atlanta-The Phoenix Dayton Dutch Lions! Kidding....Dayton United-Aviators Sporting El Paso-The Rio's Memphis SC-Memphians New Orleans CCSC (Crescent City Soccer Club)-The Creoles Bytown Ottawa-The Capitalists Steel City AC-The Bridgers Sacramento City-The Indomitables AFC San Antonio-Los Alamos SC San Diego-The Vigilants Syracuse Heart
Yeah, not so much luck with funny names here... This, however, is real gem. Too bad a Pitt would never use it...
This is an honest question: why does coming up with names for teams that don't exist give so many fanboys a big blue veiner?
It breaks up the monotony of living in mom's basement? They suck at playing Halo online against twelve year olds. The girl at Starbucks said their ideas were cool....until she snuck into the ladies room and called 911. Just guesses.
not a Halo player sorry, much rather would be playing some Rugby, Soccer, or D&D with some friends. Also hate Starbucks coffee. And I live in my mom's basement until next semester in college. need to save my money and such. I just want to be able to imagine Milwaukee being able to have a pro team again. Our College and High School soccer scenes are way under rated and I hate having to go watch the longest running professional soccer team in the country (The Milwaukee Wave) play the crappy game that is MISL. ugh. Anyways back onto things that have to do with the subject at hand. Virginia has been awarded a NASL franchise. They are running a naming contest over at naslvirginia.com and I was just seeing what you guys could come up with.My thought was Virginia Sport Club. Would look nice in abbreviation as VSC. I know a lot of Virginia Teams are based off of naval themes, so maybe something like Virginia Clippers? I would much rather see a European styled name, but that's just me.
I see your name, and raise you with AFC Flushing Meadows and New York City-Abbreviation-AFCFM & NYC-I dare Adidas to fit all that on a crest!
