Couple of posts in another thread mentioned starting a thread for our 17-year old whiz kid, so I hope y'all appreciate the reference (couldn't think of something that rhymed with Draper-Pryce). Rodgers spoke a lot about Raheem in his interview in the latest Anfield Wrap and due to our deadline day debacle, we will no doubt be seeing a lot of him this year out of pure necessity. Opinions differ about whether or not that's good for a 17-year old to play as much as he (most likely) will, but there's no question that he will grow leaps and bounds this season by getting thrown in the deep end. He's already looked mature beyond his years, both in his confidence and, IMO, his physicality. He's not easily muscled off the ball and he can burn by most defenders with his blistering speed. I think Jenkinson did a very good job containing Sterling in our game against Arsenal, but I also think that so many games in a row has him a little burned out. Hope this isn't getting ahead of ourselves, but I like individual player threads to discuss the growth and development over the course of a season, and to have some in-depth analysis of specific players after each game.
As long as you don't call him the best LW in the world "Cody style" so we lose him with a tear to an ACL for a year.
Well I think he has great potential. He has pace and a very good first and second step. His touch is good and he is comforable on the dribble. And he has shown himself to be stronger than he looks both in holding the ball and in the tackle. Passing and shooting are good but not yet great. But he is two footed and eager to learn. I think we have a truly good prospect here. By the way hound Yesil looked to be the real deal in that Germany-Engerland U-18 match
Yep! I am surprised. But I guess Hodgon knows him from his time at LFC. Remember he fielded him in pre-season against BMG when Sterling was only 15! Plus Jamaica are sniffing around him.
Still think Hodgson doesn't know what he is doing with this call-up, but at least it means that Sterling is guaranteed a rest which he wouldn't have had with the U-19.
As long as England are winning I fully expect him to get subbed in to play like the last few minutes of the game just to win his cap and forever raise the middle finger to Jamaica.
A coworker who doesn't follow the sport even commented on how much abuse Sterling takes after watching that video.
outside of the Euros Neville has been generally praised as being an excellent commentator. I think last season he was praising someone on Liverpool as well.
Ferguson with a face like a smacked arse, Gary Nevile the dead spit of Herman Munster..... and that fat - ugly - money grubbing - bastard - Rooney God, how I hate your fucking team..!
