2013 Season Tickets

Glad to see most sections stay the same - feel a bit sorry for those in sections 3 and 36 that receive the squeeze - hopefully many of them locked in. The section 5 price doesn't make a lot of sense and why sections 13 and 14 are priced so differently makes even less sense.

But I have to give it up to the front office on this one - their ticket pricing strategy has worked very well over the past few years.

 

I'm shooting for section 35...when do they go on sale?

 

Luckily I have mine locked in from a few years ago....next season is my awesome $200/seat season. Gonna enjoy it while I can.

 

Ok, I have to ask. If I run the numbers and I buy KFC vouchers for every home game, I spend $300 a year. So, essentially, I get the same price as section 5, sit in section 6 and if I happen to have a scheduling conflict and miss a home game or two it's actually cheaper than the season tix.

So...what's the advantage. The cool STH scarf (I admit I'm jealous on that one), the meet the team stuff, extra perks of which I am not aware, or just that feeling of being the superior STH fan?

 

Price aside, I would assume the perk would be having a set seat and not worrying whether or not there will be KFC seats available. The gift is different each year, so it could be hit or miss on what you get. You get the 25% off merchandise all year, plus discounted extra tickets for games if you were to have other people want to go, and typically first choice on the extra playoff games.

The KFC seats are cheaper when you add in the $25 fee for buying season tickets. Guess it depends on how highly you value getting a free gift + cheaper stuff at the team store.

 

Sadly, Adidas does not make a 3XL size, so my purchases are limited. Dang, now you all know too much (and now Georg will never give me his Saborio jersey).

 

If you had to rip up the jersey for it to fit he might be ok with that.

 

I'm in section 3 with my last year of the locked prices upcoming. Looks like a $200 jump to stay the following season.

I'm in section 4 so thankfully my price is still the same. I see goob every time I walk to my seat with his banners held high. I was in section 14 the year before the price hike, that's when I made the jump to 4.

One other thing about the corners KFC/NE corner, you get some pretty terrible coverage from the roof. While the east side sucks for the sun, at least by the 25th minute the sun has dipped down for anyone not in the corner. Now if they'd just put some canopy or something blocking the roof gap there wouldn't be that 2nd burst of sun about 15 minutes after the roof blocks it..

 

I tried to find another thread with this kind of discussion in it, but couldn't. We're thinking Sections 25, 26 or 4, but any input on the pros and cons of these or other sections would be appreciated (we're in the $360 seats). The sun, supporters--proximity to them or advantages of being away from them, site-lines (preferences on how high up you like to be), etc.

If there's another thread I've missed that goes off on this tangent, let me know.

I'm in row B of section 4. I like the seats overall. We're just above the 18 and in the summer the sun isn't too bad. The roof blocks it about the 15th minute, then you get the crappier sun for about 5 mins when it dips between the roof and the stadium. If they'd just put some stupid canvas or something blocking the gap, the sun wouldn't be much of an issue at all.

I'd imagine if you were midway up the stands the gap sun would hit around halftime and not be a bother. Overall I love the seats where I'm at. If you go with 25/26, I'd assume 25 would be slightly better with having less sun to deal with. I used to be in 14 and the views there were really good and it was nice never dealing with the sun. (except those stupid midday games)

 

That's probably a matter of preference, but here are some of my thoughts:

I believe that soccer is best viewed at the RioT in rows 12-20 (or L through T) or thereabouts. Having said that, there's not really a bad view in the house.

The main differences you'll get between the three sections that you indicated is both the atmosphere and weather. I would guess that section 26 is somewhat exposed to the sun and rain (based on the location). However, the sun would be behind you for the most part. Both section 25 and 26 have strong supporters among their numbers.

Section 4 has less of a strong supporter base and more first timers and families. It's close to the official supporters section in the south end and so you get to witness (and hear) that atmosphere. The big drawback in that section is that you are often facing the late afternoon sun. We sit near the top of section 3 and we usually have the sun for the first half - down lower this would be less of an issue. Sitting up top we have coverage in the spring and fall if there is rain.

 

I'd have to agree on the overall view part. Being higher up does give a better overall view of the field, but I do enjoy being close enough to yell at the players and sometimes get a reaction. I'd say the only real bad views would have to be the bottom few rows behind each goal.

Do they still do the seating tours or whatever they were called? If you live close enough to go down to the stadium, I believe they can still show you around the sections you're interested in and you can check out the open seats and get a live view of where you'd be at.

 

Thanks! We went to the most recent open house and wandered around the stadium, trying to guess what the games would look like from various vantages, but we'll have to do that again, since it looks like a bunch more season seats have become available. I'll check into the tours.

Good thoughts on rows 12 - 20. It's tough to figure out the balance between close enough to see the details and being high enough up to get a good look at the whole pitch. I'll bet Row B is pretty sweet though!

Mrs. Mouse popped for season tix for Christmas, so we're pretty stoked.

 

I agree on being higher up. We used to have seats in section 27, row J. I liked being behind the goal and seeing the attack, but I wished I had been a few rows higher. When we bought them they had only opened up through row J, so it was as high as I could go. Back at RES, we didn't have that problem in section N22, but we quickly realized the benefit of being higher up at RioT. My cousin has Club Seats and is in row S or T. Perfect for seeing more of the field. To be honest, sometimes I would go sit in the upper deck just to have more of a bird's eye view of the field.

 

I've had seats in 3, 23, 24, and 25, currently in 25 for next year. The sun's limited in the NW corner. The seats are usually full and there are plenty of characters. A lot of players and families sit in section 23, so it's an interesting scene to be around. You don't have that much weather protection but you can flee to the covered areas pretty easily in the event of inclement weather.

 

I agree with 15 the highest row is the best in the lower bowl especially since we stand the whole time. I really like being in the south almost center we have a great view of the field and when the ball is on the north end we have the big screen. There are drawbacks being down there including kicking people out of our seats several times a year. Why would anybody argue with some who clearly has a ticket to the seat your sitting in? I like the view and the ST price in the south!

 

Ummm, Everyone knows 26 is THE best place to sit at the Riot. I forgot Senordrummer was a fellow 22'er from the RES days.

I think 26 is better than 25, because 25 is quite tucked in the corner. However, the atmosphere over there can be great at times. 26 has gotten people a little more used to standing and cheering, but it doesn't compare to 35 or the south end.

Upper deck is really cool, but you do have to brave the bird poop from time to time.

If you sit in 26, you can talk to the guys that run the flags and maybe arrange to do it yourself if interested.

 

I'd agree with that. I'm in the south goal with the supporters because I like the atmosphere, but if I were just going to sit and watch the games I'd try to be first row, upper deck, close to the center line. Great view from up there.
