At long last we have tables. Enclose table data in bbcode tags Use "\" to add rows. Please remember to have this at the beginning of a line Use "|" to separate columns in a row NOTE: You can format text in each cell BUT each cell's text has to be formatted separately. See attached example. THIS: Code: [table]letter|number|word \a|1|neat \b|2|ugly [/table] PRODUCES THIS letternumberword a1neat b2ugly AND THIS PRODUCES THIS
Oh, good! I begged off my old table thread partly because it was so impossible to post tables. But I will see if I can't sit down this weekend and post some of the tables I've posted in years past. If it works well, then great. If it needs tweaks, I'll follow up here.
So, here: https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/...layoff-situation.1974653/page-3#post-26467126 Two thoughts for now ... 1. Way too much white space. Hence the tables are too big to read easily. Can we make the buffers smaller so the tables are considerably more compact? 2. Formatting these with colors and such would be a nightmare. You have to be able to format groups and sets of entries as units, not just individual entries on its own. In other words, there should be an easy way for me to distinguish between playoff and non-playoff teams.
I agree with knave regarding the white space, however, I also appreciate the effort to get this working so if it takes a while to revisit and cleanup a bit I am not worried at all. column acolumn bcolumn c blueblueblue greengreengreen redredred
Huss, I'm trying to create tables using your instructions, but it doesn't work. All I get when I post a reply is exactly what I typed. Here: Code: [table]letter|number|word \a|1|neat \b|2|ugly [/table] Any suggestions?
I've added a post on my website which includes a VBA script to help exporter data from excel to a table - http://www.notunusual.net/2012/11/02/bigsoccer-com-excel-table-builder-script/
Yeah I had to move providers a few months back and haven't gotten around to setting the site up again, i'll get to it soon.
The script would be a little more interesting if basic formatting info of each cell (italic, bold, underline, color [text and background], left-right justification) could be included. I don't even know if BigSoc has this feature in its table entries. Otherwise I just find it easier to copy a spreadsheet to Notepad, mass-replace the tab characters with the vertical bar, add the header-tail, and the backslash to start each line, then manually format the entries that require them.
