My Nike ID order shipped today, coming from Viet Nam. I'm assuming they are made there, anyone gotten a pair and noticed any difference between Italy or Bosnia pairs?
While I can't attribute to how it performs on 3G (why on earth would you wear anything other than conical studs on turf?), for me it works fantastically well on firm ground. It works perfectly on 'firm ground' and I feel no stud pressure at all when using it on there. I feel the Vapors are Nike's best boot for some time, probably since the AZTs that you mention. The upper on the Seaweed version is unbelievable, really very comfortable and I love the soleplate. All personal opinion though and you've made it clear you aren't a fan of Adidas or Nike.
I never have had an issue with blades on turf, but post ACL surgery I don't think I am going to be doing it much at all anymore. The reality of American soccer is that if you want to use the Vapor, you are using it on turf. The shoe is lovely on Bermuda grass, but if the ground is harder than moist the shoe isn't penetrating in my experience. On the east coast of America humidity reaches between 85% and 95% daily in the late spring until about now. That coupled with the lack of rain and baking sun dries out the ground to the point of it feeling like slightly soft cement. The Vapor blades don't go through the surface, but many other stud layouts do; conical and blades for that matter. I like both adidas and Nike....I just don't like when they make shoes that fall apart in limited use or they overcharge by 5000% on the mark up for low quality materials made with crap labor.
Slight contradiction in your post surely? Why would other 'bladed' stud configurations work and the Vapor one doesn't? The blades on the Vapors are sharper and thinner, meaning they're much more likely to penetrate the ground.
Quick question - can anybody find a picture of the CR Vapor VIIIs? Can't find it anywhere and I'm pondering whether to buy another pair of Seaweed Vapors now or wait till October for CRs version.
Length wise theyre ok its just the width but i know .5 is far too big! Ill try them on sat n hopefully ill survive
Ive got the mangoes! Im usually an 11 but sized down as the vapor 8s i tried on sat were too long The cr7 boots are out in november last i heard
2nd_striker Vapors have almost never been forgiving on wide feet. JonIsAnOwl How are your seaweed vapors holding up? I was going to purchase a brand new pair off a team mate for $100, although if the durability issues still remain I'll probably just go for some Pathiqes. Could it be that a made in Italy pair would be more durable?
I was ok with vapor 3s by sizing up .5 Superflys were all great in my normal size! Think I shouldnt worry so much about length and worry more about strangling my feet
@ mercirisl4991 Mine were made in Italy & they're starting to get a slight tear on the side above the plate by the big toe. Noticed after about 8 hrs in them. Haven't really inspected to see if there were anymore or if it got larger since though.
Aw, thank's for the info man. Look's like I wont be getting another pair of vapors till the next release.
No, not at all. I think the flaw is in lack of critical thinking you applied to the question. By your logic all things that are similar should work the same........that would be a very interesting world to live in. The layout of the blades/studs, their design, and what they do when contacting the surface matters. The shorter blades and studs with more equally distributed force across the point of contact will do a better job of breaking the surface layer of the ground. There will be more grip because a large group of smaller studs or blades will hold on to the ground that has been broken. Depth is relevant here, but not as you want to apply it. This is why turf outsoles and HG outsoles exist and have existed for years. As someone that reviews boots, you should be familiar with this concept. And finally, the Vapor blades are not sharp on the bottom, which presses into the ground, they are sharp on the corners. That sharpness is what I suspect gashed Rooney, and it would only serve to scrape the ground and not penetrate it.
That doesn't make any sense? JC said other bladed boots were more likely to penetrate the ground.. I wasn't mentioning anything about what you've highlighted...?
In my hands I've got a pair of Vapor VIIIs firm ground and the classic bladed Predator outsole. In terms of design, the Vapors are designed to quickly enter the ground and leave it easily, whereas the Predator outsole is designed to 'stick' into the ground. On harder ground, the Predator outsole is nigh on impossible to wear with any stability. The studs simply don't enter hard ground. The Vapor ones shouldn't work either. Of course I know about HG outsoles. But they aren't designed to 'penetrate' the ground, and are more designed to (as you say) distribute pressure more evenly. By your theory, because the Vapor studs are smaller they should be able to pierce the ground more forcibly, but because of the smaller number of them they don't? Yet, larger blades pierce the ground better because they distribute pressure better? Personally, in my eyes, the perfect combination would be the Vapor blades but more of them on the outsole. I can't wear blades on hard ground, because it makes me feel like I'm wearing ice skates and I can't strike the ball without slipping. The Vapors do a better job. This is all subjective however and it's my opinion, so you're bound to disagree (you argumentative so and so ). I'm in no position to judge what pattern is better, Nike claim that the Vapors enter the pitch easily and so provide extra traction. It may be a lie, who knows? The Predator (or bladed) outsole is designed for stability on firm ground and definitely not hard ground. THEORETICALLY, the Vapor outsole should work better (according to Nike). As we've established though, the best way to go is to get a hard ground outsole with conical studs. In my eyes, Nike have designed the Vapor outsole for British pitches, or professional pitches anyway. Definitely not 3G or hard ground. So for you who lives in America (correct me if I'm wrong) and play on hard pitches, will no doubt have had a completely different experience to me. Our hard ground is no doubt different to yours.
The way the ground in london is at the moment, i.e. rock hard i think thered be problems with fg stud longevity
That's not what I'm worried about, if they still have that problem then they most likely still have studs snapping off.
Like I said, mine feel fine.. Very solid and can't see them falling apart. Wholeheartedly recommend them to you if you like Vapors.
Could someone explain to me all the hype about vapors? Dont get me wrong I had a pair of the iii's and iv's but then the adizero came out which is much better than the vapors for what it's made for -lightness.
The hype is: Now lighter than the AdiZeros (get a miCoach pair and test it) Vapor synthetic is one of the best on the market Excellent fit Some people will argue design Performance Very comfortable compared to last versions Believe me, I like the AdiZeros a lot.. But I can understand what people mean when they say Vapors are one of the best boots on the market..
