College football is back! SEC sucks (even if they kick the shit out of all our teams). Penn State is obliterated off the face of the earth. Ohio has Urban Meyer and tons of new-found ESPN love. Michigan spots Alabama 21 points before deciding to play on Saturday. :dies: Commence shit-talking...
Wisky will win the conference by default. OSU shouldn't be on the list considering they aren't eligible for the championship game.
I'll take Wisconsin, the best team in the conference any damn how. The SEC doesn't really suck- it's that LSU and Bama get sucked off by Georgia, Florida (minus Tebow and Spurrier), Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Arkansas and Auburn (minus Cam) every time a non-LSU or non-Bama fan shouts "SEC!!!"
I find it hard to rank the teams after just one week. Especially when I didn't watch all the games or know what their objectives were as far playing young players, vanilla schemes, etc... However, I guess my first impressions are in no particular order of rank... Michigan - I take nothing away from their whipping by Alabama. Alabama would have done the same thing to every team in the B1G. Ohio State - About what I expected. Braxon Miller is going to be a beast. I think their defense can be had though. Nebraska - Offense was better than I expected. Defense is about what I expected. (not impressive) Neb UCLA might have some real fireworks. Early prediction, Neb. 48, UCLA 38 Michigan State - Maybe most impressive team with a gritty win over Boise. Defense is good. I thought there QB played better than stat line. I know I saw him hit one WR in stride for sure TD and WR batted it to the defender for INT. Wisconsin - Predictable vanilla gameplan with new coaches and players but still should have taken care of business better. Sounds like they could have gone P/A over the top all game but chose not to. Not as good as last year but not a team to be taken lightly.
Any chance of the mod in here (I don't even know who that is) can change the thread title to "The Chico13 Memorial Big Ten Thread"? Here's this weekend's slate: Big Ten Week Two Guide (All times Eastern) Saturday, 8 Sept 12:00 - New Hampshire (1-0) at Minnesota (1-0), BTN 12:00 - Penn State (0-1) at Virginia (1-0), ABC 12:00 - Central Florida (1-0) at #14 Ohio State (1-0), ESPN2 3:30 - Indiana (1-0) at Massachusetts (0-1), ESPN3 3:30 - Iowa State (1-0) at Iowa (1-0), BTN 3:30 - Purdue (1-0) at #22 Notre Dame (1-0), NBC 3:30 - Air Force (1-0) at #19 Michigan (0-1) 3:30 - #11 Michigan State (1-0) at Central Michigan (1-0), ESPNU 4:00 - #13 Wisconsin (1-0) at Oregon State (0-0), FX 7:30 - #16 Nebraska (1-0) at UCLA (1-0), FOX 8:00 - Vanderbilt (0-1) at Northwestern (1-0), BTN 10:30 - Illinois (1-0) at Arizona State (1-0), ESPN

Is there a method to that madness or just a random upset? My Picks: 12:00 - New Hampshire (1-0) at Minnesota (1-0), BTN 12:00 - Penn State (0-1) at Virginia (1-0), ABC 12:00 - Central Florida (1-0) at #14 Ohio State (1-0), ESPN2 3:30 - Indiana (1-0) at Massachusetts (0-1), ESPN3 3:30 - Iowa State (1-0) at Iowa (1-0), BTN 3:30 - Purdue (1-0) at #22 Notre Dame (1-0), NBC 3:30 - Air Force (1-0) at #19 Michigan (0-1) 3:30 - #11 Michigan State (1-0) at Central Michigan (1-0), ESPNU 4:00 - #13 Wisconsin (1-0) at Oregon State (0-0), FX 7:30 - #16 Nebraska (1-0) at UCLA (1-0), FOX 8:00 - Vanderbilt (0-1) at Northwestern (1-0), BTN 10:30 - Illinois (1-0) at Arizona State (1-0), ESPN
Well, Michigan had no business whatsoever being ranked preseason and even less than no business now. It won't be an upset IMO if the Eagles win.
HHM's predictions: Minny 28, UNH 10 Penn State 17, Virginia 14 Ohio State 54, UCF 7 Indiana 10, UMass 7 Iowa State 31, Iowa 20 Notre Dame 28, Purdue 17 Michigan 45, Air Force 21 Michigan State 48, Central Michigan 14 Wisconsin 24, Oregon State 14 Nebraska 28, UCLA 24 Vandy 34, Northwestern 31 Arizona State 42, Illinois 6
SO, I'm watching Ohio run the ball with their QB on purpose, repeatedly, and to good effect. SO, I'm f'n wondering, why our the coaches at my college too f'n dumb to realize they should be doing the same thing with our QB? Idiots. Welcome back to the stone age.
Braxton has 107 yards on the ground by himself. If you had any other offensive weapons, you'd be up 3 scores. We've got good running backs and adequate receivers. We should have a better offense. You guys just ran a QB sweep out of trips left for a score. We haven't run that once since RR left. Our coaches have turned the best running QB in the nation into an average passer. And, they've turned our best passing QB into a WR. I'm losing faith in Al Borges.
I have been listening to the OSU PBP on the radio and they seem to think most of miller's yards are coming from broken plays. Some of his runs are designed, some not.
A few of them are draws on 5-wide, no-back sets. I think they could very well be designed runs or "single pass read and run" plays - similar to Cam Newton at Auburn.
You can't say that now given how poorly Wisconsin played at Corvalis. Monte Ball was completely contained in the game. The replacement for Wilson, is not Wilson and he was a winner.
That was a very competitive game. Robinson continues to have issues with his performance from the pro set.
There was a poll following the UCLA vs. Nebraska game asking which is the best conference. I wish people could be honest with themselves. SEC got 56 percent of the vote, but the Big Ten got 22 percent. Come on people do a fair appraisal. For once don't be homers.
Yes, that was the case in the first game. I didn't see today's game, but the single pass read and run is the biggest load of crap play imaginable. Newton played that all the time at Auburn. Ugh! For me it says, my quarterback has issues making reads and I recognize that at this point in his development he is a better runner than passer so I'm going to give the defense fits and have him drop wait three seconds and then run. Ask Vince Young how well that has worked out for him in the NFL.
