To quote Phil Leotardo: A couple of three things:

    1.
    Show Spoiler
For Fulham fans week 1 is a distant dream, they're getting hammered by West Ham today.

    2. Deuce is a very good player and the Spurs didn't pay a lot of $$$ to sit him on the bench
    3. In order to be hated you have to be really good, the amount of hate for Deuce only reinforces how good he actually is

They may never take the field together- now that Spurs have Lloris, Friedel will be 2nd choice GK.

from what I've seen, the Sunderland and Villa fans kind of knew Deuce wasn't gonna go to them. Liverpool really has no reason to boo when Clint was begging to go there.

Spurs probably had the transfer window of anybody outside of Chelsea.

Adebayor has been given the #10 shirt again. Wikipedia has Clint as #9 but haven't seen anything official.

I prefer Balotelli's tweet about it. "Clint Dempsey: I've been dreaming about this for the last 30 minutes of my life."

Oh and how much were Fulham planning to pay Dempsey a week had he stayed? I recall they were willing to double his ages but unsure to what exact figures

Wow. Spurs really need a goal-scorer on the field. The question shouldn't be "Who can Dempsey displace" but rather "Who will play best with Dempsey". They are hurting terribly in the final third. I know Lennon is very, very fast but he can't finish (or pass well). I'd sit him and play both Dempsey and Dembele.

PS-- how pissed off is FSC now that they have their special behind-the-scenes series on Liverpool airing in America? It would have been a big boon to them to have a high-profile American join the squad.

Well this of sucks. Liverpool handled this situation like amateurs. Dempsey looks like he may get the Pienaar treatment at Tottenham. I can't help but be a debby-downer on this move, it hurts too much! I'm not sure I will even watch "Being Liverpool" now, I'm pretty disgusted with the Reds brain trust right now.

Spurs booed off the pitch at halftime. Lennon and Defoe look like shite. Dempsey will definitely get minutes at this rate.

A bad day Lennon still crosses the ball better than Dempsey. I'm not sure any minutes are guaranteed.

I'm sure he's also the tallest hobbit in North London. Good for him.

I don't know enough about AVB to know if this has generally been true with him, but someone here posted this when the Tottenham link was first reported on by Sky over a week ago:

Dempsey, Dembele, can definitely get into a starting lineup.

I have no idea why fans of decent sides in Europe overrate their teams so much. Especially when it comes to players like Lennon.

Nationality, my friend. Same reason we were so pissed that Luke Rodgers was starting over Agudelo .

That isn't going to be his job. Nor shoudl it be (mind you, Lennon is a bad crosser too). Spuds are going to play cutting, inverted wingers, at which CD is excellent.

+1. There is a direct relationship to how much he is hated and how much those fans actually wanted him on their club.

Just that an offer was made does not constitute an obligation for him (or Fulham) to accept it. He was pretty clear all along that he wanted to go to CL club. Tottenham is actually the closest to that out of all the clubs reported to have made an offer. Arsenal might have been a more ideal fit, but they never stepped up. Should Arsenal fans now be hating him for not having done more to interest the club?

    Hey, thats me!

The caveat I'll throw out there is that AVB had some incredible talent at Porto. Hulk, Falcao, Moutinho, etc.

Here is an article I read about him when he switched to Chelsea. I see Bale as a possible Hulk replacement. I think Dempsey can play either behind a striker or on the left cutting in, allowing Benoit EE to bomb forward. I think Lennon, Bale, and Dempsey can also be really good as a 4231 in the 3 line. Like so: Lennon Dempsey Bale

or, Dempsey behind Ade in a 4411 with Lennon and Bale as tradional wingers putting balls into the box for two guys pretty good in the air. Dempsey allows for versatility that VDV never would have.

How bad is Lennon..guy has no confidence and looks unsure of himself. Sandro another that looked aweful and was rightfully subbed at half. Formations aside Deuce will somehow work in the first 11. J Defoe, Sandro and Lennon just aren't at the level of Clint
