I meant to say who got shafted from a Group Birth to qualifying. Personally I'd say qualifying is a bit of a shalf investing extra games thinking you weren't supposed to at first. Especially before your season even starts (for most leagues)
No one got shafted from the Group Stages. Before anything even begins, the allocation is selected: Title Holder, 12 champions from coefficients 1-12, runner ups from coefficients 1-6, third place teams from coefficients 1-3. If the title holder comes from one of these positions, then the champion of coefficient 13 takes the 22nd Group Stage spot. No one gets screwed. The only time that the title holder wouldn't be able to participate in Champions League is if they are relegated.
Pot1 Barcelona Chelsea Bayern Monaco Arsenal Porto Milan Manchester United Real Madrid Pot2 Valencia Benfica Zenit San Pietroburgo Shakhtar Manchester City Schalke 04 Sporting Lisbona Braga Dinamo Kiev Pot3 Ajax Anderlecht Juventus Lilla Spartak Mosca Psg Galatasaray Celtic Glasgow Pot4 Borussia Dortmund Bate Borisov Dinamo Zagabria Cluj Montpellier Olimpiakos Nordsjaelland Malaga
The draw is on August 30th, 17:45 live on Eurosport 11:45 EST Hopefully Juve get a manageable draw. Would really suck if they get two strong teams in pot 1 and 2 (ie. Man city and Barce) and Dortmund in pot 4
oops forgot thanks as long as we avoid city and dortmund , we should be able to cope with a top of the line opponent for pot 1 tho
Bring on Manchester City. What have they done? Eliminated by the true champions of Italy in the group stage!
LOL - Sure. I saw Manchester City fans go bipolar on the last day of the season. I don't follow the EPL that strongly but do watch their matches. If you guys are afraid of Manchester City, then call the Juve offices and tell them to do a Udinese. There is nothing to fear about City. Just because their ownership threw away a lot of money on exotic names does not make them a powerhouse. They failed last season at the group stage. If they get us, it will happen again. I do support Juve.
I'm actually with Falc on this. City hasn't looked threatening to me at all so far. Nearly pissing away 3 points at home to Southampton and then drawing a Liverpool team that might actually be fighting to finish in the top 10 does not inspire confidence.
