San Jose is leading the league with 47pts..... Code: 1.Kansas City 26 2.New York 24 3.Chicago 24 4.DC United 23 5.Seattle 23 6.Houston 21 7.Columbus 19 8.Real Salt Lake 19 9.CD Chivas 16 10.Los Angeles 14 11.Vancoover 14 12.Phialdelphia 13 13.Montreal 10 14.FC Dallas 6 15.Colorado 6 16.New England 6 17.Portland 4 18.Toronto 3
Here, this is better: http://www.mlssoccer.com/standings/supporters-shield TFC will be mathematically eliminated with their next draw or loss.
TFC are already mathematically eliminated. KC (46 points) and New York (44 points) still play each other 3 times. There is no possible way for them to play each other three times and one of them not to have more than 47 points - ergo, it's impossible for TFC to win the Supporters Shield with any combination of results from now until the end of the season.
You're probably right. These kinds of useless calculations make my nostrils hurt. But, just to be an insufferable dick, if TFC won their remaining 9 games they'd end up with 47 points, tied with either of them or SJ.
Nope. 3 more games for KC and NYC KC wins all 3 and lose every other game, they have 55 points. KC and NY draw all 3 games, and lose every other game, KC 49 points, NY 47 points. KC and NY Draw 2 and NY wins 1; KC 48 points NY 49 points. KC and NY Draw 1 and NY wins 2; KC 47 points NY 51 points. Toronto already lost the S.S. to one of them as vividox pointed out.
By "more than 47", I meant "more than 47", not "47 or more". [/pedantic semantics] Right now, it is impossible for a Supporter Shield winner to win the shield with anything less than 49 points. So any team that can't hit 49 is out of the SS race. Portland will be knocked out this weekend if KC wins, NY wins and Portland draws, SJ wins and Portland draws, or if Portland loses.
A bit off topic, but I like this pic... (Noticed that the engravings are a little mis-align for Winners in 2008 - 2010 though...) http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012/08/24/armchair-analyst-and-down-stretch-they-come
Portland still hanging on by a thread - they can finish with 51. Colorado and New England still hanging on by an even smaller thread - they can finish with 50 and theoretically overcome the goals scored tiebreaker.
By the way, just crurious: 1. Are there pictures with the engravings for the 2011 win by L.A.? (as well as those for the 1996-2000 winners) 2. Base on the engravings space remaining, the trophy should last for another 14 years? (given that 15 seasons of engravings have occupied about 50% of the base plate space...)
FCD is also hanging on that thread. Their Max is also 50 pts since they only have 6 games left. Looks to me like all these teams could be eliminated from the SS race this week: New England Portland Philadelphia Colorado Dallas
San Jose is leading the league with 50pts. Code: 1.Kansas City 21 2.Seattle 20 3.New York 19 4.Chicago 18 5.DC United 17 6.Houston 16 7.Columbus 16 8.Real Salt Lake 14 9.Los Angeles 11 10.CD Chivas 10 11.Vancoover 8 12.Phialdelphia 8 13.Montreal 7 14.Portland 1 15.FC Dallas 0 16.Colorado 0 17.New England 0 18.Toronto Eliminated
No issues, the comment was just a mid-week follow-up base the neat table you've put-up after every weekend... Keep up the good work!
All these teams (other than Philadelphia) are mathematically out this week, while Philadelphia and Montreal will be eliminated once S.J. earn another 1 and 2 more points, respectively. Chivas and Vancouver are hanging by a thread as well (just 3 more points for S.J. will do)...
Perhaps one of the sharpest picture of the trophy... More on FB at: http://www.facebook.com/MLSSupportersShield/photos_stream

A win by S.J. over Chivas this week shall eliminate the three teams below, regardless of what happen in their respective matches:
San Jose is leading the league with 56pts Code: 1.Kansas City 13 2.Chicago 12 3.New York 11 4.Seattle 10 5.DC United 6 6.Houston 5 7.Real Salt Lake 5 8.Los Angeles 5 9.Columbus 4 10.Vancoover Eliminated (Week #28) 11.Montreal Eliminated (Week #28) 12.Phialdelphia Eliminated (Week #28) 13.CD Chivas Eliminated (Week #27) 14.Portland Eliminated (Week #26) 15.FC Dallas Eliminated (Week #26) 16.Colorado Eliminated (Week #26) 17.New England Eliminated (Week #26) 18.Toronto Eliminated (Week #25)
In Week #28, the season has moved past the fifth-sixth milestone (83.33%). In Week #29, should San Jose win again, the following teams will be eliminated, if they lose their respective games. (For Columbus, anything less than a win will rule them out...)
