That's my Congresscritter. Makes me proud to have voted for his opponent.

Unfortunately this isn't likely to hurt Kevin as he's running unopposed in November. As embarrassing as he is he doesn't hold a candle to our RWNJ Governor, Sam Brownback.

I can see Sam doing the same exact thing. He'd call it a 'Baptism. '

They need to be re-cut then to show their true loyalty to the cause.

As much as I want this to be some sort of embarrassment, I just don't see anything wrong with getting drunk and skinny dipping. Even if the trip was a boondoggle paid for with tax dollars. I think our country and leadership could use more drunken naked nights together.

Why should it hurt him? What did he do wrong?

It doesn't read as tho this particular event is the reason KCFutbol used the term "unfortunate".

    It really doesn't, dude.

Acted like a drunken frat boy on spring break? I expect my congressman to act with a bit more dignity when he's out representing his constituents.

    YMMV.

The big deal, apparently, has to do with one of the congressmen who left Israel to go on a junket to Cyprus paid for by a pro-Cyprus group. THAT is what the FBI was investigating.

Apparently Eric Cantor had a problem with it.

On the whole, he did nothing wrong, but is this how you want a congressman behaving? Weiner taking a picture of his junk or Lee posing for pictures for online dating didn't do anything 'wrong' either.

Exactly. Yoder is one of the family-values, right wing Republicans. I expect him to walk the walk. But he's like Limbaugh, "family-values" but he's on his 4th marriage.

I admit to having skinny dipped in the Sea of Galilee as well. (near Tiberias) (My hosts called it Lake Kinneret) As much as I like to see GOP congressmen embarrassed I have no idea why this would do so.

Were you this offended when your Congressman voted for the Patriot Act*?

    * if not true, insert most personally despised law here.

    That is what offends me.

Pretty much everything the R's do offends me. For Kevin specifically, it's his right-wing, family-values hypocrisy that is offensive.

I could hope this would kill his re-election chances in November but he is running essentially unopposed.

Wouldn't it be better for him to lose because he supports terrible policies instead of because a bunch of stuck up morons think this escapade actually matters?

Tea Party ass******** takes lobbyist's money for a junket trip.

Tea Party ass******** voters don't realize that the only difference between their corrupt Tea Party ass******** candidates and the conventional candidates that they loathe for "playing the system" is that the Tea Party ass******** candidates never pass any goddammned legislation.

    Does that cover it?

Let's face it, if this story didn't come out at the same time as Congressman Legitimate Rape, this would have been a bigger story. The vultures are enjoying Akin because of the ties to the Presidential Campaign.

Congressman doing stupid things in their free time is such an everyday occurrence.

    It was not tax-payer funded:
That, to me, is the big deal. That seems more like a vacation.

To be clear, though, I'm not saying only Reps do this. But nobody here seems to care that it happened at all. Well, maybe JohnR does.

If all the people on the trip are of the same party (including their staffers), its a bit more than a vacation. Funded junkets aren't all-inclusives to Hedonism II.
