    Its programming:

It is now #3 as a soccer-only channel behind FOX Soccer and BeIN Sport. Is there room for 3?

I don't mind beIN purchasing GolTV if there will be more live matches for the rights already obtained plus the Bundesliga. I bet that is a contingency plan if Fox retains the EPL.

I must be in the minority becuase I still see more interesting footy on GolTV than I do on BeIn Sports. Hopefully U-Verse will get BeIn but if they don't I'll be happy with FSC and GolTV.

If I were to guess, GOLTV will be booted off the DIRECTV Sports Tier to make room for PAC-12 Network National by the end of September or October.

The absolute drop-dead date for DIRECTV to add PAC-12 Network National on Channel 626 (same as the telephone area code of the Rose Bowl) is Friday September 21. Otherwise viewers will miss Cal @ USC on September 22.

Well then Goltv will basically just die off then. Slowly but surely with only being in the Spanish only package.

Couldn't they add it right before kickoff and be ok? I remember back in 2006, many Comcast viewers didn't get ESPN2HD until right before the World Cup started, or was that "right down to the wire" not as close as I assumed? I always thought of it as "with just a few hours to go, or sometimes even closer."

You could be right though. A lot of people could be setting up disconnects for 9/21 or 9/22. Even with contract terminations, if done right, a "new customer discount" could make a termination fee not too financially painful.

It will be interesting to see what happens to bundesliga if goltv doesn't make it. It would be nice if fsc would make push for it as they have only epl. I could survive then without bein since I am not really in need of their programming as long as I have access to epl and bundesliga.

Simple: Bundesliga goes to ESPN3.com & ESPN Deportes. No extra production cost required because ESPN Latin America now airs 5 Bundesliga matches each week, taking over from GOLTV Latin America which gave up on the product.

Really? That is big news. Goltv, needs to come up with a new strategy, but the problem here is money. And unless someone buys Goltv, I too see few days ahead.

The most common Bundesliga start time is 30 minutes before the most common EPL start time. I guess if Fox bought the rights they could show live Bundesliga games Saturday at 9:30 A.M. and 12:30 P.M. (USA Eastern) on FS+ with FS+ showing delayed EPL after that.

Would be suicidal for FOX to keep FOX Soccer as an all-soccer network if its were to lose EPL.

Bundesliga on GOLTV often draws less than 10000 viewers per match on Saturdays at 9:30am ET.

Anyone know why this season they are not showing both River Plate and Boca Juniors games live? Through the first two weeks, they only showed one team or the other, and last week the Boca Juniors game was tape delayed.

The contract calls for one "Clasico del Domingo" each weekend plus all River Plate matches as long as River was in the 2nd division. Now that River has returned to the 1st division, GOLTV gets either River or Boca, but not both unless they were to play each other.

Obviously GOL TV getting knocked off of Sports Tiers would be a big blow financially, but on the flipside of that, now that they aren't shelling out cash for La Liga rights they aren't spending as much money either. I don't see why they can't survive on spanish tier.

So is GolTV 100% spanish? I always thought there were some games in spanish and some in english. I'm getting U-Verse next week and was looking for some Bundesliga (and other games) in english.

I'm hoping we still get Phil Bonnie and Alan Fountain on the Bundesliga matches, but I fear that they're going to stick those clowns Juan Arango and George Metellus on them as they did for the German SuperCup.

The rumor mill is pointing to a potential sale. I believe, that sooner rather than later, beIN will be purchasing Goltv.

Think about this, Goltv was able to survive the August negotiation with many of the top carriers in the US. So by beIN purchasing Goltv, they will have automatic distribution, and they will have a better negotiation hand.

No only is beIN giving the channel away, they are paying for distribution, and all of this can be fixed by purchasing Goltv.

I am just shock, that beIN is struggling with common sence business decisions.

    What gives?

Yea the heads at BeIN are clueless. They could bought Goltv and just renamed it and boom, distribution on Directv plus alot of cable systems and they could have just had to negotitate with DISH. They basically went the stupid long and painful route for basically the same thing. I mean they would have been on channel 620 on Directv if they just bought Goltv which they are now but are in way less homes because no cable companies have them.

And they could have had 2 HD channels with 426 and 620 but now they have one SD and one HD.

GOLTV, Inc. was available lock, stock, and barrel for around $250 million, or 80% stake for $200 million.

If beIN SPORT LLC were to win all U.S. and Canadian rights to EPL as well, then the company would commit over $600 million through May 2016, if not closer to $800-900 million, with no net subscriber revenue for at least the 1st year.

How much good PR can you really buy for that kind of money? I honestly don't know.

I will tell you the following:

Viewers in Canada who want to watch La Liga are not happy right now. (Serie A will be available on RAI Int'l so there is a way to go around the lack of a "beIN SPORT Canada" right now.)

I hope Gol continues to thrive and I hope Fox holds onto EPL. When one network has too much football viewers suffer because games get pushed to the Internet, not shown at all, or screwed up in some way. For example, Gol had a 5th Bundesliga pick but never showed that game. Sometimes a 4th game wasn't even shown on TV if ESPN pushed the game to ESPN3. Fox Soccer has two channels yet some EPL games are pushed to the Internet. And Fox Deportes continually butchers CONMEBOL club competitions by starting games late, editing delayed games, or not showing games while repeating CL games multiple times. But now that Serie A and Ligue 1 (which was mostly relegated to the Internet) are with BeIN, Gol should show the 5th Bundesliga match, Fox should show all EPL games, and Fox Deportes should get their act together. None of this will happen, but it could since each network has less leagues to cover. Again, ideally BeIN will not get EPL and will stay the course, showing 6+ La Liga matches, 6 Ligue 1 matches, and hopefully the same number of Serie A games. Now if they can only refrain from hiring any other US commentators, life will be good.
