I saw Beasley down after the game and the announcers said it was in jubilation, however he looked like he was in pain. Any news on that?

As if your country would ever or will ever be in the spot to make such a choice.

    Child please.

Then aren't you happy that YOUR country won in Azteca last night?

You're not even Mexican then. Man you must have some serious self confidence issues, can't even be proud of where you're from.

Wasn't backhanded at all. Similarly to Mexico winning a FIFA tournament (aside from Confederations) to propel team's belief, this win does the same for the US.

Good luck with the sun thing and all. Since this is a bit of a soccer forum, I would wager to bet that Mexico's gold medal means something around here.

    Again, congrats on the win.

That would explain why Mexico sucks at everything BUT soccer. And drug cartel murders.

Hey, they're pretty good at synchronized diving. I guess it was a natural transition from grass to water, though.

Is it always going to be this?

Is anyone going to say how competantly Beckerman, Orozco and Castillo played? I mean, just dogged out since the roster was released and they played great. Especially Beckerman. One bad clearance in the first half, maybe 1 or 2 giveaways but he was on his game all night. I'm sure we'll get more complainers next time he is called up though.

Castillo for me is our backup LB without question.

Orozco is what he is but I was on here having to argue that George John and Jalil Anibaba were not better than him. He is probably our 6th best CB, and he performed admirabily.

The groans for these players when the roster is released are mostly unwarranted.

    This.

My family is from Mexico City, every time I go there, I get a terrible headache the first 2-3 days and my throat tightens up like I have strep. Climbing more than 3 sets of stairs require a break and I'm in good shape (play soccer 2-3 times a week)
Your boogers actually turn black, I know TMI...but this is what our guys have to deal with.

OTOH, if I spend more than a month there, when I come back...to sea level. I feel like superman, I can sprint and recover significantly better. I think that's the key to Mexico's dominance and well...their possession style.

Our guys really fought hard for this win, especially since they chased the ball the whole first half

You'd take a small fry from McDonald's over 46 gold medals in other sports if that was all Mexico got.

People can say, "meh it wasn't Mexico's first team" or "it wasn't USMNT first squad" or "it was just a friendly" or whatever but after a 75 year drought this makes the next match in Azteca that much less difficult and if nothing else we have bragging rights for a while even if "our b team beat their b team." I will take it. Great win. Yes it means something. It also means we have some depth on our squad. Great to see Brek Shea get a call up.

Yes it is nice to have the "monkey off the back". As for what it means

Maybe we will have more self-confidence playing there in the future. (not that it matters, if we NEED a win in Azteca to qualify, we are in bad shape)

Maybe it will tell Mexico what does and what does not work and where changes need to be made. Just like I posted elsewhere concerning our "Olympic" team's friendly win against Mexico, that loss did Mexico a world of good going forward. This result was going to happen eventually, but I think getting it out of the way in a friendly may help Mexico as much as it helps us. They no longer have the pressure of keeping that undefeated record.

Maybe it means that Dempsey, Donovan, and Bradley were holding us back in Mexico ;)

    Interesting article here:
    http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012/08/16/ramos-mexico-we-respect-them-we-don’t-fear-them
I think that the main thing that this match shows is that there is a growing respect between US and Mexico players. An interesting quote from this article:
I would love to see the US/MX rivalry become more friendly... where we go at it on the field, but can actually exchange shirts afterwards, and root for each other in other competitions because it improves the standing of the region.

And then Chicharito says, good thing it was a meaningless friendly instead of a real match...

The respect has always been absent, even when we were winning.

BTW, I've been to el Azteca for a WCQ match. I would give a small fortune to go to the next one.

Yo chill out with the Mexico/US hating jeez. That shiz is such a buzzkill now.

I was honestly tired of the "Beat us at Azteca then we can talk" phrase. Now I no longer have to hear it. ;)
