1-0 home defeat to Richmond after the Kickers played in Harrisburg the night before. The Rhinos need some offence fast.
I am not sure that the Cosmos will alter the Rhinos life at all. I watched the Rhinos v. Wilmington match, Earls was really bad in the first 10 min, but he settled down. A draw was fair.
I'm hoping the return of the Greek defender helps Rhinos out when we face Orlando again. That is if we meet Orlando again.
I remember that a few years ago you guys had a great rivalry with the Syracuse Salty Dogs, with the new Cosmos it could make sense to move up to Div2 But that is up to Rob Clark, he knows the real numbers We are just the fans that want ALL US soccer franchises to do well
A dream come true for a lot of fans in Rochester is for the Rhinos to be re-named the Lancers and join the NASL in order to renew the old NASL Lancers-Cosmos rivalry. Instead it seems more likely that MLS will be buying the USL and thus the Rhinos will become part of MLS-2, which is probably better in the long run for Rochester.
If the Cosmos were 90 miles away, surely. The Rhinos had a really good rivalry with Montreal, as well. And Ottawa would be closer to them than the Cosmos. You know the Lancers' name is kinda taken, right? And the fact there are rumors (which you seem intent on perpetuating, to the exclusion of discussion about absolutely anything else) doesn't mean anything "seems more likely." They might. But you keep hammering away at it and hammering away at it as if there's an agenda there.
The soccer circles here in Rochester NY are small but passionate, we all know each other and even if we have competing agendas we can't help but talk about what we're hopeful for or working towards, I know that sounds funny but it's a result of us all being passionate soccer fans, we all grew up together during the old NASL Lancers days and still see each other at current Lancers and Rhinos games. I might be affiliated with one team but I can't help but be excited for another local organization even though there are conflicts of interests. The overall gist is that we're hopeful for either the Rhinos or a newly-created outdoor Lancers team to advance in the national pro soccer scene, and when I hear local chatter I post it here with hope of some independent confirmation. Take that as you will.
though still in second place Orlando City 56 Rochester Rhinos 38 Charleston Battery 37 Richmond Kickers 35 Wilmington Hammerheads 34 Charlotte Eagles 33 Harrisburg City Islanders 33 Los Angeles Blues 29 Dayton Dutch Lions 20 Pittsburgh Riverhounds 17 Antigua Barracuda FC 13
With Richmond winning tonight, second place comes down to one game. Rhinos need to win Saturday against Pittsburg and hope Richmond loses or ties against Antigua Sunday. If Kickers win, it will come down to goal differential. Unless the Rhinos win by four goals, Richmond only needs a one goal win. A four goal win my the Rhinos forces Richmond to win by two. I hope Coach Myers goes for the big win, especially if they get up early.
Longest current streaks (DI-DIII) with no league championship: New England and Dallas 16 years (no titles in history) Chicago 14 years Atlanta and Pittsburgh 13 years (no titles in history) Kansas City 12 years Rochester 11 years San Jose and Wilmington* 9 years *Can end streak next weekend
Good catch, yes. New England, New York and Dallas 16 years (no titles in history) Chicago 14 years Atlanta and Pittsburgh 13 years (no titles in history) Kansas City 12 years Rochester 11 years San Jose and Wilmington* 9 years
(Everybody near the top of the list has at least played for a title in recent years. But the top three all have one thing in common: a history of mismanagement.)
