    Yeah, because a u23 tournament is a great predictor of that. They are a good and ever improving team, but it has nothing to do with the Olympic tournament.

    Just to give a little more perspective on that -- Argentina won gold the previous two Olympics ('04 and '08), and Cameroon the one before that. Neither team made the final four in any subsequent World Cups.

    Nevertheless, congratulations, Mexico, and here's to a strong continuing rivalry that will push both of our national teams closer to the top.:)

    My prediction is based on their Olympics performance combined with the U-somethingortheother world championship they won last year. Is this a historically reliable predictor? Probably not. But I like what I've seen from the players they've fielded. They have a swagger that I haven't seen from Mexican teams.

    They are now reigning U23 (if you figure the Olympics is the championship of that) and U17 champions, and were third in the last U20 world championship. Yeah, nothing's certain, but that's pretty good. It feels a lot like Mexico's on the rise.
