Yeah, feel roughly the same way. I think he will be better, but no where near his best when scoring for fun at Madrid and Liverpool. But no excuses anymore. No Drogba and we got players to compliment his style better.
Think it is just a case of the media playing the guessing game. It is pretty much a safe bet he is going on loan and the rags are trying to "scoop" the story. So far he has been loaned to Fulham, Everton, WBA, Stoke, Wigan, Bolton and Sunderland.

LUKAKU WEST BROM LOAN Posted on: Fri 10 Aug 2012 Romelu Lukaku has today (Friday) joined West Bromwich Albion on a season-long loan. The Belgian youngster, 19, heads to The Hawthorns to work under former Chelsea man Steve Clarke, who was appointed in his first managerial role at West Brom over the summer. Lukaku joined Chelsea last August, and made 12 appearances, his first league start coming on the final day of the season with our 2-1 win against Blackburn Rovers. In pre-season Romelu struck his first Chelsea goals against Seattle Sounders, and will now be looking to make his mark in the Barclays Premier League. Speaking to Chelsea TV about the move, the striker said: 'I'm very excited. After last season, where I was able to adjust and prepare for this season, I can't wait to start at West Brom. 'It's very important because, like Chelsea, West Brom play in the Premier League, but it will also be a good learning school for me where I need to work hard with the players around me. I've heard a lot of positives about Steve Clarke here and it will be important for me to listen and learn from him. He plays good football.'

Lukaku to WBA = New Striker Coming. Simple, elementary math. Now, who will it be? Cavani, Hulk, Schurrle............?
Hazard and Marin can both play on the right given all the rage for inverted wingers these days. And Moses would be third choice up front anyway. This is all conjecture, obviously - we haven't even bought Moses.
Hazard and Marin are better on the left so we still dont have something sure and certified on the right. If Marin is injured... we are stuck with Ramires as a winger on the right and nothing else.
That assumes Moses is also injured or that both Torres and Sturridge are unavailable. There's a limit to the squad depth we can have.
Moses seems to be the most likely forward were going to get. If so, hell play as our RW/RF and as our third CS option. If not him than someone else but all of our supposed FW target are players that can play on the right and up top ie Hulk, Shurle etc.
proving again that I am always correct must say that I am a little suprised that Lukaku has ended up at WBA and while it has been pretty well known that the plan has been to send him on loan after the US Tour I thought he would land somewhere we there was a tad less depth up front I think Shane Long is a lot tidier than adverstised and Odemwinge is a very useful player on his day. Rosenberg may be another good addition, leaving Lukaku in more or less the same place he was at the Bridge where he is behind 2 if not 3 strikers. Of course a lot of this depends on how Clarke will approach his season- being a Mourinho disciple he may go with the 433 which bodes well for Lukaku. If he sticks to his defensive roots we saw at Liverpool then it may be much more a 451 in which I dont see a lot time for him.
i had a quick butchers on a WBA forum earlier and it was mentioned quite regularly that Long might be off they were also incredibly excited at bagging young Romelu and seem to have heady expectations
If Long is off then this makes much more sense, but if not, I'd rather he'd had gone on loan elsewhere.. ah well, I'm sure the club knows better than I do!
give yourself some credit will you. You seem to have a better grip on things than some of the awful decisions this club has made. seriously though I do agree with your post- if Long goes then it is a positive for Lukaku. I really think Long is an underrated player and thought that perhaps he would be useful in the front three with Lukaku. I am also interested to see if Clarke intergrates Lukaku into the system as we saw Jose do with Drogba- quite an impressive feat at the time because most of the target type strikers such as Drogba were played with another forward in a front pair rather than using two flanking players.
I only say that because of some of the better decisions we've appeared to make this summer... there's always time for the club to change that however... Long is a good player and had a pretty decent season with WBA, and Odemwingie is very talented and obviously capable of goals on his day. I'm not all that sure about Rosenberg but he has a half decent record in Germany. I think Lukaku could certainly play the lone striker role, or play up top alongside Odemwingie depending on the system - I think their skillsets compliment each other well. Anyways, I don't think we would've sent him there unless he had a good chance of being a regular, and he'll have some competition while also hopefully getting a very good chance to impress.
Agree on Long, last season when WBA played us at the Bridge, in the first half his movement off the ball was really brilliant, gave loads of problems to Alex. He's under-rated, good thing is Clarke being a new manager gives a rather level playing field for the lot. Any strikers would, theoretically at least, have to prove themselves to him. Moses deal edging closer as per Mirror, some transfers are like downloading large files, 50% done, 60% done....80% done....
