Does anyone still read SI? That magazine has been a rag for decades now.

If the Crew holds to its No Refund or exchange policy on this they are wrong. I gave my season tickets up a year ago because my schedule has become difficult to work around games and I was eating a bunch of tickets because if I can't make one game what good is exchanging it for another ticket if I already have one and don't know anyone who wants the extra ticket? If rescheduling is an issue than drop the season ticket and go on a per game basis you can always get a ticket up to game time.

As it stands now I could have made the TFC game but I will now miss the LA game and the TFC reschedule because they are mid-week and I am booked on week nights for the next three weeks. So be it.

The guys have a right to go to the funeral but people also have the right to be pissed about being inconvenienced personally and financially.

Valid points. I probably don't give enough credence to how un-flexible USSF is.

Dude, that sucks. I absolutely encourage you to email McCullers directly. Explain your situation, the avenues you've gone down, who you spoke with from the Crew organization, and why you're upset. My expectation is that he'll do something for you.

It's nice that they are doing this for the players, however, I don't think it makes sense from a business standpoint, a competition standpoint, or a fan relation standpoint. In a way it's kind of refreshing that the Crew is allowing the players this time to grieve.

Maybe the problem is me, because when I heard they were postponing the game I couldn't understand it because it felt so foreign to what we normally see in sports.

Well, like I wrote above, soccer matches get rescheduled all the time, but because of additional matches. This is much different.

Here's how I can see it went down...

My father-in-law passed away on a Saturday night/Sunday morning and it was Thursday before the funeral given the schedules of other funerals already planned and that was in rural Ohio. Throw in the fact that Kirk's family did not know for sure when the coroner would release his body and you can end up with Saturday service when all is said and done.

So Monday afternoon or Tuesday you know that the Memorial is on Friday night and the Funeral is Saturday. Crew FO thinks, "Great, players can go to the Memorial and be back for the game on Saturday." and start talking and acting accordingly. Then I think the players step up and say, "No, we are going to be at the funeral too." I am sure some back and forth between the players, FO and even the League Office is going on Tuesday and Wednesday and the players probably took a hard stand for attending the funeral. You don't reveal these kinds of internal "discussions" because nothing has changed and you don't go spreading word about a division in the organization. So you have to keep up some appearances until it's all resolved on Thursday.

Now maybe the players took a harder line sooner or maybe none of this is correct.

Regardless of the inside game that was going on, the way the FO has decided to address the matter after it was resolved leaves a lot to be desired. But, in their typical fashion, I think they will adjust their stance and do what they should have done in the first place. Then we will all be left wondering why they just didn't do that in the first place and not shoot themselves in the foot over the matter.

I've posted way too much in this thread but I have to say one last ththing.

Maybe I'm way out of line here but I think the best way his teammates could honor Kirk Urso would be to go out on Saturday and kick the living shit out of Toronto.

Isn't that much more likely to be what HE would have liked to see happen instead of having them stand around his coffin crying?

Frankly I'll bet he would have hated the hell out of that.

And in a couple weeks, in games 4 and 5 and 6 of the six-in-seventeen-days stretch that they'll be playing because of this, when their legs feel like cement and they're geting beat to the ball over and over again and geting their asses handed to them on the scoreboard and the team falls out of any possibility of making the playoffs, well, let's not pretend it happened because the team l o ved Kirk Urso so much.

He would have hated that too.

I got an email from the FO saying there would be more details on how to exchange your tickets. They're working on it.

The good news from this is that the match where Kirk will be memorialized will be a sellout.

I would assume that ticket sales this week for the TFC match were up from other weeks. People wanted to be a part of the memorial. To make those sales and then postpone and not offer full refunds or something very close to that is bad biz.

I doubt Sept. 8th was an option as was mentioned earlier due to it being a FIFA date.

I hope the FO comes around and does the right thing. If anyone can't afford to burn bridges....

Haha, well no breaks maybe, but work had already begun on a separate tifo. We stopped plans to work on that to do the Urso ones. And, we could have put in the same hours, but maybe at a reasonable time instead of not getting home until 1 am last night. Also, I'm not the banner making machine that you are. But I guess time hanging out with friends is never truly wasted time.

And tifo is weird. When I type it on my ipad, it automatically changes it to all caps. No idea why. Maybe it just gets really excited. "hey guys, we are going to have AWESOME TIFO AT THE NEXT GAME!!!1!!!1!!"

Did I miss something? Has the FO said this game is a sell out or is this just wishful thinking? I was a little worried about the attendance since it's a weekday game

Maybe I jumped to a conclusion. With how big the crowds have been for the last few games that were tied to the LA game in one promo or another I figured it had to be close if not sold out.

I can sympathize with those who are annoyed about the rescheduling/lack of refunds. If you pay good money to see a match that is postponed/cancelled, you should be able to get your money back. Particularly away matches that require more planning.

As for the rescheduling itself - it's largely up to the players in my mind. If they feel they want to go out and play as a sign of respect for Kirk, then they should do so. If, instead, they feel they need to attend the memorial service, then they should do that. I will not criticize that decision. Making them play regardless is not going to do anything positive for player morale. It's not the players' fault that the money can't be refunded.

According to TM, there is availability in every section except for 110, 111, 112, 113, 115, 116, 119, 124, 128, and Nordecke. Most of the empty seats are, of course in the upper corners. According the map, Lower East only has 27 seats left and I don't recall seeing any together.

Rescheduling the game for a Saturday instead of a Wednesday would of course be preferable, but considering that the Crew had to get TFC's okay to postpone this game, I'm sure TFC probably had a part to play in deciding the new date for the game too. And TFC is pretty well known for wanting to avoid international dates, aren't they? I know they've complained loudly in the past about missing players for MLS games due to international commitments.

I wouldn't be surprised if the new date was pretty much TFC's choice.

As for allowing people to only have two options (the new August 22 date or the September 1 game) to exchange tickets, that does seem a little harsh, but at least one of them is a Saturday. But yeah, I'm a little surprised the Crew aren't being a bit more flexible with letting people exchange for different games instead.

I would speculate that the players didn't ask To go. They may have told the FO they were going. What does the FO do when faced with a player mutinity?
