ANTIBALAS - Antibalas (2012) This came out yesterday. They're an afrobeat band from Brooklyn that's been around for years and is finally starting to get their due critically and (hopefully) commercially. They were the band for the off Broadway production, Fela! That's probably been their biggest claim to fame so far. They're coming here in October and I can't wait to see them since they only played here once about a decade ago and I missed it.
Cannot decide if this guy is serious. But I'm kinda digging his take on the whole southern rap thing.
Yeah, I got into them a bit before Who Is This America? came out. I love afrobeat. Have tons of albums by Fela, Femi and Seun (though I've only ever seen Femi in concert.)
Just finished: Medeski Martin & Wood: Combustication (1998) Now onto: Al Green: Let's Stay Together (1972)
