30 men? Maybe you should get your eyes examined, because I counted a dozen or so captives in that video, at most 20. They're not showing the women and children for obvious reasons.
See, this is what I mean when I say you have comprehensions problems. WTF does Certificate of Honorable Discharge issued to one thousand percent of US population, have to do with Card Payan Khedmat which is issued to 50% of Iran's population and is mandatory by law to have and carry, and is used every day to get social services, get hired, travel, etc. If a traffic cop stops you in Iran, first thing they ask for, is your Card Payan Khedmat.

I'll tell you the only thing we learned about how to run Empires... don't even try, particularly now. There's no future in it, more so in the modern world. In the past you could get away with this crap because someone living in shithole 'A' wasn't in contact with the guy living in shithole 'B'. Now they are.

That's the mistake the yanks are making. They still seem to believe their guff.. sorry, 'message', about freedom and democracy spouted in Libya can't be heard in Bahrain or Saudi Arabia. Like they haven't GOT TV's, phones and stuff there when I'm pretty sure they have.
And it will fail for the same reason ours did. Well, it will fail before it even starts, obviously, but even if it DID get going it will fail.

It'll fail because it's based on looking down on people, on thinking YOU know best what they need, on thinking your values are better than theirs. It's best to let people come to their own conclusions about stuff.

Like our friend Mani on here.. when people start to believe their own propaganda, you KNOW they're up shit creek without a paddle.

Can't they include a condition to their promise? Like: I will visit [specified shrine]; provided that if there is a war in the vicinity of the shrine, I will delay the pilgrimage until the war has ended (or at least subsided).

Increasingly in the U.S. freedom means capitalism and free markets.

There are at least 35 men in this image. The view of more are blocked by the narrator. Watch the video. There are at least 40 men present. Beside the 2 in front & 4 in back, can you say how many of the remaining 30+ are captives? There are about 25 men grouped in the middle, and another 12 to 15 equally glum men sitting around the lower group.
Muslim sensitivity to photos of women?
1,000% of the US population have not served in its armed forces.

I think you're seeing things, because there is no way in hell that there are 40 people in that picture.

And again what is your point exactly about the Military Service Completion ID cards in Iran? What are you rambling about exactly? What part of what I've said, have you actually refuted?

I hadn't realized, that you were unable to count past twenty.
Despite alleged universal mandatory service, there appear to be a lot of exemptions. Have you lived in Iran? Which one did you use?

Oh I can count past 20, you just don't seem to have a 20/20 vision. That's the problem.
You're saying exemptions yourself. Look that word up, will you? And what is "alleged" about mandatory universal military service in Iran which is fact. Just ask any Iranian. I still fail to see what exactly your point is here. Even if you're exempt from Military Service, which happens very rarely, you're still issued a Card Payan Khedmat, or else you can't get a job, you can't get a passport, you can't get your government subsidies, you can't get on a bus/train to travel to another city.....so I'm puzzled as to why you are arguing with me about something so elementary that every Iranian knows.

    Then, do it!
Or, try to add: 4 guards are standing in the back, and a narrator in front. In the video, a second man in uniform in front.
3 captives are sitting on the left, plus 4 just below them, plus 5, plus 4 in the back with white shirts, plus 4, plus 5, plus 3, then 3 more to the right of the narrator.
    3 + 4 + 5 + 4 +4 + 5 +3 +3 = 31, except in your universe.
In the video, the narrator moves & you can see, and presumably count, more captives behind him. Also, some more heads appear in the center of the group. At least 40, althogether.

What is your point? That these are military personnel? Here is what a Syrian opposition group has said about the abductions:

Iran must make sure all the terrorists that are shown in the video that was released by them are (1) identified; and (2) brought to justice.

Very likely. I am also intriqued by the comments and stance from iran and syria when it comes to the support and supplying of anti-assad fighters in syria, to include any foreign fighters that may be there. As I recall during the Iraq insurgency, arms, supplies, funding and fighters flowed from iran and syria into iraq. Now that the shoe is on the other foot the loud complaints are enough to shatter an eardrum.....Hypocrisy? You tell me.

Yes, that and documents taken from osama's last residence. I didn't see what source Sky news used in the quote I gave either.

Don't be as dense as Mani.
    Re-read posts #94, #111, #121 & #144.
I was sympathetic to the captives, and stated that if the man in the video was not military, that I hoped he would be able to convince the captors of this. I also noted the number of male captives, as confirmed by Tom Wilhelm's link.

Nowhere near the 40 that JBigjake was falsely claiming as a fact. Also #25 is not a person, it's the hand of #28. There are few more questionable markers like that.

P.s. you have too much time on your hand. I guess the fact that I totally proved you wrong on the Olympic Medals issue, has gotten under your skin.
