FFS, the guy shows up and they put him in that clown outfit. Still, this is the type of signing we need to make, an established player with something to prove. I just hope he can adjust to London and the Premier League. All in all, a good window for us, but i'm still hoping for one or two more.

Good question. 9 and 11 should be open soon, if they aren't already. Hopefully 10 is still taken.

He spoke to Cesc ( and to Pires as well) about moving to AFC and both highly recommended the move.

PS. Anti, I have a spare "clown" jersey, can send it to you if you want! :)

Interesting piece in the Guardian today about Song.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/aug/07/alex-song-arsene-wenger-arsenal

"Alex Song has caused irritation at Arsenal with his desire to explore his transfer market options in the face of interest from a clutch of leading clubs, including Barcelona."
"The friction has built to the point where Wenger has questioned Song's worth to the team and even wondered whether he may sell him if a large offer were to come in. Arsenal have not yet received any official bids."

Funny, the same can be said about you. Nice try though.

This guy gets what I was saying.

And I would still say it doesn't matter. Is it nice if a high profile signing joins Arsenal? Yes, but the price tag doesn't mean jack shit. Trying judging a transfer after a full season before saying if the signing is one of the best. On paper it looks nice, but if that is the case, wouldn't someone else have won the Champions League last season?

Well sorry for basing this on players profiles before joining Arsenal. Yes, if this was based on the player having at least 1 year at Arsenal then I would have said differently.

Well I for one am happy about this signing. IMO, whenever Arteta got hurt last year our entire team sputtered. Not because Arteta is such an amazing player but because we simply had no one else who could fill that link up role. From the sound of it, Carzola is well suited for this role.

Welcome to the club, Santi, and hopefully you will help bring us silverware this season.

Yep. People got confused because Vela was 11 before Santos came in. 9 may be open. I actually think Park will go on loan and come back. I like his look in the Olympics.

i have no idea who starts upfront for us now. things used to be pretty clear-cut.
Arsene has some really different options now to choose from.. quality depth at the 3 forward positions.
    definitely going to see rotation.

Signs of a good offseason: Rewinder is positive!

Agree, though, and with anti, that signing seasoned pros is a change from the recent Arsenal M.O. and I like this direction.

It also appears that we can change our shape to suit different situations more readily. When the team is mostly healthy they can play anything from a 4-4-2 to Spain's 4-6-0.

So that's it then? No more sweating over players? Come on guys! No break! It's time to sweat it out over another player. I need another reason to hit the F5 button over and over again.

Now I see why Arsenal waited so long to announce Santi, they had to get enough information to fill their entire website first.
