Welcome VSR Managers to the VSR Pre-, During-, and Post-Draft Banter Thread. While we await the Aug 6 draft start, let's weigh in on whether we want to use blech's or Dr. Heckle's google docs spreadsheet. Blech will be preparing his for the Small Rocks draft that also starts on Aug 6, so he said it would be easy to make a copy for us. As one who used his spreadsheet last year, I found it very helpful to keep up not only with the draft and which players have been chosen, but also throughout the season with the latest squads and the recent transfers that are made each GW in the Fantasy.Premierleague.com VSR Forum. Dr. Heckle's spreadsheet just sounds like a player list and draft spreadsheet that doesn't have the extra bells and whistles of the extra worksheets that blech puts together. It would work for the draft also. What say you, the other VSR Managers?
I love blechs' GoogleDoc...just last season one manager refused to use it so it made it much less helpful. For me it's a huge timesaver. I am very much in favor.
I didn't notice when Fraser gets back from the cruise. Is it before the season starts? Will he have time to load up his team for GW1? Or did he give you the info to do it for him? Will you be in contact with Fraser after we complete the draft so you can get his instructions for the Post-Draft, Pre-Season free-for-all, first-come, first-served Squad adjustments? The next time he reaches out to you, you might ask for some instructions or suggest he get to an internet cafe on the ship and check back around the 13th as our draft will probably be done by then and we might be in that 24 hour waiting time between the draft and the post draft squad adjustment period. As far as Google Docs goes, I'll send a link to your excite email once we get the spreadsheet from Blech. Blech, perhaps you'd like to send an advance copy now to all the members of VSR or to me to forward, so the managers can fiddle with the spreadsheet and see how to use it. I can also share a copy of the VSR google docs spreadsheet from last season.
I've already sent it. As I posted in one of the various VSR threads, the Roster List will need an update at the freeze as there have already been some additions, but it's otherwise ready to go. I used what I thought were the correct email addresses from last year, and sent an additional one to Tarv this morning. If you used alternate email accounts last year, you might check any that you don't currently use to see if it's there. But, otherwise, start a conversation with me that provides the email address that you want to use and I'll get you added. Even though you're not starting until Monday morning, it would be great if everyone would confirm that their access works in the next couple of days so that you're not scrambling with reaching me then.
Eddie and are are united with the Van Persie compulsive 3rd pick. I hope Lampard has not written Robin's dietary schedule...
I'm still learning the Tapatalk BigSoccer app, can someone tell me who FC Springfield is? I can't seem to find it on the forum. He's up in the draft.
It killed me to select him. It's been quite awhile since I've had a Le Arse player. Of course he'll probably transfer abroad now or do his hammy again.
Pick made, sent PM to Thiku - will be around all day with the exception of a probably 2 hour dinner with my in-laws at 7pm EST
Heading out for awhile now to go to the zoo...my mom and wife don't understand my son is 8 months old and is just as happy as me making an elephant noise as an actual elephant. Should have internet on phone, don't know if I'll be actively looking hpbut it should be awhile until my next pick. Should be back around 3pm because I agreed to go to the zoo as long as I didn't miss the USA women's match.
The first few picks were as expected. Spent 10 minutes waking up, getting some coffee and reconsidering my strategy. Went with the plan I've had for about a week now - which was actually my second plan. The first one I started with and discarded about a week ago. Trying something a bit different for VSR this year - could go very well, average, or horribly!! haha. Fascinated to see the first few rounds b/c they will determine my strategy - that's not a life-changing realization, but there are certain players I need based on their value.....the draft is my favourite part of the league ps-I ain't calling Hal long distance I sent him a text and email.
Cisse and Ba of Newcastle selected back-to-back. That'll be a story to watch this year. Ba really struggled for goals when Cisse arrived as they moved him out wide left. Can Cisse keep up anywhere close to the pace he set last season? Will he be purchased in January if he does so? ... I'll be watching that race closely. Newcastle certainly have the MF to set those guys up for goals.
So are we using the google docs spreadsheet? My vote would be yes. I'm fairly new here but it was really convenient when I wanted to look at making transfers. If we don't use it, is the alternative to go through each team's lineup one by one to see if they have the player, followed by going through the official transfers forum for the current week? Looking forward to a fun draft!
I've downloaded Blech's spreadsheet from home, but I may not be able to access google docs from work. I actually merged Blech's spreadsheet with mine to include all my preferences and tracking of all four drafts. I wouldn't want to try to upload that back, at least not until the draft is over.
My issue is that google docs is often blocked at work - and experience tells me I'll be making many picks while at work!
Quick meeting. Back and available. Has anyone been in contact with Dear_Claudio? Has he expressed any prolonged unavailability for the draft?
I think I've joined the texting world! What really makes the drafts less stressful is when all the managers keep the information on their availability current. Try to remember to post on here if you will be unavailable for a while, and with and estimate of return, or info on any proxy picker while you're gone.
