I'd imagine he is more expensive than the other players on the team, and he's one of the few players they could get a transfer fee for. I'd be stunned it he plays there next season.

Well it would have been nice if he could have stayed in Belgium even if with a lesser team than Gent, but if he's heading back to Norway, Rosenborg is about as good as it gets. What's their midfield situation look like?
I've caught a little bit of a couple of Rosenborg matches this season since their top player recently has been a Czech right-midfielder. Their midfield overall seemed okay, their biggest weakness seemed to be at striker, but haven't really seen them enough to make firm comments on their roster. There is a fairly long thread on Mix already on a Rosenborg fan forum if anyone wants to read through with google translate (or if anyone reads Norwegian here).
Biggest team, no doubt. But when was the last time it won the league? I think 07 was the last time they were in the CL. if I were Mixx, I'd leave for any league- Greece, Turkey, Belgium, Switzerland.
They won the league in 09 and 10. In 2010 they actually won the league with no losses and only had one loss the year before. Finished 3rd last year.
they don't look especially happy with this. Having said that, it looks like the average BS thread where maybe 10% of the posters have actually seen him play. I still think Mix has a ton of talent (and not just talented hair) and hope that he does great wherever he goes. His accessibility on this forum is refreshing for a pro athlete. It's hard not to root for a great player and, more importantly, a stand up guy. "Form is temporary, class is permanent" applies way beyond soccer with Mix.
I'd like to see Mix venture out of Norway but you go where interest is. I will say that I've had a little crush on Rosenborg since their deep runs in the Champions League is the late 90's and early 2000's. They played such a fluid game and adapted their style to their opponent. Very disciplined and quite reminiscent of a Bundesliga club at the time. RBK have not been quite as dominant lately but they continue to be at or near top of the league every season. They continue to battle for titles. Quite frankly, I'd love to see Mix there if he stays in Norway. Robbie Russell's tenure at RBK was cut short due to injury and it would be fun seeing a Yank there again.
I asked Greg at noshortcorners.com, and at least one of the four suitors is outside of Norway. Let's hope they are the team that wins the battle for his services.
It sounds like Rosenborg is definitely where he is trying to go. He was in the stands for their match last weekend.

I'd like to see him in Italy but I'm bias. Seems like the right pace league for him and somewhere he can develop his technical ability. .... Or the Dutch league.
I agree. He'd be in the right league to develop his vision and passing, and better on his tactical side of his game.
My first thought was that a short term deal was not ideal and rather risky. But the more I think about it, the more I see the logic. Mix, obviously, has aspirations to play in a stronger league on the main continent of Europe. His Gent loan was a mixed bag for a myriad of reasons and it didn't yield results that some would have hoped. This short-term deal puts him back in the "shop window". Impressing could draw interest. Potentially Mix would be a "low risk - high reward" option for a club simply because would be a free transfer. A short term deal gives him and future suitors more flexibility. I like it. Of course, it could all blow up and go to hell in a handbasket but I have a sneaky feeling it won't. Mix is smart and calculating so I trust his judgement. I think he lived and learned with Gent. RBK is a good option. They are reputable and have no problem being that club that elevates players to bigger and better things. Whether this turns into 6 months or 2 years playing for RBK, with the pressures they face, is nothing but a positive. I've been waiting for a Yank to return to RBK as I've had a little crush on the club for years.
