So does anyone want to defend this "project" of almeyda?

I feel like crying, our team is shit and our DT is a ********ing joke... We will never live this down

    Funes Mori is useless.

Im a bit confused about the goalkeeper being sent off, he got a yellow card for giving away the penal, and then got a straight red card for coming of his line? or did i miss something?

Funes mori? Wait- didn't our tecnico say he was the only play intransferrable? Didn't he get rid of Chori and cave so he would play?

Either way, I don't blame funes mori. I blame almeyda for the team he put out. If barovero is in goal, belgrano never takes the lead, if Vella doesn't play it probably ends better... Very similar to the way we played in the b but against better teams and less individual talent on our team

This isn't going to get any easier

He should've paid more attention to his uncle on how to do penalties...

In reality he got sent off because he looked like he was riling up River players with an excessive celebration for the penalty, kind of stupid but eh, that's what the referee "saw".

River played some nice stuff at times but was poor in front of the goal...I really don't like the Funes Mori-Trez partnership.

And of course Almeyda's mancrush on Vega is infuriating. Typical River.

Vega over Barovero is ridiculous, and Vella needs to go.

Also, I had imagined Villalva would begin getting more playing time now that Cavenaghi and Chori left... but it seems nothing has changed.

Positives? Not too many, but Lanzini was interesting and Mercado added something new offensively.

The only player who can hold his hide hi after that is Lanzini. The rest complete shit. Almeyda a joke of a DT

It doesn't make you feel good when a half-ass team gets two good chances to scores and wins. I actually liked the way we played. A huge improvement over last year which I thought we couldn't connect two passes together to save our lives. Trezeguet looked dead today, Funes Mori choked hard (but this team always makes me feel nervous with PKs), Cirigliano, of all people, cost us the game with that bad pass that resulted in the second goal, Vella goes without saying, Mercado was OK, Lansini was incredible, he almost had two goals in free kick. We finally have our Free Kick specialist.

Did anyone else know why the GK got sent off? I assumed that first yellow was for pretending he had a concussion but don't know about the second. A concussed player should've been happy being in the sugarplum land with the lollipop dragon but this guy unusually snapped out of it.

What disappointed me the most how they just didn't aggressively attacked the improvised GK. That guy was was the most nervous player on the pitch and we should've easily tied the game. Oh well, this is only the first game I hope Vella doesn't ever were the jersey ever again and Barovero gets a shot next week.

He apparently made gestures/insults at the assistant ref after Funes Mori missed his penalty, supposedly as a mock for calling what he didn't consider a penalty (I didn't think it was a foul either, for the record).

Well that partnership is why we play in primera again, ironically...
As for the rest... Pleasantly surprised by Lanzini because in the current context, i would have expect him to be somehow subpart or not very helped by Almeyda's tactics but he did well.

All this ********ing doom and gloom when we played better than Belgrano and deserved to win -- we hit the post 3 times and had a good goal ruled offside (check the replay: Funes Mori was onside) in the last minute, not to mention that the ref only added 6 minutes when it should easily have been 10 (Olave was on the ground for a good 5 minutes, and the Belgrano players took another 5 minutes complaining about his sending off). They had two chances and both went in.

We played some nice football at times, how about you give the team some time to gel after 5 new signings before saying it's shit? And the best part is that *hopefully* Ramiro will be playing at LB instead of Vella from now on (who was directly responsible for the first goal).

It's amazing how people continue defending this clown... Vega gave us the ascenso????? And what about Chori and cave? He certainly respected them....

The people who defend dap and almeyda... Aren't you tired of belgrano celebrating on our field?

Megamac says we played better and deserved to win... We barely created anything out of open play. Fm9 had one shot against the cross bar, other than that nothing. Our best player got 0 service.

And we didn't deserve to win. Every time belgrano attacked it was threatnign. They were well organized and took advantage of our defensive frailties. Maidana is not playing well, Vella is a joke, and don't tell me fm6 is going to be a savior at lb. we need to stop inventing positions for people, the dude is a cb and should be played there or in a line of 3

Our DT played a muerto in goal, a muerto at lb, and various others out of position... Keko needed to come on for Ocampos.

I don't see anything to be positive about with this team tbh (again I hopemim wrong but I don't see how anyone can be pleased with what they saw from the team on the field or the clown sitting on the bench)

I don't know how any river fan can read that and not get their blood boiling...

I think la saeta rubia and megamac think I'm involved in the politics in the club... I have absolutely nothing to do with it. I just think Passarella and Almeyda are doing a very shitty job and I can't understand how you all defend them constantly. I live and die with the team, I used to love Passarella and Almeyda both but over time they have both proven to be completely incompetent. I would love to be banging the drum about river right now but I just can't

Wen the games kick off I want us to win, but the reality is with this DT and plantel I don't see us having a good tournament. I would LOVE to be wrong and I will admit it if I am, but when you keep defending funes mori and almeyda but they keep making the same bullshit mistakes. If Vella isn't a 3, don't ********ing put him there. He's bad enough at his own position. Put a line of 3 or give Martinez a shot, he played very well in the one copa arg game

Meh, why did they bother bringing Barovero then? Also having Vella playing on the opposite wing, when that position could've been the place of Orban(who, according AFA's standings, was the player with the most interceptions in the Clausura).

I'm not talking shit, nor am I criticizing our team or club, but rather two individuals I blame for that debut and for building a team i deem under par for our club. River is bigger than names and when people like Passarella and Almeyda, 2 LEGENDS as players, make capricious decisions that defy logic I'm going to criticize them because the club is bigger and more important than they are...

Let's assume for a moment you're not talking shit. Who would you want as president instead of Passarella? D'Onofrio? 4 more years of Aguilar?

And expressing confidence in a goalie is not a capricious decision, it's absolutely necessary. Or do you think Barovero would be able to play calmly if he has to worry constantly that the next error could cost him the starting spot just as easily (or more easily even) than Vega, a player who's been at the club 5 years?

As for Chori and Cavenaghi: Chori would have been difficult to retain, not to mention expensive, while Cavenaghi scored 4 goals in the last 20 matches and looked sluggish and poor. You can disagree, but don't pretend as if there's no reason at all for them to leave (although the way in which they were forced out was disrespectful and wrong).

I agree 100%.Passarella and Almeyda have made big mistakes but what do you expect from the tecnico he needs time. What we need now is patience and lots of it.Its actually easier for River to play away right now.Its hardly like we have been supersuccesful recently.Lets face facts we have one primera title in eigth years and before the Kaiser took over there was only one direction the finances of the club were going.Every promising kid was sold at 17.Right now we moan because we refuse 10 million for Funes Mori. These outbursts of lunacy by thousand in the stadium and on forums are not only not helping River they are killing us.All Riverplatenses need to have patience with the players and tecnico.Do you think we love the way we are playing? But lets face reality Almeyda must manage an entire squad of 34 players and try and keep them happy. The players must know he has some loyalty to them.I want Barovero playing but Vega is a human being who deserves respect for his work at the club the same with Vella. These players are humans who need to be respected too this is what management is about

So Vella and Vega, two muertos who never won anything, deserve respect but cave and chori don't? You were going on in another forum about how neither had found a club and this justified the decision to jettison them... Do you believe VEGA would have a club if river released him????? Hell even estudiantes tecos from the ascenso in Mexico didn't want him, yet the biggest club in Argentina plays him out of respect????

We have a promedio of 0 and we have very little squad depth. No recambio up front other than Keko and Vila who the DT doesn't have the time of day for. We can only bring in 2 reinforcements in january so this is our team from here to next June +\- a few. We are going to be fighting the promedio all season and you ask for patience...

If we descend again, not even our history will save us
