Might as well we're only 13 more posts away from thread VII. We have more staying power than Rocky!!!!!!
There is no way that the New England Revolution could sell for 100 million dollars right now. A owner would likely need to own his own stadium or end up paying more to lease Gillette.
Because I enjoy going to the sport live? Because I support the team on the field? If they stop progressing maybe I will complain. I really don't care that Kraft owns the team because... he is going to own the team for a very long time. It is not the first time our money is being wasted...
stop progressing? hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahhahahahahahahaha
It's called relocation. MLS expansion franchises are now rumored to be valued at close to $100m. Once MLS hits 20 teams and slows down expansion, prospective owners will be forced to look at current teams to buy if they want to own a team. That means purchasing a team like the Revs and moving them to the city of their choice.
What do you know about soccer or this league my friend? Lets see it seems like the team is already better then last year. They sold an aging veteran who is awful and cleared cap space. Bought a DP who is solid and young. Made a bunch of value moves and really only need to improve defensively. Sounds like the TEAM is progressing.
Oh, you know, not much at all. I'm more of a basketball guy. Soccer is dumb. Better in what way? They look pretty much the same to me. And you call that progress? Wow. Who has played exactly 1 game in MLS And I'm the one being questioned about my knowledge of the game. Well, I'm glad you aren't a coach. Or, at least I'm hoping not...This team needs a lot more help than just the defensive end. Actually, it seems like a team that wants to progress, but hasn't really done much to actually progress. Other than some new faces, things look pretty much exactly the same.
How is trading Shalrie Joesph for a player, money, and a draft pick not progress. Look at statistics compared to last year... Look at the midfield. Pretty sure Jerry is a very solid player who has featured for his national squad prominently. So yes this is progress unless you expect the team to automatically make the playoffs after a few awful seasons.
Because the player they got had a nervous breakdown, they haven't used the pick yet, nor have they spent the money. That is potentially an avenue towards progression, but right now none of that is making them any better. You mean the stats that almost identically the same? They are marginally, at best, better than last year. Ok? Other than Nguyen, where is the real upgrade? OK Nostradomis, when does the world end? No, it's not progress until they actually....progress. They are still one of the worst teams in the league. They still can't score goals. They still don't have depth. They still have glaring holes up and down the lineup. They are younger and they have 2 or 3 players that are promising. That isn't progress.
Devil's advocate, Simms over Joseph was an upgrade until a couple weeks ago, and probably will be again. And Sene, despite his increasingly-obvious flaws, is a clear upgrade from the glue factory we fielded last year.
