I am looking forward to this game. This is the first real match of top level clubs in the U.S. as opposed to all those friendlies. The clubs, Montpelier and Lyon are not super clubs like Barcelona, but this is top notch competition and I hope the public is not only aware but also will make for a good crowd.

How many others are going and taking advantage of the discount for these tickets for Red Bulls season ticket holders?

It is good to see real competition on these shores--but unfortunately i get the feeling that this game will not get as much publicity as some of the other games on the friendly tours. Many people see Ligue 1 as being a Tier 2 Euro league--whether that perception is justified or not is a different discussion, but it means that people if given the choice would rather flock to see EPL, Serie A, La Liga, or Bundesliga teams play a meaningless friendly. I would not be surprised to see empty seats at this game-- for the sake of soccer integrity I sincerely hope that I am wrong.

I have no interest in this game.

We've had these so called competitive games in the area in the not to distant past. I remember AC Milan and Juventus played the Italian Super Cup in Giants Stadium in 2004(?). That game I did go to and it sucked.

These clubs are not that popular around the world and I doubt there are very many fans of these teams in the US. I would be shocked if this game was sold out.

I hope this game will be good. I agree on the general popularity of these teams and I don't think it will be a sell out, but I hope there is a decent crowd and these are two pretty good clubs playing a meaningful game (not just for show) and for a very reasonable ticket price. I just think this game at least has something at stake. I just think a friendly is much less of a competitive match given all at the subs that can be used and relying on the contract for the game for players to play at least a half.

Yeah it may mean something but it really has no star power which is what really attracts the masses.

Well whatever the crowd, I am looking forward to seeing a top quality game for just $25 per ticket. I think this is going to be a good game partly these are two good teams and also because the French league is trying to get the U.S. public more aware of their league.

While I paid more than this for my tickets and these are probably upper level corner/endline seats, I am glad they are making a big effort to get a good crowd for what I believe will be a good game to watch.

Living Social claim these are lower level tickets. I would be stunned if they are not endline seats. Did anyone try the deal out

Why would anyone want to see a pre-season friendly?

This is not a pre-season friendly which is what makes this game unique. While the French league which is a notch below the other major leagues, it is a game for one of the 4 potential trophies that can be one during the season. This is not a friendly and will have normal substitution rules.

This might be the first non-friendly match of European clubs (the top team in France last year plus the winner of some other trophy-Lyon) to be played in the U.S.

This IS pretty much a friendly, TdC is a worthless cup that also doesn't hold too much prestige.

Have you even watched any past games? I haven't. It is a match of some significance which can't be said of a friendly. We'll see which I mean you won't. Did you see the match between PSG and Chelsea? Not much of a match. I am looking forward to seeing this game and see how good it is.

I got 4 free lower level tickets so I guess I'll go. No dog in the race though.

The fff just recently started to really push this out of france, so it doesn't have the "wow"factor, nor does it really have much prestige. a game of who cares the least, trust me.

You completely miss my point. I am not going to this game because of any wow factor or so called prestige category or whatever you call it. I am going to it because I expect a high quality match with two good teams (2 of the top teams in a very good league, much better than MLS) compete (yes, compete) for a win and not just for show. The fact that you are not going, I couldn't care less about. I just think that if you are looking to find good soccer and for very inexpensive seats, it is a much better bet than the vast majority of the friendlies that have been scheduled here.

Regardless of the outcome and if I am disappointed, I will cite my experience tomorrow. This a far better time than just hanging around doing nothing and with a lot of money left in my wallet.

I agree. I really don't care for either team or the French league, but I am going to see a good game and some really good players. I went to Roma/El Salvador tonight. Don't like Roma, but do like a few of their players, Totti and De Rossi (not with them). Hope the French fans can act better then the El Salvadorians, what a disgrace.

For your info, I'm from montreal. The tdc already came and went.

You're talking about competing, I'm telling you to look elsewhere.

But it's ok, we quite evidently have different views, which is ok.

Yesterday's game was probably the best game I had seen here. The quality and the style of the game were excellent and both teams played there hearts out. There was also one red card and several yellows. A bicycle kick near the end by Jimmy Briand of Lyon hit the post and left the game tied at 2-2 after which it went to penalty kicks and Lyon won. Great game.
