From No Short Corners: Gent's deadline to make a decision on their buy option on Mix was pushed back from June 1st to August 1st. He is currently training with Stabæk.
Before people go crazy: "- Is it appropriate to sign Diskerud? - It has not been mentioned with a word. It is not therefore he is here, and basically there was only this session he will be with, says Flo." He's in the area and, as the Google translated so eloquently puts, it: "Mix on a fishing holiday in Jølster, and wanted to get a session to keep the wheels of time.It is nice for us to have him, since he is a good player, says Flo to Sogn Avis." http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=no&u=http://www.sognavis.no/lokal_sport/sogndal_fotball/&prev=/search?q=%22mix+diskerud%22&hl=en&safe=off&client=safari&sa=X&tbo=1&rls=en&biw=1137&bih=686&tbs=qdr:d&prmd=imvns&sa=X&ei=e8IMUI2AEqb00gG-4aCCBA&ved=0CFsQ7gEwAQ
I think this year will be a bit of a litmus test for Diskerud. He came into Gent last year and basically immediately left for Nashville. He never had a chance to settle. Hopefully during preseason he gets settled and keeps progressing.
Are you sure that is posted there? I looked and couldn't find that rumor. I also only ask because I believe KAA Gent technically don't own Mix's contract as he was technically on loan there from Stabaek. Thus they can't loan him out. Unless they bought his contract while I wasn't looking?
It's there. Go back in the timeline to July 16th or so (myself, I just typed "diskerud" into Twitter's search and found it that way) Yes, there are some steps missing for this to work; such is life with a 140-character limit. And a iffy-at-best Twitter account (hence "silly season").
Found it. Very interesting stuff. I wonder why there hasn't been a decision from Gent yet. Maybe Mr. Seltzer can provide us some clues.
What's weird is that Gent still has his rights for the rest of this month, yet Mix is not with the team. Apparently training in Norway. I have no idea what's going on there.
That sounds as if Gent doesn't want to take the chance of him getting hurt in practice due to liability or something. I'd think they've seen enough and will decide one way or another soon enough. Seeing as they're going through pre-season, though, is it safe to assume he won't be back at Gent?
That's what I'm guessing. Norwegian reports also make it sound like he's gone once he goes back to Stabaek.
Here is an article today where they discuss with Mix the possibility of match fixing in Norway. He is, of course, interviewed as a Stabek player . . .
I'm not that worried. These situation happen as a pro, I guess. It's not like he won't be playing anywhere ever again. In the worst case scenario he will be in Norway again.
It's a shame that things did not work out for him at Gent. The timing was unfortunate. The Olympic (not qualifying) mess still boggles my mind. I would have enjoyed watching Mix and the others playing and making names for themselves in Europe. Stabek is a bad team in a bad situation. If they avoid relegation, it will be a miracle. Best to train with a team in preseason. Everyone gets to know each other on and off the field. Best wishes to you, Mix . . .
This is great news... Mix dodged a bullet. Gent wasn't the jump he needed to make, and there is no way that Staebek will be able to afford him. Exciting times for him and one to keep a close eye on as well. He'll be with a new team soon enough.
I think what he means is that Stabaek's finances are in the toilet and they will have to find some way to unload Mix. They can't afford to pay him
