The most likely candidate unfortunately. Schweini called one of their main journalists an asshole while Bild seems to have a nice soft spot for our captain, who has 0 leadership qualities.

Robben not the type of player to make sacrifices, says Van der Wiel

"If you give Arjen the ball and he has two opponents in front of him, he'll still try and get past them," the Ajax defender stated to NUsport. "He's not the type of player to sacrifice himself for the wing-back and cut inside to create space for me, or tracks back to help me out when I'm dealing with two opponents.

"I was the one sacrificing myself for Arjen, and that's not something I'm used to. I prefer to do things together, both defending and attacking. It was a bit frustrating how things went."

Captain Obvious meet Van der Viel

Robben: "It used to be so much fun playing for the NT. Getting such good service, you know. Gregory, MvB, van Persie, etc ... you know, such good players ..."

    Everybody: ????

Robben: "Now, it's no fun. I hope it'll be fun again at Bayern. I think it's time to have fun with Ribbery again. You know, like making fun of his scar and ugly underage girlfriend ..."

    Everybody: ?!?!?

Robben: "Such a fun guy, so easy to make fun of him. And he punches like a girl" :D

Meanwhile at the Robben residence ...

Van Der Wiel complaining, is that supposed to mean something? A horribly overrated RWB whose defending is as bad as Rafinha's. I remember a few people wanted him about 1-2 years ago here. :D

Frankly I WISH Robben would be more selfish. He tried to be more of a team player and it didn't work last season. Bring me back the selfish Robben that goes past players and scores great/important goals. We have 10 other players that pass the ball enough, especially with our system.

Anyone want to decipher this? There's some depth and options here. On paper this looks pretty good.

It all really depends on how they work together. Lack of chemistry and predictability have done us in in the past 2 years. Dortmund has one big advantage. They have a well oiled machine that has played together for years. hey have compensated the loss of big-time players the last 2 years too. Sahin/Kagawa in 2011 and Goetze in 2012. Hence I think they'll be honestly fine without Kagawa.

It was as much Robben's pace and newness as his selfishness early on that made him successful for us. Defenses are more wise to him and his pace is getting harder to come by with age and injury. Don't think more selfishness will make up the difference for him. Either he learns to be a team player or he declines.
