Bubbles certainly can be dangerous for some clubs, but not every club get hit with the same magnitude and effect. For instance do some of you really believe that the Man City sheick with its like what 50 Bio can be hit easily? Don't think so, some of them won't put all their eggs into one basket (diversifiying their investments) and some might even have other independent income streams (oil money, or others)

Lets compare the Olympic Soccer tournament with the World Baseball Classic ... Both are during pre-season and both mean little to certain players ... You won't get the best performances out of most players

Exactly. It's being made as if Martinez joining guarantees the CL trophy. He's a defensive player, and the price itself is pretty insane. Bayern should at max go to 30m euros and cut the limit there. Personally I think 25m but desperate times calls for desperate measures.

Many of their players are also 4 years older. Puyol and Xavi are certainly on or towards the tail-end of their career/peak. Messi could get hurt just the way Villa did and that hurt them a lot.

Nowitzki also played at the olympics, different sport though, but illustrates that players like to play there because Olympics have for some - not all sport - a different meaning than being there for winning. Nowitzki wanted to be there to experience that unique event. If the value of the olympic soccer tournament is so great why doesn't send Germany (you can pick other countries almost randomly) their best squad? Also you guys fail to understand that all professional soccer don't plan their season for the olympics, don't send their best players, etc because there is nothing in there for them to gain except some dubious "fame" that can't be even monetized in most sports.

No, but Man City and Chelsea's spending could easily doom a lot of other less financially sound EPL sides -- break any team with less resources that tries to catch up knowing that they are too big to fail. The question is not whether they can be hit, but rather whether the league and the other teams will still be standing and worth as much after the bubble pops. They will still be on top, but the whole will be diminished.

Many ppl including me have not seen Martinez a lot before today, When i watched the few Bilbao games, i was always looking out for Munain and Lloriente, Probably that was why I missed out on his qualities. Todays game was not a good advert.

And lets not get carried away with the hype of the market. There are countless examples in the market of money splashed on wrong players and they failed. Bayern has been burnt from the Breno experiment though for 11m but still...

Give an example of countrys that dont send their best U23 players to the Olympics.
Brazil sent their best squads available almost every time same for Argentina.

brazil 1996 team to the Olympics was basically the same team that went to the WC finals 2yrs later Minus Cafu and Taffarel for Dida

Argentina squad to the Last Olympics, Who do you think was left behind thats within the age limit?

    Oscar Ustari
    Ezequiel Garay
    Luciano Fabián Monzón
    Pablo Zabaleta
    Fernando Gago
    Federico Fazio
    José Ernesto Sosa
    Éver Banega
    Ezequiel Lavezzi
    Juan Román Riquelme
    Ángel Di María
    Nicolás Pareja
    Lautaro Acosta
    Javier Mascherano
    Lionel Messi
    Sergio Agüero
    Diego Buonanotte
    Sergio Romero
    Nicolás Navarro

Since 1992 male competitors must be under 23 years old, with three over-23 players allowed per squad.

Now i'm not saying that if this wasn't the rule that all teams were going to call up their best squad but you can bet that more players would have want to participate. The greatest obstacle is the time ofcourse right before the seasons start

You don't think Germany would qualify for the tournament if they were to spend their best U23. But they don't care and don't send, same goes for France if I remember correct. Portugal? Dutch also don't bother that much though they might have had a squad there in 08 but my memory and I'm too lazy to google. FIFA may be a corrupt bunch but even they don't count these games there as official A-NT matches

Actually Germany didnt qualify for the Euro U21 that was the basis for Olympic qualification because our team got smashed 4-1 by Iceland in qualifying, Germany presented their best players in the age category.
Our team lost in qualifiers to iceland despite fielding Hummels, Howedes, Boateng, Badstuber, Scheiber, Schurlle, Muller, Grooskreutz.

Anyone else think we won't have anymore signings this summer?

I have a feeling this is our whole team this year..

We were trying to enter the U21-EM, not the olympics. You can be sure that non of those players would have been on the olympic squad.

I would say that what we got this summer is enough. Maybe the issue is that we received our X-mas gifts beforehand and thus the gifts during the summer period look less enticing. Not sexy does not mean useful and adequate ;)

I am very happy with our transfer period. Addressed needs and added depth. Two of the issues we had over the past few years. Martinez or CM not named Bender would be the icing on the cake.

People always complain that we don't incorporate youth very well, but how are we supposed to incorporate them if we keep buying superstars to put in front of their face? Was Pedro ready for the big-time at Barca? Nobody knows. But he got his chance. Are Can, Weiser, etc ... ready for it? Nobody knows, but if we keep buying we will most likely never know.

Not saying they need to start but some time in appropriate situations may be really good. It's up to the coach to put players in positions where they can succeed.

Germany presented their best players in the age category but that was 2-3 years ago. They werent the stars they are now. They wouldnt play in the Olympics if they were big stars like they are now.

Also, Boateng,Badstuber,Mueller,Schurrle did not play against Iceland in the 4-1 loss because they were already playing for the senior team(apart from Schuerrle). They played in the first 2-3 group games but not the other 4-5. The reason the team didnt qualify was because there were constant changes in the team because many were entering in the senior team and the coach obviously didnt do a good job.

The team that lost 4-1 vs Iceland was : Sippel,Schmelzer,Hummels,Hoewedes,Diekmeier,Bargfrede,Reinartz,Gebhart,Grosskreutz,Bender and Schieber with Sam,Schwaab and Sukuta- Pasu coming from the bench.

I would personally rather see Can get some starts, make mistakes in midfield and learn from them rather than ever seeing Tymo-Gustavo again.

would Can be a suitable pairing with piggy? I dont know much about Can, someone break him down for me??

If we dont get a CM can we rely on Can to do that? or is he too young and not his position>

If that happens then Can had best learn fast. Don't think the FO is in the mood to fall too far behind this season. People might get their chances early on, but if we lose ground I'm expecting full panic by the break.

He's nowhere near ready for first team football. Give him another year in the 4th division and then we can decide whether to give him a shot or to loan him.

I don't think it's hate, just want to see an extra punch added to our CM.

Gustavo was absolute beast last year and I am glad he's on our side... Just imagine if he had an offensive punch to go with it...
