    Which really means:

'Perhaps we were interested, but now that his agent is shopping him around, we are not willing to pay an inflated pricve for him.'

I don't want this guy if he's going to cost what Ribery cost back in 08. It's ridiculous. One goal in the EM and he's getting star pricing?!? GTFO

He's a promising young player that can be a permanent fixture in our starting eleven for years to come. You don't often find players of his caliber at such a young age. Bender would be a great addition to the team.

Das Angebot von Bayern reizt mich, aber da Leverkusen mit mir plant und mich nicht gehen lassen, muss ich in Leverkusen bleiben."

Its obvious he wants to come. He cannot say directly i want to go to Bayern knowing that there is a big chance that Leverkusen won't sell him. But i don't know why Rummenige still talks about price its obvious they won't sell him. The only way they sell him is if bayern offers some huge amount like 30 mil

I don't think the goal in the Euro is why he has such a large price...it is because of all the qualities he brings to the table.

I simply don't understand why people are against this transfer. It's not as if we have never had a former 1860 player on the team. Besides I'd much rather pay 25 million for Bender than 40+ for Martinez.

This is the first part of the Bayern Fan Two-Step. The second step is "If only we had gotten X two years ago when he was going for what Ribery cost back in 08, but our FO are too cheap."

I think the advantages Bender has is experience with a number of Bayern players via his time on the national team, CL experience (though minimal), great Bundesliga experience and grounded in German culture/language.

There are no guarantees for any player as we all know, but Bender seems to have a few more subtle advantages that perhaps make him more attractive than Martinez for the money.

Both are young with massive upsides, box to box midfielders. Both can play in the back, Bender wide, Martinez central - so versatility is huge as well.

I think Bender is a solid plan B.

If we can't have a Spanish international, I will gladly substitute a up and coming German international in his place.

Martinez is the more complete footballer, better skills, better tactical education. Also basque players have the right mentality as seen for example with Lizarazu that is why I rather pay 40 Mio for Martinez than even 20 Mio for Bender

LOL. You have a point.... perhaps we don't want him coming to Bayern for the national team's sake!

I like him regardless. My top choice is Martinez, and clearly so is FO's.

The waiting game continues.... or as you call it "boredom". :D

I failed to point out the mentality aspect of Basques.... again, great point.

Dumb question: Basque is purely Spanish from my understanding. So was Liza born in that northern region of Spain initially or does the territory reach across national borders into France as well?

The Basque region covers a small portion of southern France as well.

Please don't tell me you're trying to compare Kaka's situation to Martinez's and our pursuit of him . One is approaching the latter stages of his career while the other is enormously talented and a few years from his peak. Apples and oranges. Because of the above, no way you can compare the two player's prices.

Kaka=underachieving, mostly hurt, expensive ex-superstar, and simply surplus to requirements

Martinez=young, up and coming budding superstar, and with a contractual 40M release fee

There is really no grounds for comparisons ;)

Crappy performance from Martinez and Spain, lost to Japan 1-0. Martinez played CB again and sucked. If he is so good dm/cm why is he playing cb even for the Spain olympics team
