And he'll lose it in 3 weeks worth of training unlike most of us A very well-known Track & Field coach (only in track and field circles cause nobody cares about them unless it's the olympics) said he did not mind if his athletes showed up a little overweight to the next season. He preferred it actually. He always thought that they will get through pre-season better than those that already looked great. He wanted them to peak when it mattered and not at the beginning of the season when few cared

Boateng RB.. is this something we will have to get used to it? Everyone knows he's a shite RB Jupp, besides you of course.
Looks like Jupp sees Shaqiri as a #10. Good news, considering Kroos and Muller needed a kick in the butt.
Maybe it´s just me but I actually find Boateng a more then solid RB...Rafinha isn´t better then him IMO. He hit quite a good cross for the Robben header in there also. There seems to be some kind of Anti-Boateng attitude around here as I think he could probably assist 4 goals in 1 match and defend like a lion and still he´d be ********ed over. Just my two cents.
He reads things slow, is incredible unimaginative, his combination is absolutely dreadful with others, hardly makes any runs, decent technically but not great and his passing is borderline woeful. All the attributes you need as a full back other than speed, he lacks. He also had a wonderful assist last season where he went past two players and gave Ribery an easy goal. And then he continued to be a completely waste of a player on the right for every other game he played on. My eyes literally hurt watching him play in Bayern's system where it is required to have an attacking fullback. He's better than Rafinha in defense but far worse in attack, which isn't hard to do. In other words, he has no business playing there ever for Bayern.
Boateng has been better at CB than at RB, but I think part of Boateng's problems at RB may have come from being paired with DvB on that side. If you are a team that's going to play the counter against Bayern would you attack the flank with Lahm and Badstuber or the one with van Buyten and Boateng? If Alaba is slow coming back I'd prefer Contento/Lahm at the start of the season over Lahm/Boateng on the wings at the back. Think Boateng, Rafinha and Contento are all about even at the outside and Boateng is better in the center.
Honestly I wouldn't mind contento playing till alaba comes back.. Plus I hope jupp rotates and subs a lot this season. Rafhina can help Lahm rest a few games or minnow teams. Dante/bads/boetang should rotate regularly Kroos/muller/shaq need to rotate regularly keep ribbery fresh and on their toes. Man/pizza to keep Gomez fresh. Would be great to have someone beside piggy.. If not then maybe kroos can be there incase piggy gets injured again or he needs rest. Shaq can be #10.
Kroos can play Basti's position and Muller can play AM during that timeframe as well. Bayern's record with Kroos in Basti's position was generally very positive last season when he replaced Alaba in the central midfield position. But having Martinez there could mean that Bayern really do have much better depth overall than last season.
Shaqiri superb as always. I hope he doesn't get to sit on bench a lot. There was also an acrobatic scissor kick he did which isn't in the highlights.
I like his attitude. When has anyone heard him complain, even under LvG? As long as he continues to score on average one per match, he remains IMHO. There's a whole team behind him that can score as well.
Was Gomez speaking about Shaqiri? Or himself? Is Shaqiri the one who assists Gomez final goal in the 6-0 drubbing?
Well the two times I have MOST noticed Shaqiri on the pitch for Bayern where when he was tearing someone up on the left touchline. I could easily see him playing LB on occasion and overlapping Ribery, allowing Lahm to play the same role behind Robben. However he seems to be more keen around the penalty area, so moving him closer by playing him in midfield would be my guess of his location to start out. Heynckes says #10, then fair enough. Clearly he can play a multitude of spots. BTW, I like what I have seen from Madzuckic (sp?) and Pizarro as well. Putting pressure on Gomez.
