I've never really understood the rationale about taking a temporary hiatus for a year. It's kind of like announcing you are going to take a leave of absence from your job for 12 months to focus on paying off your debts.... It just sounds oxymoronic.

IIRC the Arizona Loansharks did this in.......excuse me, the Arizona Sandsharks,..... did this once and came back.

The picture shows a fairly robust crowd too, much more than the Texas Outlaws games I went to or even the ill fated Massachusetts Twisters

Good luck to all (except lawyers)

Actually thought this was one of the more "successful" PASL clubs.

Just sounds like they wanted to invest in a different team because its connected to MLS!

This is concerning because based on all outward appearances, Louisville was doing everything right. They put out a competitive team each season, their average attendance was above capacity for their venue and everything they did including their web-site reflected a level of professionalism above the norm. Is it possible that financial pressures on the owners not related to the team itself has caused this decision to be made? I would agree with Shelts that hiatus normally means goodbye. Few things change dramatically enough in a year to allow a team to rebuild an organization and restart. A shame.

This is disappointing news. I would put Louisville as the 2nd most stable and solid ownership group in the PASL-Pro, behind San Diego. That includes the addition of the new teams & owners for this season. I don't believe the Kansas Magic or the Arizona Storm/Phoenix Monsoon will be playing either this year in the Pasl -Pro. (Not that anybody will notice).

Thats a drag they were one of only four PASL-PRO teams that responded at all to my request for copies of games and or info.
San Diego allowed me to buy some copies of games which was very nice for them to do.
Calgary did not record any games but sent me to the cable company(Shaw) which did not even respond.
Kansas emailed me back and they had nothing on film but BJ did email back.
Louisville buy far was the most generous they sent me several games on dvd and even a jersey. They were a class act and i would think all teams would be willing to go the extra mile for fans no matter where they are located.
Or at least respond to the email.....with a no!

Not that it will make any difference (if you play in a building you own, why would you move and pay rent?), but what ever happened to Broadbent Arena (home of the AISA Lousville Thunder)?

Did they ever build the new arena in Louisville that was supposed to house an MISL team in like 2008?

I think they did. This Lightning ownership is the same owner that wanted to join the MISL initially. He would have lost more money on the franchise fee than he lost in three years playing in the PASL, which apparently was still too much.

Syd the Franchise fee i think is way to high for the Misl and i think its keeping teams away and thats why they are poping up in the PASL instead .

The newest arena in Louisville is the KFC Yum center

What are the fees for being in the lower league Syd? Why couldn't Louisville play the year in PASL Premier and play only the closets teams to them?

They could play in the PASL-Premier for the tidy sum of about $1000 plus operating expenses. Probably around $10,000 altogether.

No the only options for the Lightning where Yum! Center (Louisville Basketball Home), which is way to big, Freedom Hall (Louisville former Home), again way to big. Then Louisville Gardens (think dump like Kemper Arena in KC or Cincinnati Gardens - home for the Kings). Louisville owner was not content with moving to the Gardens, he thought no one would come to a place like that. Plus he needed more support than the 1,200/night which he was putting into an indoor facility - To his credit is extremely impressive.

So, wait, isn't the Yum! Center (tee hee) the "new" arena? I haven't been to Louisville in years.

If they wanted to light $10k on fire in the middle of the street, sure.

WOW! So let pool our IST funds together. Bring a former team back from the dead and sell it off when they are ready to move up to the PASL. I mean.... everyone thinks they know how it should be done. What a great way to prove you know how to run an indoor team! HA HA HA HA:D
