Anyone else tired of this dude here.........Seems to be a luxury we can't afford, he's slow, inconsistent and on a big wage.......shirley we could put his money to better use, like a physical presence up front to help our speedsters get more open. And after this last episode, he looks like he is starting to act like a douche..........get rid I say.

Playing great 1 out of 3-4 games isn't gonna cut it so I'd have to agree. Get rid of him. I'm tired of not seeing consistency.

Anyone else feel he was "Nowak's boy" and we're looking to ship him out now? From everything I've seen the team looks frustrated with every decision he makes on the field, and now apparently there's issues off the field.

Nice catchy narrative ya got there, but is there really a problem? The team said it was an "internal matter" as to Freddy neither playing nor traveling with the team. I think that arouses some suspicion that maybe a move is in the works or there was an injury they don't want to discuss, but the off the field issues conclusion is one I just don't get. Was that because he was seen at Xfinity Live? God forbid a guy in his 20's go out on a night off. As for frustration on the field, that kind of comes with losing and watching Pajoy miss sitters just about every game (not that I am hating on Pajoy; we just need better options to compete at a high level).

It's possible. I wouldn't be against it if we found a solid attacking midfielder to replace him. Brek Shea, for example.

Agree with this, I would be fine moving him for a more consistent player or one with more relative upside (Shea) however I would definitely not want to move him just to get rid of him a la Le Toux, Ruiz, Califf, Mwanga...well everyone in the history of our organization.

Just because Freddy has not lived up to his ridiculous hype does not mean he hasn't been a competent player for our squad. Within our own roster, who would you replace him with? Keon, who has been completely invisible this season? Lahoud, who kills every attack with his putt putt slow roller passes that make our players wait for the ball and let the defenders close down? Roger Torres, who shows promise but isnt ready for the big time by Hackworths own admission?

Freddy is one of the few players in our roster that has the creativity to combine with Michael Farfan in the middle. The other players (Lahoud, Daniel) are too slow of mind and foot to read the game and play off Marfans creativity like Freddy does. I think people overlook this and he's underrated for this reason alone. Why do you think we struggled to muster a dangerous attack against New York? Freddy's presence allow Marfan the freedom to be creative because unlike Lahoud he doesnt stand around like a traffic cone simply beating the ball back where it came from. This draws defenders away and allows Marfan to do his thing. Anyway, like I said, I'm fine with moving Freddy but only for a real return, not some money we wont use or a player we wont play.

Yeah, is that every game or just a game here and there............more like here and there, and thats the problem......I would rather see Torres get that time personally.....but I'm bias :)

This is because he's been with various US National teams.............. The Senior men's team, and also the U23 Olympic team. Adu, Okugo and Jack Mac all missed a good chunk of pre-season and early season practices/matches due to their time with the Olympic team................

Adu has his flaws, primarily losing the ball too often I think due to his lack ability to handle physicality, but to those who just want him out I ask: who do you have in mind to replace him? Freddy actually provides something this team really lacks: a threat out of the midfield to create chances on goal. Sure, you can criticize him for not being consistent about it, but honestly watching this team one has to admit that this roster lacks anyone who poses serious questions against opponents defenses with any kind of regularity. Face the fact that our midfield is not very good compared to the better clubs--we all saw how inept the midfielders were at generating an attack against New York. Freddy Adu, despite his shortcomings, still has the vision and creativity (and skill) to make him the most important orchestrator in the final third that this roster has.

So my question is, who are you going to replace him with if you want to get rid of him?

I watched a replay of a match at PPL park a week or so ago. I think it was the Montreal match. One thing that I noticed on the replay was that whenever Adu was on the attacking half, there were three opponents with two steps of him all the time. Every time Freddy received the ball, they would converge on him. Any time he could pass the ball to a teammate took some real effort.

It seems to me that this freed up our other players. So, even though Freddy may not have great stats, his presence on the field opens up opportunities for the Union. I assume that the coaching staff knows this and tries to take advantage of it.

If this is the case - others with deeper expertise will know better than me - Freddy is a real asset. It may be hard to replace him.

I don't think it's a matter of finding someone better, but more cost-effective. Is he worth his DP-salary? I think you're hard pressed to find someone who says yes, based on his performances since arriving(minus a game or two).

The only thing I would say negatively about Adu is that his production doesn't match the cost for him; however, he is a creative player who draws a lot of attention. He regularly sends several good through balls into dangerous areas that just are not being finished, good saves made or a good defensive play is made. He does have short comings but then so does every MLS player for the most part. Freddy has huge expectations thrust upon him and is not living up to them and I am not sure anyone really could.

I am curious to the real reason he was not at the NYRB game, whether it be that he was injured and not listed, sick, did something wrong, or even possibly being traded.

I've seen this too, but have decided it is because Freddy holds the ball too long. MLS opponents have realized it is easy to double team him and either strip the ball or make him back pass.

I had not thought of that. So, teams will double up on really good players or really not so good players and single team the rest. It would be really nice if teams would release their game plans after a match. While it would cut down our our WAG, it would give us a chance to play 'What If'.

We have a minus 1 goal differential.........so the attention he gets isn't turning into goals. Adu's true value to the club could be as trade bait for a 'head turner' ;)

too much cash for too little return. If, and I'm saying "if" the org. has money-flow problems-his could be better spent starting next year.

MLS salaries are paid by the league..... Adu's salary is paid by the league, allocation $$$ most likely cover the hit that's above the cap number.

I don't care about the cost or who foots the bill. But I can't imagine his paycheck sits well with his teammates who seem to work harder week in and week out (a lot of them at any rate).

Every time I saw him play for Benfica, Monaco and Aris, I was impressed. Granted, it was only like 10 games in total I saw, and is likely I just happened to see him when he had a "good day."

Still, Adu is a mystery to me. I don't get how a player that from time to time can be so good, is not wanted anywhere. Even if he's inconsistent, I see guys who are never half as good having a much better career.

Like others, I watch the Union because of him -and Galaxy because of Landon. The two MLS teams I more or less follow. Some games Freddy doesn't seem all there, but even in bad days he still produces enough.

I suspect it has to do with expectations. FA was praised as the coming of the Messiah as a kid, and people expect too much from him. Sort of like LD who, unless he scores two goals and has two assists, everybody starts saying he's done for and should be replaced.

Honestly I think it's more to do with the price tag vs. results. If we were paying upper-mid CAM money for him at around $250k I don't think you'd see the griping as much. Since he's paid about twice that figure and the highest payed player on the roster, the pressure is on to at least have consistent quality starts at a minimum in lieu of a goal every few games.
