Yes that would be nice... my report from round 1 will btw be very short and a week late though, because I'm on vacation.... but then the results and the performances are generally a bit of a "mess" in the first 3 rounds in any case, because the players are not match fit and some of the teams have signed a new coach who want to adapt a new style of play they need to adjust to, or they are testing some new tactics or new players. .
Is N'Doye worth 6 million € you ask... well, FCK have refused several offers of around 5 million € and from bigger clubs than Trabzonspor, so I guess 6 million € simply was the price tag, if they were to let him go.... so in that respect the price is right, when there are big clubs from bigger leagues making that kind of offers. He has been topscorer in the Danish Superliga the past two years in a row and was also top-class for FCK in the Champions League, so quite frankly I think he is too good for both the Danish and Turkish league... and I'm positive that he could have signed with a club from the English PL if he had played his cards right, but he has quite clearly had his main focus on the $$ the past 6 month, which was obvious when looking at his rather poor performances before the summer break.... and I'm sure it was was also his lack of focus at FCK, that kept him out of the team in the first match this season against FC Midtjylland.. so in other words, he was in a hurry to leave FCK, when the offer was right. As for the number of goals he has scored, then the Danish Superliga is a very tactical league, so I doubt you will ever see a player scoring 30 goals in the Superliga..... as far back as in 1997-98 Ebbe Sand managed to score 28 goals, but back then the league was not quite as strong as it is today, and this has never happened before or after... in 2010-11 N'Doye became Superliga topscorer, scoring 25 goals, which is the most goals a player has scored in the Superliga since Ebbe Sand in 1997-98 as I mentioned... it was also the first time in 9 years that a Danish Superliga topscorer had managed to score more than 20 goals. .
The N'Doye deal with Trabzonspor has been called permanently off... http://www.bold.dk/nyt/CV-Ingen-videre-dialog FCK had allowed Trabzonspor to negotiate the personal terms with N'Doye, but when they had agreed, the negotiation between the two clubs stranded after a very short meeting, according to the FCK Director of Football Carsten V. Jensen . According to rumours, it could seem that Trabzonspor suddenly only were willing/able to pay FCK 3,5 million € , perhaps because N'Doyes personal demands were bigger than they had expected, or perhaps because they were hoping that an unhappy N'Doye could influence FCK to take a smaller offer, but FCK do not at all seem interested in a deal, if they do not get the price that they are asking for, so the deal is now permanently off. Knowing how FCK have been acting in transfer matters in the past, I'm sure they now feel so insulted by this late attempt to lowering the price, that there can be no new negotiations with Trabzonspor, even if they should try to return with a new and much better offer. It will be a matter of principles, rather than a matter of money... and according to an official Stock exchange announcement by FCK, they are negotiating with several clubs at the moment. .
That is an old story. The Turkish story of a confirmed transfer for €6 million is newer and seems more trustworthy although it has not been confirmed by FC Copenhagen yet. And I want to see it on their website before I can truly believe it. I wonder if there are still some problems with the deal or if FCK are waiting to confirm the deal so they can present one or more new signings simultaneously. I wouldn't be too surprised if they have a signing or two just waiting for the N'Doye deal to go through. It would be very naïve to expect great things from last year's team with the top scorer removed and only Nicolai Jørgensen as a new signing. I do believe that Jacobs is a better coach than any of the two from last season, but if they want him to achieve great things, they need to give him something to work with. And the current team is only a work in progress.
No.... if you look more carefully at the official news from FCK, this actually came after the official Stock exchange announcement by FCK and after they said that they now were negotiating with Trabzonspor... so first FCK were letting N'Doye negotiate, and made it public that something was going on between Trabzonspor and FCK, but then the FCK Director of Football called off the deal, the day after... It's true that the news from Turkey about the deal came a bit later, but that is just because they had only picked up the "old" news about the agreement between Trabzonspor and N'Doye at that point, but did not know what had actually happened in Denmark in the final negotiations between FCK and Trabzonspor ... so the last news from Turkey was "old" news... and the deal is most surely off. .

So N'Doye is now in Lokomotiv Moscow for somewhere around €7 million. It seems that Trabzonspor were leading the race all the way until the last moment when Loko gave a better offer and one that Trabzon weren't able to match. I think it's a good price to get for a player like N'Doye, and, with his attitude in mind, it was the only right solution to let him go. My hope now is that FCK will spend the money buying a key player in every line: A central defender with pace and good ball skills, a defensive midfielder who can also distribute the ball well and a target man with as many of N'Doye's skills as possible. With good scouting, I think it should be possible to get this. But good scouting is the big if... And they need to sign these players tomorrow if they want to use them against Brügge. I don't think that is very likely and, for the same reason, I don't think it's very likely that FCK will keep their CL dream alive for much longer.

It's been a really sad day today in danish football today and knowing Ceres' preferences, I'm sure that he'll agree to that. One of the biggest names in the history of AGF, John Stampe passed away earlier today, only 55 years young. Apparently he'd been fighting liver cancer for the past few months and the disease was named as cause of death. I'm old enough to remember John Stampe from his playing days - a physically strong and intimidating central defender who commanded his team and demanded dedication. A never-say-die type of player, who sometimes could seem downright arrogant in his playing style. Many anecdotes have been told in the newspapers and on various fan forums today - about Stampe's arguments with not only referees but also team-mates and opponents, often all three categories in the same match! One of the stories go that Stampe during a match simply sat down on the ball, because he was appalled that the opponents did not try anything attacking-wise... Stampe not only became a club-legend with his record 444 first-team matches but also tried his hand at managing, though with considerable less success than he had as a player. He had the big mis-fortune to play at a time when danish NT had a host of strong central defenders who were all plying their trade in more professional leagues than the danish 1st division and therefore he only was capped once. However, I believe that in Stampe's active days, AGF never finished below 4th place - a rare feat even today. Among those who pay tribute to John Stampe is Stig Tøfting, who remembers that "you did not play alongside John, you played under him!" and that as evil and dedicated Stampe was on the pitch, as friendly and good-natured was he off the pitch, for which reason Tøfting and the other team-members would name Stampe "Dr. Jekyll and mr. Hyde". But as Tøfting has stated today: To me he was nothing else than Mr. AGF. He was a great player, and those who knew him also describes him as a great person and character. Rest In Peace.

John Stampe was a very colorful person and a kind of Danish "Franco Baresi" as the Star sweeper/libero in the Danish league, never being interested in leaving Denmark and AGF Aarhus, where he spent his entire career, playing a record 444 first-team games, so of course he became a club-legend . I can btw see that he is also getting praised by Peter Schmeichel on twitter : http://twitter.com/Pschmeichel1 Stampe could no doubt have been a regular for the Danish NT, if not for a World class Morten Olsen , who played the very same position as sweeper/libero in (at that time) much more professional clubs abroad... and since Olsen never seemed to get injured, Stampe never really got the chance, and as written, then Stampe never had any intentions of leaving AGF and going abroad, to play in the big leagues. .
Tonights early game: AaB-FC Nordsjælland 1-1(0-0) 1-0 Lasse Nielsen (84) 1-1 Joshua John (88) Well, quite a disappointing match today. Nothing really happened in the first 20 minutes except one big chance for FCN which man of the match Nicolaj Larsen miraculously saved. After this period of stalemate, AaB took much more of the initiative but the weakest link - the teamwork between RB Henrik Dalsgaard and DC Kenneth Emil Petersen gave a number of opportunities for FCN which they fortunately failed to make count. After a somewhat boring 1st half Denmark's worst referee (IMO) Kenn Hansen decided to take center stage throughout most of the remaining part of the match. AaB had controversially a penalty claim from Helenius turned down and Lucas Andersen was brought down on the edge of the box but instead of a freekick, he was booked which brought the teammates to the edge of fury. So much so that mr. Hansen also booked Lasse Nielsen. Moments later an incident between Jores Okore and Helenius cost a booking for the FCN-player. In fact not much of 1st half's polished football was evident in this part of the match and slowly it began to look like a goalless draw, but with 6 minutes again FCN failed to clear a corner-kick which was headed across goal by Kenneth Emil Petersen - his only good action in the match - and Lasse Nielsen powered the ball into the back of the net. Unfortunately Kenn Hansen was not done claiming attention. Right after the opening goal Jeppe Curth was served with a through-ball, but fouled by Patrick Mtliga. Of course I'm biased, but I do really believe that had Mtliga not fouled Curth, he would have had clear run to goal but instead of the obvious red card Mtliga unexplainably only was booked. More drama to come - another few moments later Curth broke through on the left and from an acute angle he fired directly at the FCN-keeper, which gave a rebound but Okore pushed Curth so hard that the AaB-player nearly ended up on the stands! Again Kenn Hansen decided to overlook the obvious penalty, which of course was not well taken by the disappointing few spectators. More unfortunately we do suffer from a small squad here in Aalborg and I make no secrets of my dislike for Dalsgaard as rightback and even more so KEP in central defence. Those two geezers had obviously decided it was napping time with less than 2 minutes to play and suddenly Joshua Johns was point blank in front of goal and a stranded Nicolaj Larsen could do nothing to right the wrong made by those infront of him. Apart from the young referee's poor attempt at stamping up some kind of authority - which he failed more than miserably - I'm deeply disappointed by two factors: 1: A little under 4800 spectators. It's the reigning champions, goddammit! I know it's still vacation time and that FCN does not have the same name as Brøndby or FCK, but they still - usually but not much shown today - play an attractive kind of football which must go to the heart of every lover of the game. And not only the general attendance was deeply disappointing - less that 10 away fans! You could fill a mini-van with their supporters and there'd still be room for the odd hitchhiker. For chrissakes - it's the champions and they got no support whatsoever! That's just not good enough in my book - but I suppose the locals were more busy playing golf or holidaying in some expensive and exotic luxury-resort far, far away. 2: As already mentioned, I just can't see a future in the team for KEP. Sometimes he does well, I'll admit that. But he easily loses his head - the lowest point still being getting red-carded AFTER the end of last season's away match to Lyngby. And often he's simply not positioning himself right. Add to that that Henrik Dalsgaard has been converted to RB, not because he's got the talent for that position, but because we really don't have any alternatives. And this is the real rot: The link between KEP and HD remains fragile and is easily exposed to fast-paced attackers, much more than is the case between strong DC Lasse Nielsen and naturally-born LB Jacob Ahlmann. At the end of the day maybe the 1-1 draw was a well-deserved result for both teams. I know that some might argue that FCN saw most of the ball and had the biggest chances, but it's my firm believe from what I saw from the stand that AaB had the most opportunities, including the two mentioned penalties which were overruled by the ref.
Thanks for the thorough report Jens fup! I´m sad to see that more fans didn´t turn up to support the Aab Boys. It´s vaccation times. We see the same thing in Sweden with dropping attendance during this period. I guess 1-1 is still a good result considering it´s the Champions. But they had the lead after 84 minutes. (Reminds me of IFK Göteborg this year. 11 times we´ve had the lead and then just either losing or drawing.) But all in all no losses thus far so no major disaster. Maybe Aab could be punnished later during the season with injuries and suspensions hitting an Aab side without any greater depth in the squad....

Yes it's still vacation time, and the Superliga always get off to a slow start in the first 3-4 rounds... and then of course the Olympics in London (which is not all that far away from Denmark), also keep some ppl away from the Superliga games... As for the match/transfer updates I promised, then I will have to postpone it a bit, since the clubs suddenly did some serious shopping this week, which change my predictions a bit... which is also a bit of a problem with the first rounds of the Superliga, because Danish clubs often aim fairly high on the transfer market, so instead of signing the reinforcements they need in the summer break, before league start, they are waiting to see if they can pick up something better... or in other words they are looking for the "leftovers" who had hoped to get a contract in the big leagues, but for some reason failed, and these players are usually on standby until late in the transfer window, hoping to get a better contract in a bigger league. .

AaB-FC Midtjylland 3-0 (1-0) 1-0: Nicklas Helenius (21) 2-0: Lasse Nielsen (52) 3-0 Kasper Kusk (64) What a wonderful way to spend my last summer-holiday! In the sun at the stadium watching my local team out-play, out-smart and in any way absolutely out-do FCM. But before anyone gets carried away, I know that even this great run that AaB is in the middle of, will end - most likely it'll be a different AaB-team with different results come october with cold, wet, windy weather and poor pitches. I bet that those locals who are already beginning to talk about European football, will demand Kent Nielsen's head on a silver platter - or any kind of platter for that sake - come early november.... But back to present day. The match did look quite a lot like most other danish superleague matches this season. Everyone involved knows of course that relegation this season is a matter of luck, or lack of it - and therefore it seems more important not to lose than try to win. So in that respect the first 15 minutes were on the edge of boredom, but with AaB in the completely dominant role. And that's where they stayed! One can only assume that having your debut on your national team midweek really does work wonders for your confidence. For Helenius was just about here, there and everywhere (Lennon-McCartney...) and to stay on the note, he'd make FCM wish it was Yesterday, because they really needed more than a little help from whatever friends they could find! It was Helenius who opened the score after 20 minutes when he got to a rebound and coolly hammered it home. After the first goal, AaB was just even more dominant and with a little more coolness both Lucas Andersen and Helenius could easily have doubled the tally. FCM had precious little to show and right after the goal they took the former too-many-clubs-to-mention-player Morten "Duncan" Rasmussen off. Apparently he was either injured or in dubious form, because his replacement had been warming up since kick-off! Now, I've seen at least 500 matches with AaB over the years since I got my own debut in the stands back in 1982 and if there's something I've learned, it is that AaB just can't play two good halves right after each other. Well, tonight they could! From the first touch in second half, the chances came like snowflakes in a blizzard and they were all AaB's. A corner after 52 minutes ended with a somewhat lucky finish from our 2nd NT-debutant Lasse Nielsen and it was 2-0. Moments after FCM desperately threw in both their remaining subs but to no avail. Because in this phase it was Helenius all over the place - again. He got AaB's only booking of the night - a bit dubious for diving. It happened right in front of me and while I admit that it wasn't near a penalty, I'm dead certain that it was neither a deliberate dive from Helenius. It didn't deter him though. Another opportunity only minutes later got wasted because Helenius slipped when trying to stop the ball at the edge of the box. Much more acute was his work after 64 minutes when from the same position he tunnelled the ball through a FCM defender and laid a perfect pass for Kasper Kusk who ended in the net along with the ball; 3-0. AaB remained in total control with a passing perfection that I cannot remember having seen better. On the other hand FCM was almost an insult - such was their amount of technical errors. Have I mentioned their chances? OK, they had one! A long shot about 3 minutes from halftime that forcecd Nikolaj Larsen to dive down but he was never really tested before or after that. While I'm thrilled with tonights confident performance, I still remember that we are forced to operate on a shoe-string budget with a squad that in size - though certainly not in quality - reflects our financial situation. When the weather becomes colder and bans/injuries start to take their toll on the team, we'll see some defeats as comprehensive as today's victory, but the longer we can maintain this form the more unlikely it seems that AaB should be one of the two teams to suffer the drop.

Great to see you guys fighting well in the league despite the financial situation you´ve been facing for some time. Yes, if Aab can hang in there and keep this level for a further period, then we could see a decent placing in the end. Although a few of the squads in the league with better depth to their roster might come strong later on. I guess the first eleven men are more than decent qualitywise. But a couple of injuries and suspensions could change things to the worse potentially. Let´s hope not. This is my club in Denmark. I spent a vaccation in the city and was treated very kindly by the locals, and felt at home instantly. I think Gothenburgers and Aalborggensere gets along really well...... I love this pic. It IS a great arena - actually considered one of the best with atmosphere and everything, but only when things are going well. Truth is the Aalborg football audience can be both incredibly generous to our team but equally incredibly harsh. For anyone to come as visitor, I'd recommend upper deck on Nordjyske, it's the stand closest to the tenniscourts and parking lot in front of the pic. Avoid rows 21-22 though as there's a tall barrier that takes a lot of the view. But the 4 highest rows gives you a full view of everything on the pitch.
I will be sure to come some time in the future to watch my Danish club play. I will hopefully be able to drag along a couple of my friends from the LS-section at Ullevi. So then we´ll be able to witness the enviornment where your former Norwegian Captain played previously. I tell you man, when he was out through injury earlier we instantly struggled badly in defense. When he returned we directly became nore steady in defense and after his comeback we suddenly have produced 7 out of 9 points. He´s a leader and he gives valuable advice to the youngsters as well. Such a character and team-booster. Yes, it certainly looks very atmospheric. Such a lovely, tight arena. This is how most arenas should look like. Thanks for your recomendations regarding the best places "in the house". The Aab supporters are much like the Angels of Gothenburg. At times generous and sometimes a bit harsh. Funny you should mention Kjetil Wæhler, because that's exactly how I felt when they had to sell him. And I think the problems Lasse Nielsen went through last spring was due to the fact that now HE had to be the leader of the defense where he'd only used to be the apprentice with guidance from Wæhler. It seems at the moment that Lasse Nielsen have finally stepped into that role, but he'll still need to prove himself over the remaining part of this season.
