How about a bet? If Chandler goes to the Jamaica game then Schrutebuck changes his avatar to a picture of Chandler for say 2 months, if he is "injured" or "tired" then Bimmer changes his avatar picture to Schrutebuck’s favorite player for 2 months?
I think that's fair. I stop posting about Chandler, and in return Bimmerbenz stops posting about Chandler. We can have it take effect immediately.
We get to see Beitashour and Morrow against Chelsea soon at right and left back. If one or both excel we could next call them up for Azteca for a 2nd test. We need to start developing some depth at fullback position.
I agree with everything you said here. This would give us the chance to have the strongest possible lineup. That said...this isn't the first time that Chandler has turned down a call up. It's starting to become a habit, and I'm getting the definite impression that the guy simply doesn't want to play for the U.S.
Agreed, it is a little worriesome, but my overall point is, we cant just say no to Chandler. In my opinion, we have to ask him back, we dont have many other options.
In a perfect world, yes. But I don't think its total despair if Chandler never suits up for the national team again. I am more than a little bothered that Klinsmann is giving minutes to Castillo rather than Lichaj at this point. Klinsy should have figured out that isn't going to work by now. And while the idea of Fabian Johnson being closer to goal by pushing him into the midfield is "sexy", as we've already seen, its completely unnecessary. He still has a massive impact on our attack from the fullback position. We don't have depth at the fullback position. I'm not arguing otherwise. But at least we do have an option in Fabian. That's something we didn't have under the old regime.
Beitashour, Lichaj, Johnson (if Morrow can replace him at LB). That's 3 for RB right there. Even Chandler's own team is not entirely happy with his fullback play which is why they have moved him to mid on occasion. Lichaj scored a goal for Aston Villa against Chelsea this year. Check it out. He's not bad. All this talk about Chandler is blotting out all the great players we have ready to step up and play with the kind of guts we need on the team.
What "great players" are we missing out on? This is a thread about Chandler, so people are going to engage in all this talk. There are plenty of other threads to talk about plenty of other players. Just because people are butt-hurt over a sense of "loyalty" to the national team from the perspective of a fan doesn't mean you can come up with a bunch of nonsense about the guy. Like, Nurnberg not entirely happy with his RB play, so they moved him to mid sometimes? Give me a break. They played him there because they needed him there. Sorry, but your full on hatred of Chandler is crap. He's a player, a very good player and better than anyone else we have to potentially play RB. I think (and hope) he stays with us because he will make us a better team. I like Lichaj, too, and we'll need at least those three to have options at FB. But, don't get it twisted, the best duo we have at the corners for the next few years will be Johnson and Chandler.
lol Chandler's team wasn't happy with his fullback play? Stop making lies excellency. Nuremberg moved him up to RM because they needed more offense but then they moved him back to RB and he played a lot better than he did at RM.
No I'm not making a bet. I'm proposing bilateral disarmament. I'll stop talking about Chandler immediately on Bigsoccer, but only if you do the same.
No. I'll stop talking about Chandler at all on Bigsoccer forever, but only if you do the same. To take effect as soon as you agree.
Why? He is still a USMNT player and hasn't played for Germany or talked to the media about wanting to play for Germany. No thanks schrutebuck but I'm optimistic that Chandler will play in the September or October WCQs.
Based on my advanced reading comprehension skills...apparently people think that you post excessively about Chandler and Boyd. As such, they are proposing a bet that would result in you not being allowed to post about either player for an extended period of time.
People? I think it's only a few people who don't like Chandler or Boyd, and I don't excessively talk about them I only talk about them in their own threads.
Since you've missed out the last few months, the issue seems to be that Bimmerbenz feels that American fans cannot be infuriated at Chandler for nonchalantly skipping the only 8 important US matches over the last 2 years. I expect him to come crawling back for September, but I'm not exactly overjoyed. I actually feel sorry for both Bradley and Klinsmann in that they've both fallen victim to Chandler's unreliability.
