Found it interesting that after he was subbed out that the announcer stated that Hyndmann said that Shea has missed 75 training sessions this season (including pre-season)

Really? That's extremely disappointing if true. He's got so much potential, I'd hate to see him turn into Dennis Rodman out there (talent vs. ego, ego wins).

    Edit: also, the hair.

I'm pretty sure the point was he's been injured a lot this year and they've been saving him for games...

He was terribly overused last season by club and country. Last thing he needed was that Jan stint with Arsenal.

Watching last nights game, he didn't start off terribly. He had some decent opportunities early on. Dallas just looks disjointed. He had a nice run and lefty cross, but his teammates were way behind the play. A better team, and that is a goal.

He was less into it as the game wore on, and the sub was probably warranted. They will be fine next season as injuries get better for some starters. Dallas is missing a lot of first 11 players. Brek being off form is part him, part the rest of that team. If you put him on a better squad right now, I think he'd bounce back pretty quickly.

This is the hope with all the transfer talk. It's tough to end a 13 game winless streak only to go up against arguably the best team in the league the next week. For those of us who were hoping he'd be something of like the new face of the USMNT we have been sorely disappointed.

Why are all these players jumping straight to England? I know there's a common language and the competition at the moment is probably the best, still for a player like Shea I could easily see him getting buried on a bench or reserve team. He has a lot to work on and I can't see any PL club letting him grow while playing 1st team football.

I actually think he would develop into a more useful player to the USMNT playing in continental league like Spain, Germany, Holland or France. Or taking a page out of Bradley's book and signing with a mid to lower sized Italian club. In Italy in particular because of FFP and the shifting football market clubs are getting younger. If your goal is to play in England, if you play well you'll still get a move to an English side, and when you go you'd have a better shot at getting starts.

Maybe it's a money thing both with the players and clubs. I couldn't see many clubs paying £30k to Ream straight from the MLS. Also I couldn't see clubs going as far as English clubs with transfer fees.

In Shea's blogpost a while back, he mentioned La Liga as a place of interest for himself. EPL is debatably the best league in the world, and that's just where players (American, but many Germans, French, etc.) look to as the "goal."

I'm sure he'd be perfectly happy at a club like Schalke or Mallorca lol

I don't think he's ready for the EPL. Mid table France, Holland or mid to lower level Serie A teams could be good for him though. He needs to play in a more fluid system where he's actually getting touches and isn't as hampered by being surrounded by below average mid fielders, where there's more movement and technical ability around him. At FCD he's mostly stranded on an island and when he does get the ball he's got 2-3 defenders on him and no options. He won't succeed that way and neither would many. But even RSL, Sea or DCU given their style and mid fielders would make him look much better, although I don't see FCD moving him to another MLS team.

It was actually in December when he trained with Arsenal, he had a few weeks of rest before Camp Cupcake.

Yep, righty you are. I had it written down wrong here in my Brekken diary. December it was. I'll have to move that scrapbook page back a few. I hope I can find a December photo for it. The January photo his hair is green. I believe it was red in Dec. Don't want to get those mixed up. Wouldn't THAT be embarrassing!

Honestly, I thought Shea scoring all those goals last season was an aberration. Imo, he is still doing the thing he does well; like exploiting open space and crossing the ball. Everybody just knows he isn't a real dribbler and if you get him isolated with no space to run into he isn't much of a threat on goal. It's exacerbated by the fact that he's now playing some center forward now.

I also heard that. Inexcusable, if he was playing in Europe he'd be kicked off the team. You can't do that.

Dude. He wasn't just skipping out on practice.

eta: like luvdagame and others have said, he was injured and so forth. Not just staying at home doing his best Iverson imitation

He was, turf toe injury and I do hate that Dallas has been playing him as a lone forward.

But even if he's injured he should be with the team and not just skipping training like that. Dallas are a mess at the moment, internal issues and I'm sure Shea is not the only player who's frustrated.

I wonder how much longer Schellas Hyndman will have a job.

Do we know that he was focusing on recovery, rest? Not just blowing of training due to discontent with the manager?

While not 100 percent sure of the whole story it wouldn't surprise me. Shea is one of those types of player's, his personality as well. Not very mature at the moment.

Yeah, he had turf toe, but 75 training sessions seems a bit much to miss... I'd say he's the best player on the team, like DH said in an interview after the game, but they need Shea to step up and accept the responsibility that comes with that (namely, not mouthing off to your coach, whether or not he deserves it).

Well 75 is quite the number, not just one week. Seems like too much time to miss.

Shea shouldn't have signed that long contract, I can see him moving to a new MLS team but I can't see a European team buying him until after next season at the earliest.

You really should go over to the FC Dallas forum to ask that question and see what kind of answer you get. ;) :ROFLMAO:

For those who do not know. Turf Toe is a serious injury that can knock a player out for months at a time. Shoot....NFL quarterbacks will miss half the season with Turf Toe.

If that was truly his injury....then there really isn't any training you can do except weight training and classroom type stuff. You are off your feet until it is healed.
