Never too early (or late) to start the new Lobos thread with a good deal of news from the program already in the first half of the year including alumni playing professionally, spring results, new additions and the 2012 schedule http://www.golobos.com/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/nm-m-soccer-spec-rel.html
Stevens: Lobo Soccer Lands Canadian National Player in McKendry Ben McKendry believes his path to pro soccer will be paved by collegiate experience http://www.golobos.com/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/061212aaa.html
The NCAA announced the punishment of two players after their PK loss in the NCAA's. http://www.ncaa.com/news/soccer-men/article/2012-07-11/new-mexico-athletes-reprimanded The player who assaulted the referee appears to have received a rather light punishment as there was no post-season suspension levied.
Having read what was reported and seen the video, this is how I felt, too. There was contact between Rogers and the referee, but I felt it was blown out of proportion in some quarters. On the other hand, a two-game suspension for Rodriguez seems light. The guy is lucky he wasn't kicked off the team.
Two games is an appropriate punishment. It was a difficult time seconds after the lobos season had ended and the USF players, it seems, may have escalated Rodriguez's emotions by their celebration. Things like this happen. In no way should his punishment be more severe.
I would guess for a shot at the title for his last season in college. New Mexico does offer more exposure as well. I think that's his primary motive especially after the departure of UCF midfielders Kevan George and Warren who both signed with MLS
Well, if UCF has two guys in MLS I'd say there getting plenty of exposure. But yeah, after losing those guys odds are they aren't going to be as strong in 2012 while UNM is loaded for bear.
Ready? Ready! Tonight at UCLA. Will be interesting to see line-ups and formation and rotation with no home pre-season matches to observe. So much talent
gametracker no go RT @LoboMensSoccer: On the field for the Lobos: Mora Delgado Kafari Robson Venter Campbell Calderon Smith Sandoval Rossi Poblete in goal missing 1
huge second half for Lobos (running in sand at 7000' will do that) garners 3-2 win and Big Dev gets 2 goals and an assist in season opener
Matchtracker only gave him 1 g, 1a, although I heard the radio guys saying he scored twice. I didn't tune in in time to hear about the UCLA GK change, though. If you happened to hear why Earl Edwards left the game, would you mind posting it? Thanks.
my understanding was he was shaken up on a collision Devon got the game winner by all accounts in person and via TV feed (Robsen credited by UCLA folks) and it will be corrected
Thanks. Love these boys but Tulsa and SMU in Tulsa next weekend. We MAY know something about them after that (and a goal keeper situation?)
