Yeah don't know what's going on anymore there. Lack of a front office and reliance on 'volunteers' is the biggest thing that will never change. Well it might if soccer people that aren't ridiculously cheap step out of the way. It was turning into something really special a couple years ago, but the obstructionists who refuse to spend any money (even modest increases i'm talking about!) took over and really screwed it up unfortunately. I truly hope the teams that came in the last couple years (who are much more professionally run) will see this and really take it over. Can't have a national league without front office personnel. With US Club's national adult thing and USL squeezing from both ends NPSL could be in trouble. They are trying to compete with the PDL, but on a shoestring budget. People forget that most team owners, own their own businesses as well. So they in essence have to run two businesses and then do all the volunteer work???? But there are people that refuse to spend a dime on administration of a league.
with the NPSL NYRB U23s beating MassUnited 2-1 yesterday afternoon and then the Brooklyn Italians beating NYAC 2-1 last evening, Brooklyn leap-frogged back into first place. So for their last match of the season the NYRB will play NYAC at NJIT on Wednesday 7/11 with the the conference championship still at issue. The NPSL website does not have a kick-off time published yet.
NPSL/USL PDL overall team rankings... https://twitter.com/#!/USSoccerReport/media/slideshow?url=pic.twitter.com/m3u4s6xe
I'd love to know how Detroit can fail to win its division and be ranked higher than the team that did.
CCSUltra, well I didn't make the rankings but I thought it interesting that someone was willing to give it a try.
Oh, I know. I didn't mean to make it sound like I was blaming you. I just wonder how Detroit is ranked and not Erie.
yeah i was wondering that too. I'm glad to see the Great Lakes Conference attendance. Looks like the groups have quite a rivalry between all of them. Fantastic to see at this level.
just spoke with Coach Montgomery of the NYRB U23s, if NYRB happen to beat NYAC tomorrow nite at the high school in Harrison, NJ they'd likely match up vs. Morris County (NJ) Colonials in the first round of the regional playoffs. Brooklyn Italians I think would play FC Sonic.
I hope there is a league discussion of the playoff structure in the near future. Much rather see Midwest playoff tourney with top 2 teams from each conf.
that's how it usually is with the regions that have two conferences. Don't know the structure this year as I left the league before the AGM.
Congrats go out to both Woly and his U23s Baby Bulls who beat NYAC 5-1 this evening in the final match of the regular season and bring home the NPSL conference title!!!
yes, they either dropped out of the league on their own or they were asked to leave the league mid-season. you can take your pick on which scenario you'd like to believe.
FC Sonic host Brooklyn Italians in Conference Semi-Final Saturday night, 7pm, FC Sonic (10-1-1, Keystone Division) will host the Brooklyn Italians (10-1-3, Atlantic Division) in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania in the NPSL Northeast Conference Semi-Final. The two teams met in May of last year, in Bethlehem, in a U.S. Open Cup Qualifier and the Italians pulled out a respectable 2-1 overtime victory. The first 200 fans to enter the stadium will receive a FC Sonic rally towel. Gates will open and tickets will be on sale starting at 5:30pm on Saturday at the Ulrich Sports Stadium at Lehigh University – Goodman Athletic Campus.
FC Sonic will host the NY Red Bulls U-23 team on Saturday July 21st,7pm, in the NPSL Northeast Conference Final. The winner will represent the NE region in the NPSL Championship on July 27-29 in San Diego, CA.
so who has any team made it to the final four yet, and where in san diego will the championships be held, are they open to the public?
No teams in the final four. Midwest conference championship is next weekend in Cleveland. We play Madison 56ers.
I'm absolutely certain that the NPSL Final 4 will open to the general public. I'd suggest that you email the league office, but you probably would be better off just contacting the teams who eventually qualify.
They're open to the public from what I understand. The SD Flash are hosting the games which presumably means at their stadium (Del Norte High School) in San Diego.
I'm looking for info on Final Four tickets, but no one is picking up the phone at the SD Flash offices and I've got a delivery failure notice on two e-mail attempts.
