    Agreed.

And the best part of this trade is that this will just kill the Philly fans who loved Le Toux, now going to their hated rival! :D

Richards has shown little beyond his pace this year and though the 'caps have an abundance of strikers, this doesn't seem like the wisest move that they could've made.

Isn't Le Toux leaving for Europe after this season? I thought his contract was up and he wants to try to make it overseas after this year, which is why Philly traded him in the first place.

I'm not sure. I thought Nowak traded him because, well, I'm not sure I can explain anything Nowak did in Philly.

I can see this deal for Vancouver. Too many forwards, need to replace Chiumiento, etc.

Ironically, had they just kept Lee Nguyen at the beginning of the year, they probably don't have to make this trade.

I'm not so sure. I always liked Richards in that he brings energy, as well as skill. NYRB were always better when he was on the field. Why can't LeToux stick with a team? Anybody else digging the irony of Vancouver feeling like they need a winger? :)

    RevsLiverpool repped this.

Speed is his only asset. He has average touch, at best, and he can't cross or defend. He *was* a dangerous player at one point but for some reason, his best days seem behind him. Maybe a change of scenery will do him some good but he's looked average for NY this year.

Agree with this. He's killed the revs in the past with big goals down in the swamp but I think his best days are certainly behind him. Good move by NYRB getting LeToux - but I can't believe it only took Dane Richards to get him.

It's awesome that Vancouver is struggling for a winger ahahaha Lee Nguyen is laughing.

As mentioned up-thread, this may only be a half-season rental of LeToux but I still think it's a good deal for NY.

Only if they win the cup. If not they essentially gave Dane and allocation away for free.

It's a good deal regardless considering where they sit in the standings as it shows commitment to go for it down the stretch. An attack with Cooper Henry and Le Toux now makes them a very deep and dangerous attacking team that when healthy is certainly a Cup contender.

It's not a good deal regardless if they don't win this year assuming his contract is up and he wants to move abroad. I'm not saying it's a bad move, it's a short term ambitious one, I'm just saying it's also risky.

Now Backe's saying Richards is likely going to leave MLS when his contract's up, I guess you can't really take this trade at face value in terms of ability.
