Nyema is such a likable character. He's actually a fan of Zeljeznicar. I remember an interview he made before where he said Amar Osim is like a father figure to him.
Maribor just sold Velikonja to some team in England for 4 million, of which 2 million goes to them. Rest assured, he'll still play against us right before he leaves. Last year they sold Andjelkovic to Palermo for 1.5 million, 2 years ago Ilicic to Palermo for 2.5 million, Bacinovic also to Palermo for 1.5 million. Also Mihelic and Skolnik to Nacional Funchal for 1.5 million. That's 9 million in just 2 years. When are we going to sell like that? I'm looking at this current Maribor side and I'm wondering in what way are we even better than them. They have better players, better budget, better stadium, better transfers, better European results (knocked out Rangers last season), they're better than us in all levels. Maybe our starting line-ups are equal, but that's about it.
5 Slovenian NT players 1 Macedonian NT starter 10 Slovenian U21 players (some former, some current) 4 Slovenian U19 players (some former, some curent) 8 Slovenian u17 NT regulars
We're gonna have to watch out for this type of shit: Also, I just noticed Zajko Zeba already played two seasons for Maribor where he was a regular.
Newly promoted club Gradina Srebrenik brought in: Edin Husic - Sarajevo starter last season, one of Sarajevo's best players Damir Tosunovic - one of the best forwards in the Premijer Liga Nikola Mikelini - was once one of the best center-backs in the Premijer Liga, 1 NT cap Muamer Zoletic - arguably Sloboda Tuzla's best player Amir Hamzic - Zvijezda's captain and legend, 37 yrs old, can add experience to the club Team to look out for: Gradina
Zvijezda is the most organized club in the Premijer Liga. I hear Gradina is the same way. Their stadium is pretty shit though I gotta say, lol. That's smaller than my high school stadium.
It's about the size of my middle school stadium, no joke. I think the FA should implement a rule where you need a stadium of at least 3k to be in the Premijer Liga. That way, it would insure that all of the teams in Liga has some sort of financing (if they can provide a 3k stadium in our country, that's a big accomplishment).
Dude, you're overrating the threat that they possess and certainly overrating their stature as a club. They make good money from transfers/revenue/etc. of course because of Slovenia's qualification for the World Cup in 2010. They weren't making this much before that and it just proves how important it is for a country to qualify for a major tournament in order for them to progress and get noticed. Bekric is stuck in playing in countries like South Korea and Kazakhstan while a Maribor benchwarmer can move to England? And how about that Serbian defender who was on bench for Red Star but got a move to Bordeaux? It's clear as day that these teams get the recognition because of their national teams and it's the same reason we don't. I won't even lie, Maribor have a good team. Volas, Filipovic, Handanovic, and Mejac are their best players. They're a well run club, but I don't see how they're better than Zeljeznicar really. I'm pretty damn sure Zeljo would have dominated the Slovenian league too, it's a poor league in quality overall apart from maybe 2-3 sides. Fajic was the top scorer there with 20 goals last season, he NEVER had that good of a season in the Bosnian league. Says a lot right there really. And even though they're financially stronger than Zeljo, they're still inferior as a team to them. And I fully expect Plavi to show exactly that on July 18 and 24.
It is time to update this, don't you think? Friendlies In Velez's first friendly match of the summer break, we took on Slavija, a BPL bottom-feeder. We had, arguably, our best chance in the 6th minute. Okic took a chance from a free kick, and hit the post. Kajtaz tried putting back the unlucky miss with a header, but was again denied by the woodwork. Not too long after that, in the 10th minute, Slavija went up 1-0 with a corner's cross reaching Dudo, who easily place the ball into the net. Then later in the second half, Okic again had a close shot in the 40th, but the ball barely went past the post this time. It was then halftime and Slavija was leading 1-0 but we were easily the better team. We finally equalized in the 55th minute through a goal from Skaljic. Skaljic received another good chance to score in the 77th minute when he was one-on-one with the Slavija's goalkeeper, but it wasn't mean to be, as Tomovic had great reactions and kept Skaljic from scoring a brace. The match finished 1-1. Now, for our second friendly match. On July 13, we took on one of the top teams of the BiH Premijer Liga from last season, Olimpic. Ognjen Delmic and Mahir Karic made a good pair in the midfield in that game, with Delmic feeding Karic with a few good chances, converting the game-winning goal in the 39th minute. Our best chance came from Skaljic, who's shot was blocked at the last second, saving the possible 1-1 draw. The conditions were terrible in the second half. It was pouring hard, and it was very cold, and so the game ended as a 1-0 victory for Oimpic. This game also marked the debut of 17-year-old goalkeeper, Ali Dugalic. Well, despite the loss, it's good to hear we had our fair share of shots, and we did only lose by one to a top-five team from last season. Signings On July 9, we signed a pair of 19-year-olds in Fadil Maric (center midfielder) and Senad Zuhric (forward) to four-year contracts for both of them. The two youngsters played for our youth team, and were good enough to get big contracts. Another 19-year-old named Emrah Cosic also signed a four year contract with us, on July 13. He plays as a defender, so he can help us with the depth there. I believe he'll make the starting line-up by the winter break, for sure. And finally, for Sefko Okic. He is 24 year old and he has now officially signed a two-year extension. Last season he scored four goals for us, and he could provide some nice depth, acting as a substitute for the forward position. Other News Not too long ago, our opponent for the season-opener in the 2012-13 season of the BiH Premijer Liga was announced. We will take on the newly-promoted squad in FK Radnik Bijeljina at the Vrapcici Stadion. It will be a nice game to kick off the season, and it's nice to feel like you are guaranteed three points to start off your season. Also, we will be taking a tour to Austria from July 20 to July 27. We will play three matches on our tour, but it isn't known yet who exactly we will play against. The week after that, we will take on teams in the Czech League in another tour (Anyone remember last year's tour in France/Turkey? We had a good start to the season, in small part to those tours. Hopefully the same thing will happen again...). Our junior team will also be having preparation matches, as they will head to Sarajevo to take on Sarajevo and Zeljeznicar. They will also face Branitelj and Mladost gacko (my dad's home team). My LineUp Here is what I would like for Velez Mostar to field this season: BandovicSkaljic - Knezevic - Merzic - CericKodro - Hasanovic - Palaic - HebibovicCemalovic - Handzic Key Subs: Okic (FW), Balalic (MD), Zvonic (MD), Mahinic (DF) To wrap, I am confident heading into next season that we will play in the Europa League, via third/fourth place. We have a very nice and young squad right now, and the management is really trying to make us better. They are actually scouting these young guys in our youth team. Even with all these youngsters, we have a nice mix with the veterans, including Bandovic and Cemalovic. Well, that is all I have for now for the updates for you guys. As soon as new information comes out, I will post it here, for sure.
Just AWFUL. So I hear Borac are interested in bringing back Jagodic back as their coach now that they sacked Bozicic which shows how incompetent they are to even get a coach and then just sack him after two games. I hope Vlado rejects them and focuses on the U-21 team, build a base there for the future.
Excellent goal by Ramic, terrible mistake by Antolovic. Who would you guys rather have on goal, Bukvic or Antolovic?
It was just a bad mistake. He didn't even want the pass back from the defender so he isn't completely at fault for that. He had a fantastic season with Legia last term and Bilic said he wants to call him up for Croatia. His quality speaks for itself, he has to start on Wednesday.
This is gonna be a classic Eastern European derby. Let's hope Sarajevo can match this Levski side - it would be a very fun heated little fixture. As far as Levski's squad goes, word from fans is that this is their best squad in the past 10-15 yrs. Same goes for Maribor fans on Maribor. Levski and Maribor are unusually strong this time around.
This is a shame really. If we can't win from fúcking Sutjeska (don't care if it was a friendly) then we certainly won't win from Maribor.
Levski's squad is strong but their problem in the last half decade has been the bad management, the scandals, the negative atmosphere, etc. There's alot of bad that's been going on with them since around 2006 to be honest and it's difficult to go into depth on it. Despite Sarajevo letting in six to a Maltese club, I still think they have a chance if they can get a decent result in Bulgaria. Jovic needs to have his CB's wake the hell up though, they did nothing good over those two legs.
