Drogba has got a clause that allows him to leave Shangai Shenhua for free if Barcelona came calling. He will meet the Spanish club tomorrow

Poor form on DD's part if he ends up going to the blaugrana.

Would be a slap in the face to the Chinese club. Balague is reporting that his wages are too high for Barca though so hopefully the deal collapses.

    ABT... always be trolling

@GuillemBalague: Got to the bottom of the Drogba story reported in Spanish press. FCB say they don't want him. Drogba's ppl say he will join Shangai in July

    nice update from Juni

hopefully a disclaimer to some of our fans letting them know that all of our released youth players have not ended up starting for Barcelona, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Manchester United and Bayern is not neccessary

I think Juni may have missed Chris Sutton and his unsuccessful spell at Lincoln, Terry Skiverton (former youth player) and his tenure at Yeovil and Neil Shipperly in non League football

somewhat related is Mark Stein being the head physio at Crawley Town

Very good -- but not great -- player. It's a shame he's thought of himself as "world class" since Jose brought him out of obscurity. He's spent far too much of his career riding benches of big clubs. He should be a leading player at a good club. Good luck to Lass; always rated him.

talk about a career going backwards. I am almost amazed by how much respect I have lost for him.

also- Kalou allegedly on the verge of a deal to Lille.

So how many goals will Borini score against us??? I hate the fact that now he is @ L'puke. I thought he wanted to play in Serie A??? I still think the Board got this whole situation twisted.

I am not understanding what you are asking here. I know you feel Borini's agent is like the 2nd coming of Jerry freakin' McGuire, but this guy was one our Gems now he is playing for the enemy. Stuff like this shouldn't happened, but then again we did have Benedict Arnold here in the States & he ended up w/ the Red Coats <_<

You're creating a false construct by insinuating that the board could've done anything within reason to keep him

well I am thinking if you have a gem in your backyard, then you should be able to dig it up, shine it & put it on display. I feel that the Board never rated Borini & didn't want to extend his contract. Don't we have some sort of excellent scouting system & can rate players??? Especially our own youth team players??? ahh...I just discovered that Fenway Sports has ties w/ Roma. So they knew about his situation all along. Then you add Rodgers into the equation, who he played under for the Youth & Swansea. still this reeks

Again, these things dont happen in a CFC-vacuum there was outside influences that were beyond the influence/scope of the board. It's clear TPTB wanted him to stay.

do we know what it WAS that kept him from signing? besides a greedy agent, does it just mean his wage demands were too high compared to how we rated him at the time? is that the bottom line or is there something else? genuinely curious.

It was not all his agent as the club dragged their feet and then put themselves in a tough position by taking the stance that Borini would not play unless he signed a new deal. I think he himself wanted assurances from the club about his future and thus why he wanted a longer deal than was being offered, but his agent definitely took advantage of a sensitive situation.

I see that some here continue to struggle with revisionist history. It would be nice if they would not poison every thread. Btw- jfranse this comment has nothing to do with you.
