Hello fellow Liga MX fans, I am a writer for Ordinary Orange Fan (www.ordinaryorangefan.com), a website dedicated to the MLS club Houston Dynamo.

I am also an avid follower of Liga MX and a Pumas supporter. Recently after having little options on English speaking Mexican soccer coverage, I pitched an idea to another Dynamo website (www.dynamotheory.com) to have a weekly column dedicated to Liga MX.

I'm happy to say it's in it's third installment and is posted on Tuesday's on both websites.
I'd like to let as many Liga MX fans know about it as possible and would enjoy feedback and if you are enjoying the content, please share with friends.

Since the primary objective was to introduce Liga MX to MLS fans, the first couple posts include history and things most fans already know. But ongoing, we'll recap the week's games and talk about everything related to the Liga MX season.

Here are the first three posts. More to come next week!
1st post: Liga MX - New Name, Same Entertainment
2nd post: Liga MX resuscitates Copa Mexico, Big Spenders, and Team Previews
3rd post: Liga MX Apertura Contenders, Relegation, and More Team Previews

Thanks to all who check it out and feedback welcome. If there is a topic someone would like to hear about, let me know. You can follow me on Twitter @OrangeFanBlog, email ordinaryorangefan@gmail.com, or PM me.

Technically, it is La Liga MX. But in print, most drop the La and simply refer to it as Liga MX. Flows better lol.

Either "La Liga MX" or simply "Liga MX" sound utterly ridiculous to me.

This so called change in strategy to improve the quality of Mexican soccer is complete bullshit.

They did no serious overhaul, or came to a consensus on how to truly transcend in the international scene. Rather they took the half ass route, and brought back an old tournament template and
gave it, in my opinion, one of the stupidest names ever.

I hope that this project succeeds in improving the quality, however, because all I care about is the quality of Mexican soccer and transcendence of it.

I agree that in order to improve the quality as De Maria says he is trying to do, a name change will not simply do it. There has to be much more than that to improve on what they already have.

With that being said, as much as I'm disappointed with the lack of changes to Liga MX, I like the new name. It's simple and flows easily. How many people used to refer to the league as Liga Mexicana before when it was named Primera Division de Mexico?.. alot. Now that's what it's called essentially.

Hopefully there are more changes to come, but for now we're stuck with a simple name change.

And yes, the resurrection of Copa Mexico does not seem that appealing and I don't think it will last quite frankly. Too many games and too confusing how the teams will qualify, etc. with CCL teams not playing and so forth.

I'm not usually one to let stupid comments bother me.. well actually this stupid comment doesn't bother me, I just felt like proving a point.

As I mentioned, the league is technically called La Liga MX, but most refer to it as Liga MX.

Hell even this attached photo (taken from the Mexican Federation of Futbol website) says Liga MX. Just go to the "OFFICIAL" website and see for yourself. http://www.femexfut.org.mx/portalv2...LIGAMXA12_06072012.pdf?rnd=0.3591364799067378

Anyway, I guess it may just be because this "gringo" may know more about "your league" than you.

Don't question the knowledge I have about "your league" again please sir. Have a nice night.

For others reading, all posts in one place. Thanks to all who have checked it out.

Good start. Looking forward to weekly updates. Can't have enough English coverage of La Liga MX, or Liga MX, or Liga MX de México Asociación Nacional...whatever the hell they call it.

Well they are hopping Liga MX is temporary right?

In the future they will try to sell it to say:

    Liga Bimbo MX
    Liga Wal-mart MX
    Liga Banamex MX
    Liga Televisa MX
    Liga Nissan MX

    Or what ever.

Primera Division alreaady had "Comex" as league sponsor and nobody calls it that way... even the Premier League is rarely called "Barclays Premier League"... at least by the fans... so I guess Liga MX will be the way to go regardless of league sponsor or not.

Um, the title of the thread says 'English coverage...', why would you expect a Spanish version...you trying to rustle the OP's jimmies again?

No intent to offend anyone.. but yeah the coverage is only in English. Because the league is already en español.

Opening weekend is here! What's your game of the week.. I'm a Pumas fan, but doesn't get any better than a Monterrey/America match-up as a rematch of the semifinals last year.

All posts in one place. If you haven't had a chance to read the team previews, they are spread out in three posts (6 teams each).

Thanks for checking it out. I'll be writing a feature on Copa Mexico soon too.
