What is up with this scheduling? No games until late tonight? I've been stuck with EURO U-19 reruns. This blows!

I love how all the talking heads of MLS are actually saying Golden Balls suspension wasn't long enough.

Also, I would HATE to be that guys teammate. He jumps ship if Manchester United, England, or The Spice Girls have something going on. That would irritate the hell out of me if the guy was someone I'm supposed to emulate.

Showing up in the stadium for Wimbledon was a very bad move.

The USOC semis are tonight. Who you guys pulling for?
    1. Chivas @ Seattle
    2. Sporting @ Philly
On the one hand, I want a good final. To me, that means we likely see Seattle playing Sporting. However, I'd LOVE for Seattle to crash out of this thing at the hands of someone like Chivas USA. It would just be too funny.

On the other side of the bracket, we have two very young teams with interesting styles. Philly, since firing Nowak, seems to be a completely different side in terms of confidence and creativity. Sporting is Sporting, though, and if they can harbor that lightning in a bottle, they are damn scary.

I'm pulling for a Philly v Chivas final just because it would be the most random ass final in a long time.

Also, it would be funny to see one of those 2 sides in CCL next year

Chivas & Philly. I find both teams the lesser of the two evils.

No upsets is what we should be hoping for. Remember how we got into the CCL this year? We needed the top seeds to go our way and to have the USOC winner in one of those spots. KC and Seattle for the win - it'll ease things up if we don't make MLS Cup or get the SS.

He's right, the refs don't have control of some games. He could probably get a dissent card every game for the way he's in their face yelling about everything. Hopefully they do get control and show him he can't be doing that.

Lol, awesome. I was 16 when the winter olympics were in salt lake and I was a volunteer for the opening and closing ceremonies. I'll never forget the party of the closing ceremonies, I basically worked until they got close to turning off the flame and then I bounced out and joined the party, fun as hell. It is exactly like they described it, just a bunch of drunk ass athletes making out and groping up on each other. I ended up downtown that night, still had my olympic shit on with all my credentials and ended up making out with some random chick. Hilarious. Oh and the Dutch house for the 02 olympics was ********ing IN-SANE, 24/7 party.

I'm on Beckham's side, honestly. There's a fine line between gamesmanship and time wasting and he recognized it. I loved how he kicked that ball, for multiple reasons. First, it had a beautiful bend on it but that's what you expect from Golden Balls. Second, it got him a yellow card and a suspension for accumulation, which is nice when it happens to good players that don't play for RSL. And finally, it showed that, in this instance, it was 100% complete and utter time wasting BS (either that or we've discovered a new cure for acute mysterious face pain).

Sorry but Beckham is right, the whole additional suspension (albeit warranted) was a distraction from the real talking point, which is the stupid time wasting antics that players in this league get away with. It's disrespectful to the game and I completely understand David's frustration and why he did what he did.

Yeah, he was wasting time. So what? No matter how golden a player's balls may be, he can't go around enforcing the laws of the game with beautifully aimed crosses.

The suspension was more about the attitude than the action, in my opinion. Also, there was a couple of other players suspended this season for throwing/kicking balls at players and refs in anger. I'm not going to accuse the disciplinary committee of being consistent, but this is close.

If I would've known that to get with Solo all I had to do was make the Olympic team for some marginal sport...

So, for some reason what happens in MLS is different than what happens in every other league? Would Beckham have felt it appropriate to make the same well-placed kick if he were still at Man U and it was a Blackburn player rolling around in mock pain? What about when he was at Milan? Would it have been cool if a Roma player were rolling around that he took two kicked balls at the guy? While at Real Madrid, cool to bend one onto a Barcelona player?

Don't get me wrong, I do not condone the grotesque amount of play-acting done by soccer players. I think it ruins the sport and undermines the potential for popularity in the USA.

But, it's not Beckham's job to try to fix it. He's acting like the guy who honks his horn at every driver who doesn't come to a full stop at a stop sign. He's not going to change the mass of people's behavior and it comes off as a bit nutty.

There should have been a fine to Cronin. SJ fans that try to cover it up with "we don't know if he was really acting/time wasting" are up in the ********ing night. It was blatant. Golden Balls didn't want to wait 3 more minutes to whip one in.

    WITH THAT SAID

Beckham got off SOOOOOO lightly on this it's ridiculous. Acting like the suspension he served for the yellow was part of the suspension for his actions in this game is moronic. With that logic, Kyle had to sit out of the CCL title because of a yellow card he got at midfield in Monterrey. Not accumulation of moronic actions over a length of time. It's the last one that you put the whole blame on? Really?

Secondly, a one game ban for hitting a player AND referee is hilarious. Brek Shea got a 3 game suspension for something, in my opinion, that was much less disrespectful to the game than what Beckham did.

Lastly, he didn't just leave it there. He continued his antics after the game. He called out some back-up goalkeeper to "meet him in the locker room" (as he kept gesturing). He picked a fight with anything or anyone who came near him and his finely trimmed hair. He even went after the muppet that SJ calls a mascot (what the hell is that thing supposed to be, anyways?)

All of that, and he gets 1 game? Really? And you have the balls to bitch about getting 1 game?

    Beckham, go ******** yourself.

From the sounds of it, these Olympians aren't exactly settling for one. There'd be room for more. :D
