Sometimes these decisions baffle me, he is happy to go to Juve to break into that midfield with addition of Isla and Asamoah or going out on loan and forgotten rather try to break into our midfield, if he goes out on loan/co ownership 5th club in 5 years.

Money? Probably has his agent in his ear getting him to constantly jump clubs so he gets a bumper deal for negotiating too.

I am sure we pay more than Juve for first team options, you just need to do something decent enough for the 1st team.

Oh I'm sure in the long run yes, but notorious for not paying a lot for youngsters/up and comers. People (and agents) want money now. Maybe he doesn't trust himself to break into the first team. Waiting for a raise takes the control out of your hands.

Hope he turns out rubbish myself :)

Third time lucky on letting a youth Prospect go I say, we got burned on Rossi and Pique. So we must be due one of them becoming rubbish by now.

I might have scraped together two ********s if it weren't for the fact that United are stacked with under-18 midfield talent.

For which reason we will not buy a midfielder, and we wont play those U18 talent any time soon because they arent ready and we have to play Park somewhere so middle it is, the most useless position on the field, the U18 talent will move away because we neither play them nor pay market wages and we will curse them and declare nothing to worry as the next U 18 have great midfield talents.

He will enjoy the Italian reserves. They overpay kids. Good riddance.

    It's Petrucci time.

Morrison is an idiot and Pogba is greedy/has Raiola as an agent.

That's like being struck by lighting twice in the same spot in 2 seconds.

I'm not saying all our current talented youth will get a chance/make it but they all won't do a Morrison/Pogba either.

You are right about both but still they should have gotten games when we had an injury crisis rather playing Park Rafael, unless we decided to sell them back then.

I must admit the lack of playing time for both last season was concerning, but we all know that Ferguson is a stubborn old mule.

No they won't. But they are also not likely to be nearly as talented as either. Pogba was a Gerrard in the making, but more technical. Morrison could have been anything he wanted. We don't have anyone on our books who either possesses the spikes that Pogba has or the overall talent that Morrison had.

I personally dont think it was. Pogba wasnt ready, and you cannot reward Ravel's poor behavior and training etiquette with first team appearances.

All of that means nothing if they're destined to fail because of their attitudes/decisions.

it's a fine line.. we don't know exactly how players will play against PL teams unless we put them. but putting them in we could risk injury to them physically, mentally and even in the PL table. I trust that SAF and his team know when a player is ready.

we will never see the Class of '92 again... but without some patience exercised by players and agents it is hard to see really hyped up prospects that dominate the reserves want to stick around and wait. then again look at Cleverley and Welbeck. prime examples of waiting their turn.

Not trying to stir the shit, but did anyone else really want them? I think I remember Sunderland wanting to make Welbeck a permanent signing but that's hardly going to turn heads? We got them by default it feels, I'm happy we did, but it really doesn't bode well for our competitiveness or players waiting for a chance.

For me there are two ways to keep young talent, give them first team opportunities and give them enough exposure to keep them interested not to the stupid extent of Arsenal but more like we used to specially if we think someone is a special talent.
Two pay them market wages so the others cant attract them with that aspect, cant see the 2nd happening for many reasons we could surely improve on the first.

I don't agree. Welbeck is and would have been a full England international either at United or if Sunderland signed him. and he would have been sold off in 2-3 years to a top 4 club. Cleverley was POTY at Watford and barring injury, made a great impression at Wigan. if we wanted to sell him - and I don't think we ever did - he would have been able to sign for a mid-table PL club.

not sure I understand this. what do you mean "by default"? if the club didn't feel they were good enough why would we keep them?

Welbeck was great for us this season and is still young and improving. Cleverley was unlucky with injuries but is still young and has been with the 1st team all season and really was a stand out (got a call up to the ENT based on this). to me - and maybe I'm alone in this opinion - seeing Welbeck and Cleverley given the chance after two loan spells provides a great example for both our competitiveness and players waiting for a chance.

Pogba is nowhere near Morrison in terms of prodigiousness.

In fact, he isn't even anywhere near Petrucci at the same age.

That is a pretty absurd conclusion.

No-one wanted him in the same way no-one wanted Wilshere from Arsenal when he was 18. You are not going to tempt fans from a destination club when they are 18.

He was a prodigious talent at 18; he is hard working despite his injury hell and says the right things. What's not to like?

    1. I don't agree with "nowhere near" but I never suggested that Pogba and Morrison were on the same level.

    2. I said that Pogba had spikes that reached levels that no one in our academy can match.

    3. Where Petrucci was at the same age is irrelevant. Petrucci will have to be catered to. He's not enough of a goal threat and lacks the physical attributes to be played further forward and he isn't a box to box CM or defensively astute enough to be a holding type player. The chances of Petrucci fitting into our senior set up are as negligible as John Terry's conscience.
