Well, it won't be long before Sarah Palin or someone like that starts speculating about how long it will take Death Panels to kill as many people as the Iraqi Terrorists did on 9/11

El Rusho said he will move to Costa Rica, o'Reilly said he'll apologize....

But the best one is the smount of teapaties planning to move to Canada.... Should we tell them that they have Universal care north of the border?

In case anybody's wondering how the right-wing whisper brigade is framing this issue ... yup it's as you would imagine. My mother in law called to taunt me for being a Dem, now my taxes will be rising to pay for the unemployed Negroes taking ambulances on my dime.

I could swear Rushles said he was moving away after Obama got elected. Whatever happened with that?

That might have just been the window we needed. The problem is that it was entirely within his normal character and he's still enjoyed support despite that.

Somewhat OT, (well, a LOT OT in a sense), but provides some guidance as to how politicians SHOULD be interviewed when they talk utter nonsense.

In this case our own, much beloved Jeremy Paxman, questioning junior treasury minister Chloe Smith about the tories latest u-turn in scrapping a 3p tax rise on petrol, (gas), which 'The Sun' newspaper, (prop. R. Murdoch), has been banging on about for a while now.

The intro sets the scene but the fun REALLY starts from about 6 mins 10 seconds.

Particularly the last question... "Do you ever think you're incompetent?"

    Great fun :)

A large portion of this nation got upset when Katie Couric asked what newspaper Sarah Palin read.

He turned down a surefire chance at political fame and fortune with Republicans in order to grow up. Congrats to him. :notworthy:

InTheNet will be displeased, looking at old posts from 2009 he went all in on this kid.

Jonathon must've seen his 13 year old self on Bill Maher's new rules. I wonder if he saw it on bigsoccer where it was posted twice on the last page. In any case...

And the kid did see it, he obviously agrees with Maher.
Krohn makes his cameo at 3:33 or so. The cretin before him is even worse.

How can an organization which gets its power and funding by force, and only by force, be "nice"? It may be necessary, it may not act in ways most people would find particularly objectionable, but "nice" is a completely inappropriate adjective for government entities.

And why should governments compete with the private sector?

This is not failure by any stretch.

You must be a blast at cocktail parties.
Why shouldn't it? Government's entrance into the marketplace can be beneficial. Can you imagine post-secondary education without land grant universities?

    ...

No, because those existed long before I was alive. Is this what you talk about when you're at cocktail parties?

Government should stay out of the "marketplace" because it doesn't play by the same rules as private actors. It fundamentally can't by design, and this is a good thing.

We see what happens when big corporations buy legislatures. At least there's time and effort to be spent before the marketplace is distorted. Do you want to make it even easier?

So you conveniently ignore things that are inconvenient to your worldview by making up arbitrary distinctions. That's cool!
    Why?
    Why?
    What are you talking about?

I'm glad my own municipality didn't listen to the MasterShakes of the world when they built their own fiber-optic network. Unfortunately, the legislature did, so we had to have a municipal election to allow the city to sell high-speed internet on that network.

MasterShake's buddies over at Comcast and CenturyLink spent big bucks to defeat the measure, but folks decided that Comcast and CenturyLink needed a bit more competition in the marketplace, which is shocking, given Comcast's reputation for great customer service and CenturyLink's super-duper high speeds.

I'll bet he spends all his time ranting about how the party would be alot better if everyone was smoking a doobie rather than throwing back rum'n'cokes.
Please explain how you distinguish between

    1. Roads
    2. broadband
    3. schools
    4. Prisons
    5. Fire protection

And please don't fall back on some lame special pleading. Come up with a distinction that makes sense.

What was really interesting was the implication by mastershake that libertarianism is a modern political philosophy that is uniquely positioned to deal with the challenges of today, rather than an absurd throwback to an imagined past.

Well, I have to admit. My pet theories also work a lot better in imaginary places than they do in real life.
