Well that is why you need a better equipped Police (State, Municipal and Federal). The PAN does try to give states more rights than the PRI ever did, that leads to good things and bad things (ban on abortion) politics stops the Federal government from creating (well unifying) federal forces into a FBI type of unit, the AFI was supposed to do that but it failed. You would also think than convoys of 5-10 vehicles would be easy to track and to follow, the bad part is than many times the local police or the local Army is protecting those convoys. Hey the demand may be here, but Mexico inability to control their territory is Mexico’s problem, maybe taxing all the black market business would help pay for better police. Is not like we here in the USA do not have issues policing many of our inner city zones, many have higher murder rate than Mexico. Now our politicians like to blame Mexico and their near failed state system for our issues, but really it is our own foult we can help minority urban zones. But hey, Mexico could always legalize some drugs, that may help the problem down there, the PAN talked about it, but I am sure the Catholic Church would not allow them to do it.
http://mexicoinstituteonelections.wordpress.com/ IFE Information about the election, they just had the first debate, pretty decent, people calling each other out right layers and shit.
Nieto still ahead with 45% (top 2 make the second round, like France). http://news.yahoo.com/leftist-mexican-presidential-candidate-rises-poll-005934258.html
Awesome.. gotta follow Mexican politics more closely..... http://www.colbertnation.com/the-colbert-report-videos/414026/may-09-2012/mexico-s-debate-playmate
I am not Mexican and so have no vote. And again, despite being a conservative, someone please tell me what the PAN has done to merit reelection? Or the PRI for that matter. Diaz gave Mexico 40 years of nothing and called it progress The PRI gave Mexico 70 years of corruption and called it socialism. PAN has given Mexico 12 years of incompetence and are so imcompetanct they do not even have a name for it. Maybe it is the PRD's time.
PRD = Old school PRI; the PRI stopped being Socialist so left leaning members of the Party split and formed the PRD, so if voting for PRI is going back, voting PRD is going way back by your comments. I do think PRD with Ebredad (dude stepped aside to let Obrador run for PRD) would have challenged the PRI this election, I would have voted for PRD with Ebredad, now I think I will vote for the 4th candidate Quadri, then I will vote (not sure If I will be able to vote in the second round) against el PRI in the second round be it Obrador or Mota.
Vásquez Mota just spoke and she has a tone of conceding the election. Each different news organization has their own projections.... nothing official yet. Peña Nieto leads by more than 10 points in every projection. Some have have with as much as 51%. López Obrador is a distant 2nd.
Anything above 40% for Nieto means that he will easily win the second round (if there is one) he will get at least half the PAN vote in the second round. http://prep2012.excelsior.com.mx/prep/NACIONAL/PresidenteNacionalVPC.html
Official numbers are out from the IFE. With only 2% of precincts reporting. Peña Nieto 37% López Obrador 30% Vásquez Mota 28% Quadri de la Torre 3%
Mexico is full of conservatives and uneducated people, not going to happen anytime soon, god I feel bad for my country. I don't get it, Cardenas a left wing president gave more to Mexico than any president in Mexico in the 20th Century WTF does Mexico not vote a Liberal in?
I have been told that there is no second round, that law was never approved, so there is only one round for the election. Nieto got this shit in the bag.
Dumb ass Quadri had to hold the torch for that stupid bitch founder of a witch. Thats what did him in.She was the most corrupt (proven) politician in a while she showed up one day to a event with two hummers one for her and the second for her dogs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elba_Esther_Gordillo
2006 was Bush-Gore in Mexico. EPN is winning the states with large population, AMLO the DF and the southern states.
Well this time the candidate that was in bed with Elba won (to be fair, she is not a candidate for Morena, she is just still the leader of SNTE. Finally on his 3rd try AMLO wins the Mexican presidency, by a landslide. https://www.cnn.com/2018/07/01/americas/mexico-election-president-intl/index.html
I am surprised that the Mexican election has not drawn more attention in the US. I would think that the press would be interested as what happens in Mexico is frankly more important to the US than what happens in the rest of the world. Six years ago I said this: In the end I suggested it was the PRD's turn. AMLO has broken with the PRD since, but he won easily. And can you blame Mexicans? The press is playing AMLO as Mexico's Trump. But unlike Trump, AMLO is an experienced politician. My fear is that he might be Mexico's Chavez, but he does not have that personality. In the end I bet he is something of a Mexican Lula, hopefully without the corruption taint. Good luck.
Mexican Democratic institutions are not string enough to stop a Chavez want to be, that is the worse fear, but perhaps it is an exaggeration. He has all kinds of spending plans and the way he claims he will pay for it is by getting rid of corruption. I doubt that that will happen, so does he run up the deficit or do the economist around him control him? He will have a good majority in the Senate and house, so perhaps it will be his party that has a lot of far lefty people in there that will give him problems. I voted for him 8 years ago, but then he went crazy. The reason I think the comparison to Trump works is because both were elected because the people that voted for them claimed that they were sick of the same old politicians, they want someone to go in there and change everything. We will see what happens over the next 8 years, we will see how he reacts when the courts try to block some of his legislation, that has been the part that scares me the most, his willingness to ignore court rulings that he disagrees with.
