lol pinche decio basicamente les dijo a los clubes si estas jugando en la libertadores es muy tu pedo porque a la fmf le vale merga. Nadamas le falto una mentada de madre a los clubes.
Nah. F that. Qualification for such an important tournament should be through round-robin league play. Keep it like it is, top 3 from the league table. Just let Mexico Cup be a fun tournament to build depth and give lower divisions some necessary experience. But keep the int'l qualification in the league.
While I agree that the Cup should be a tournament to build depth and give lower divisions experience, I think that the winner should get something other than just a trophy. In Europe the winners of their respective countries' Cup tournaments(Copa Del Rey, FA Cup, Coppa Italia) are given a pass for the Europa League. So why not do something like this? Instead of the top 3 from league table to Libertadores maybe just the top 2 plus the winner of the "Copa". Or better yet, get Mexican teams back in the Copa Sudamericana and give the winner of the "Copa" a ticket to Copa Sudamericana. It's easy to say "give the winner this or that" but the addition of another tournament makes it harder with the calendar being already saturated. having Libertadores, Concachampions, Apertura, Clausura, and now the "Copa" is gonna put a strain on teams who don't have many players. I like how the Concachampions changed their format and that eliminated two games from the previous format, I think the "Copa" should have been a straightforward knockout tourney, that would have been easier on the calendar.
Should the name of this thread be changed to "Liga MX" to make it more accurate now that we know the name.
1. Do Mexican Teams have a limit on the number of players they can have on the first team roster? I do believe Libertadores limit is 25 but teams can change a few players after the group and after the quarterfinals I think. 2. All top teams have U-20 and U-17 teams, so I see lots of the 20 and 17 guys playing in the Copas Mexico. 3. D-2 teams have no international games, so this should not be a huge deal for them, extra 6-10 games. Veracruz missed the playoffs both times last year, meaning they only played officially 30 games.
I'm not happy with the group format for the copa, but what annoys me more is the idea that they have two a year. It just dilutes the product. I don't know how many of you lived in Mexico the last time the copa was around, but there is a reason they stopped having it.
1. I don't know if there is a limit but I know teams can bring players from the U-23, U-20 squads during the season. 2. That's what I like about the Copa tourney, that it will give teams the chance to line-up younger players for these games. I don't know the details, but I heard that the "Copa" tourney limits foreign players to 3 per team. 3. It shouldn't be a big strain for most teams since they can bring the players from youth squads, but even then having to play another game in the middle of the week is no easy task. Look at teams like Queretaro, San Luis and Leon, that have limited rosters to begin with, they will struggle to be competitive on both Copa and Liga.
Completely agree with you, it should have been a straight-up knockout tournament and only once a year.
Well they do have U20s and U17s. That is the good thing of cup tournaments during the season, top team must pick who they line up and rotate their players for league, cup and international tournaments (and National team duty). That is why I do not like the idea of teams in the CCL and/or Libertadores not taking part of the cup, they should be in the cup and just send their backups or their Underage teams. Santos could send a mix of their U20 and U17 team to the cup, the back ups with some U's to the league game and starters to international games (or what ever mix they want). PD: I would also like if the U20, U17s included Liga de Ascenso teams, but that may be too large of a cost for D2 teams that often struggle to even make payroll, flying youth squads around is all expense and little income (unless you find a star and sell him).
Yup cuz Ascenso MX teams only are allowed to have 3 foreign players, that's why in the Copa Liga MX's teams will have 3 foreigns only as well.
if the cup is by nature the less prestigious trophy, if anything it should give qualification to the less prestigious tourney. Copa Mexico winners should be Mexico 2 and 4 (Mexico 1 and 2 being Apertura and Clausura Champs, as obligated by concacaf) at the concachampions. Having copa champs go to copa lib (as suggested above) and liga champs go to concachampions gives concachampions more importance (even if it carries with it the honor of getting a chance to get slaughtered by Chelsea in japan in december). the two subcampeones de liga could be Mexico 1 and 2 in copa lib and annual superlider gets mexico 3. or some variation of that. US Soccer sends the Open Cup champ to concachampions so its not like concacaf can have a hissy fit. in an ideal world, the four copa finalists could go to concachampions and the the liga champs be mex1 and 2 and liga superseder mex 3. ps, i really wanted other peoples thoughts on multiple ownership... nadie me pelo mi mensaje anterior....
also, i really do think this whole "were considering pulling out of copa lib" is some sort of negotiation tactic by femexfut... i can't imagine how much conmebol would lose in sponsorships and tv money if mexico pulled out.
I really like your idea of having the Cup winners become Mexico 3 and 4 in Concachampions, that or Copa Finalists become Concachampions teams and liga champs to Libertadores. There are multiple combinations. Personally I would like to see Mexican teams back in the Copa Sudamericana and have the Copa Champions go to that. As far as Mexico leaving Libertadores, I don't see that happening any time soon. Like you said, it just might be a tactic to get some bargaining power. Libertadores is way more prestigious than Concachampions, even though Conchachampions might be more profitable in the long run since the winner goes to the World Club Cup or whatever it's called. Also, the sponsors for the Libertadores wouldn't want the tourney without Mexican teams. They would lose too much money. When the FMF treathened to pull their teams from Libertadores Santander told Conmebol that if Mexican teams pulled out they would pull out as well.
1. I welcome the cup, A couple years back I created a thread which listed changes I wish would be made to better the league and this was one of them.. MOST OF YOU DISAGREED . 2. By not giving a prize to any team it creates a more balanced playing field . 2.The league would get a much bigger benefit from having a long season with no playoffs. I think that nobody is looking at the big picture financially. Just look at the final weeks of the english leagues. Every Barca, Real madrid, MAnu, Arsenal, chelsea, City game was watched like it was a damn final, Granted in terms of chelsea and arsenal its because the champions league is a legitimate tournament unlike the concacrap champions league.
Well The champions is The key, imagine The epl or liga with out the champion league spots. Most fans would get bored and stop paying attention when their team cant win the title ot they are safe from going to d2.[/quote]
Don't let the rest of the region degrade the Concachampions. Once the rubbish is removed, it's exciting to see the Mexican teams battle it out for the championship of the whole continent. Mexican teams bring it legitimacy. It's not our fault we're in the region we are in.
I love the idea of shaking the league up, it really does need it. Bringing back the domestic cup was a good idea I thought but they really f'd up the format. I'd like to see a traditional knockout only cup with a large cash prize for the winner in a one-off final at a predetermined site. The idea to have quality controls for foreigners brought to the league is another excellent idea but I haven't heard much of it lately. Hopefully they do eventually implement it and sort out the cup.
Are they going to have a new Website? The Femexfut was informative but it was not the best quality website, shit the 2nd Division Magazine style website looks better than Femexfut.org.mx. Also any word on the official rules, format etc. I do not see anything on the Femexfut website.
Que se dejen de mamadas y se pongan a dar buen espectaculo en la cancha. Quieren elever el nivel de la liga a base de mercadotecnia.
