Goodsie, don't hate me for starting this thread, but since the game is in only 3 days, and since I'm going to it, I took the plunge. 6 pm PDT. I've got an extra ticket, just in case you were considering the trek.
This game is scheduled to be televised live on both Comcast SportsNet California and Comcast SportsNet California HD at 6:00pm PDT. AT&T U-verse CSN CA: Channel 767 CSN CA HD: Channel 1767 Comcast (Bay Area) CSN CA: Channel 41 CSN CA HD: Channel 721 Comcast (Sacramento area) CSN CA: Channel 34 CSN CA HD: Channel 721 DirecTV CSN CA: Channel 698 CSN CA HD: Channel 698 DISH Network CSN CA: Channel 409 CSN CA HD: Channel 409 I hope that helped. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
This game will also be broadcast on the radio live on both KLIV 1590 AM (English) and KZSF 1370 AM (Spanish). GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
This could very well be the second consecutive game in which the San Jose Earthquakes players will be wearing the blue uniforms. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Absolutely! Blue jersey / black shorts / blue socks as the primary uniform and white jersey / white shorts (or perhaps blue shorts) / white socks for the secondary uniform. If they really feel like they still need to also have a black uniform at all, then keep the black jersey / black shorts / black socks as the tertiary uniform. Hopefully that'll come into play at the beginning of the San Jose Earthquakes' next Adidas design-template cycle for the 2014 season. To their credit, though, at least all the components (jersey, shorts and socks) of this year's blue uniform match each other, including the color of the lines, numbering and lettering. That wasn't the case during the 2010-2011 Adidas design-template cycle when the team used a leftover blue shorts from a previous away uniform whose striping and numbering didn't match the newer blue jersey and blue socks. In any case, though black shorts are still needed, it was pretty awesome finally seeing the current blue uniforms in action in 16:9 HD for the first time (the previous two times they were used were once during the preseason Timbers Tournament and once during the U.S Open Cup thus far, both only viewable for us either online or in person). GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Winning this game would propel the San Jose Earthquakes back into first place both of the Western Conference and of the entire league. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
the blue uni's did looked great, gonna get a blue jersey at the next game to help push blue jersey sales so the FO can stop saying black sells better and so black is the primary uni
I've seen some comments (not so much on this forum) on how it looks too much like Montreal, like Montreal invented blue in MLS (not that the Quakes invented it either, but it is part of a 10+ year legacy). Maybe it's time to bring back the Clash's "celery".
Though hopefully they'll start selling the authentic blue jerseys at games soon, which they still have yet to do. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Should be interesting to see who starts this one... wouldn't it be nice to see an easy Quake win....wishful thinking... i'm sure RSL will be fired up for this one....lets hope Quakes come out firing on all cylinders and not have to rely on last minute heroics. And here's hoping for 1st place in the standings !
Last I checked, they sure as hell make it hard to pump up the Blue jersey numbers by not offering a replica version. It's $120 for the real one or "black"
For once, GS and I are on the same page! I loved the blue unis, but agree that black shorts would really set the jerseys off! Anyway -- very much looking forward to this game: I think we're going to see over the next week if this team is for real (i.e. if we have a real shot at the Open Cup/MLS Cup double) or not. If we can get a win or tie in Rio Tinto (probably tougher after last night...) and a win at Kezar, I have a feeling this is going to be an epic season!
As far as the game, RSL will be looking for blood after beating them in Santa Clara and them losing to LA. Will be a good test for the team. I would be happy with a tie as I don't think that we are clicking as a team again.
Will be interesting to see if Yallop rotates a lot of guys because of the quick turnaround, or if he figures they should all be ok because they had such a long layoff and were well rested going into last night. I think we'll probably see minimal rotation, as at this point it is important to get the guys playing well together and part of the way to do that is to keep a consistent core group. We'll probably see Corrales inserted, and maybe Salinas for Dawkins. With all of the options in the middle we could see changes there, but I'd rather see Cronin and Baca together again and see if they can get back playing well together again. If I were the coach, the only changes I'd make would be Busch and Corrales, and sit down Bingham and Hernandez. Then for the Open Cup game you can play a lot of the other guys, and also start rotating more guys in and out over the next couple of weeks as the games start to pile up. If the team can get at least a draw on Saturday, that would be a great result. But mostly I want to see the midfield click better and provide possession and linking between the defense and forwards, and to see the defense play well.
I don't care what shade of blue the uniforms are, what color they are doesn't keep me awake at night. The team could wear purple for all I care as long as they play exceptional football. If you want some unintentional humor go to the RSL pre-game thread, their incessant whining is terribly amusing.
Not I. I've seen enough of that midfield pairing. So, no one else noticed we suddenly became a much better team last night after Baca and Cronin were subbed out? Our central midfield is weak with them paired there. Baca plays like a second DM with no connection to the offense, and I've seen enough needless Cronin fouls and long-range floaters over the goal to have faith in him there. My ideal lineup: ----Lenhart----Wondo---- ---------Dawkins---------- Salinas------------Chavez ---------Corrales----------- Morrow--Ike--Vic--Beita ----------Busch------------ Bench: Baca, Gordon, Khari, Cronin, Hernandez, Bingham
heres my prediction RSL scores twice in the first once in the second half. then the Quakes score 4 after the 80th minute.
I know. Just stating we had our all blue before KC rebranded, Montreal got their blue, and even Philly got an a(mostly) blue this year. Our FO hasn't rightfully claimed it as our own, going with black almost entirely, and white next most.
I don't think it's that Baca is worse than Dawkins. I think it's just not the best idea to play both Dawkins and Baca at the same time. I talked before about how the shape of the team was all over the place because Dawkins drifted to the middle and Baca didn't move out wide, forcing Cronin out of position and leaving a pretty big hole behind the midfield. I think either those two shouldn't be on the field together or they really have to work on making sure each player knows where to go if and when Dawkins goes on the move.
