First clean sheet. By far the most important thing today to me. Of course three points is critical as well. Sarvas looked useful. Barrett alone up top won't score you many goals. Jordan was at his Jordan best which of course isn't great. If has to play I'd rather he be up the field like tOday then a right back. Saunders made at least one high class save. Quality of the game was meh. But any win is a great win for the galaxy.
Mission accomplished. It figures. First time this season I am out of town for a home game, so they win. I know what you are thinking, and the answer is, "no."
What a relief to get a W. I liked some of the little things we did to get a win. Saunders did well and kept us in it. Donovan and Sarvas were impressive going forward and on defense. We cheated a little on our goal and it doesn't bother me in the least.
The Timbers announcers (who I was also sentenced to listen to - actually Shaka Hislop is not bad) mentioned that Leonardo was on the DL and won't be back until July. I didn't realize that. Bummer for him and us.
Well it was Portland so can't read too much in to this result. Defense looked better, they bent and the few occasions when they broke having Josh back there was helpful. Midfield buildup was pretty decent at times, though again – it's only Portland. Finishing was … at least Keano should be back for Saturday
C'mon Cadaver, you know the Galaxy won because of Hachiko. Anyway, feel much better with Saunders between the pipes. He looked confident and controlled things well and of course made that fine save that I don't think either Gaudette or Perk would have made. Franklin played okay and did have that fine cross at the beginning of the game that almost led to an early score if not for Perkins' save. Barrett was typical Barrett, work hard to get into a good position only to squander it due to bad first touch, poor decision making, or poor passing. Defense didn't make many mistakes tonight that led to anything, though I did see a few instances with Mwanga got the inside track on AJ or Lopes, but luckily just didn't get any service to take advantage. Just glad with the W. now the Galaxy just needs to win next weekend.
Whew...thanks for the reminder. Going to the Vancouver game and completely forgot about the big RSL game Wednesday.
In June 2009 after only having 2 wins all season long -- we beat houston at home 1-0 with a Dunivant goal. After that, the team went on an 8 game unbeaten run through the summer and closed out the season with only 3 loses after that June game. Can history repeat itself?
The team looked good. First glimpse I saw of the old team: there were some shaky moments at the back but for the most part we limited clear chances and we got through by a tight margin. While I do feel positively that this could be the start of a turn-around, I want to avoid saying something glib like "the mojo's back!" or anything that similarly undermines what the players have achieved. It seemed like everyone just stepped up and work hard, which is what they did in 2011. Hopefully they'll figure out there was never a magic elixir to winning -- just everyone stepping up and working hard.
Hey guys I'm in LA on vacation and went to my first Galaxy match. I had a great time sitting in General Admission next to the Angel City Brigade (who were fantastic supporters BTW). The stadium was awesome and I had a great time and experience. You are lucky to have the Galaxy and HDC near you! Chad Barrett is absolute shit. McBean should start over him. Sarvas played great today. Congrats!
THREE EFFING POINTS. And a clean sheet. I am so happy, I'm beyond words. Going to go back and read the thread, but hope this is good momentum.
